but seriously podium seems very good and alot faster than indigo, but indigo's free and if you want to do interiors specially just lighted from windows there's really no substitute for indigo. so i say get podium if you want, but add indigo to your collection of tools as well, it won't cost you and you won't ever regret it. also take my advise and try the lightup demo this might be what you're looking for as well, its very unique.

looks good, what did you render with?

blender itself is not a renderer, in fact it uses some of the same renderers that sketchup can use so avoid it unless you're up for a real challenge. i use indigo renderer (free) http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/ and find it to have the best result with the least effort/knowledge of any renderer out there, in fact most of the time i just hit render without even monkeying with any material settings at all and i get way better results than i deserve.

also you could try lightup, it gives you interactive render that you can walk around in ;inside of sketchup of course.
one more thing i would recommend is, do a search for sketchup on youtube, you'll find tons of excellent video tutorials.

pbacot, i had a hard time with this tut for that reason too, i ended up copying half of each tread down that way i got a midpoint for each step when i was tracing the curve.

i think it will help with walk mode if everythings to scale? although it may be, i'm not sure, just trying to help.

1. lightup should be added in all fairness.
2. there should be two catagories in this poll a)quality b)speed

i would say that indigo/skindigo can't be beat quality/ease of use wise, and lightup can't be beat for speed/interactivity. these are both equally valuable to me, but at oposite ends of the spectrum.

thats sweet. thank you very much for that. coincidentally you just answer a another question, i was trying to figure out how to make a painted wall texture for skindigo, but i couldn't figure out how get SK to UV map surfaces with just white material on it so i could apply displacement. now after watching your vid i figure i can just make unique my material then it should be uv'ed.

This is a great tool, but it will be more usefull if it`s extended into curved surfaces. This Color by Z or the Tools On Surface are examples of plugins that will be benefit.

how can you get to this tool? i can't find it, tried RC menu?

any thoughts on adding some type of joint strength? for example a table (legs attached with joints)when dropped from 10' for example, would cause the joints to break thus allowing the legs to go their seperate ways.
