Does anyone out there (or in here) use brighter3d for rendering? It looks promising. I've been using twilight but was looking for something a little quicker/easier for quick client renderings and using twilight only for the bigger jobs. I can't find any documentation on it, the forum is extremely lacking, and there are only a handful of short video tutorials I've found. I bought the pro version to take advantage of the preset materials only to find that they aren't right at all so now I'm just sliding sliders and guessing. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

RE: Wine Racks

Very nicely done. To be picky though, the top wine bottles should be pointed down, don't want the cork to dry out. I noticed it was the same way on the manufacturers site..tsk tsk. Lol.

Rob,
Good catch, but to be even more picky , the bottles should be facing with the corks up as shown on the website, but the angle that they lay at should only be at 15Β°.Proper wine storage is a surprisingly "controversial" issue. I design custom wine cellars for my living so I deal with these sorts of "issues" all day! I say, to each their own!
Kris,
Great drawing! These are hard to draw and the racks and especially the bottles do take up a lot of geometry, I struggle with that everyday even with a great computer.

Probably a no-brainer...extruding a curve making me crazy!
Hi Everyone,
I know this is probably totally a no-brainer and I hesitate to even post it here because I know that it should be simple, but I am having a heck of a time getting what I need to get done. I have tried, among countless other things:- Extruding along the path
- Using the "convert lines to circles, etc" plugin
- Can't figure out how to get the shape bender plugin to work!
But I still can't get the complete curve. I know that the section on the right the problem is probably due to the many sections that make that curve, but I can't figure out how to make the curve without them!
Thank you all ahead of time for wasting your brain space and time for helping me out on this!
Oh, see the attached skp file for what I am talking about!

RE: Curved surface driving me crazy!! Help!
Thank you so much! That is exactly what I was looking for. I actually have both plugins that you mentioned, but haven't had the patience to read through the user manuals yet. Can you give me a quick run down on the steps you did?
Thank you so much again!

Curved surface driving me crazy!! Help!
Hi Everyone,
I need help!! I have been playing around with this on and off for, embarrassed to say, months now. I know I can't push/pull on curved surfaces (i've downloaded the joint push pull plugin, but can't get it to help with what I am trying to achieve). I've also tried the solid tools, but am not having luck with that either. My two problems are:- Getting the curved cutouts onto the curved surfaces
- Figuring out how to work with the angle that the curved surface makes.
I've attached a pdf of what I am trying to do, and also the sketchup file for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Here is what I am trying to achieve

Need Roof Help!
Hello,
Can anyone help me with adding a cable roof onto my model? I think I went about the whole model the wrong way (in the wrong order at least) and now I am at a loss as to how to figure out to get the sides of the roof lined up correctly on the opposite sides of where the trusses are. Theoretically, I would like the roof to have a pitch of 4:12. I think it's 'close' but not exact. The great truss component I found wasn't exactly that pitch, so now I am having difficulties with the roof!I would like the rafters (I think that's what they are called) to come out farther than they are right now and have the roof sit on top of those.
Any suggestions?

What you can download there are the profiles themselves. They (their curves) might be welded (there is a weld plugin) but I am not sure.
They are best used with the Follow me toolThanks Gaieus,
I am still working on figuring out the follow me tool, but I can see how that would be the best use for those profiles -
RE: Curved Corbel Detail on Pergola
Thanks!! That is super helpful, and I am already already creating some similar to that.
When I want to get more detail oriented with the corbels/molding details, like the ones here: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=3001&hilit=Profiles, how would you go about doing that? I see at the end of the file name "Download Here(handrails ver.5 welded)" that it says welded, and I read about a weld plug-in, is that what I would need to use?
Thanks again!!

Curved Corbel Detail on Pergola
Hello,
I am a newbie in the most literal way. I bought the dummies book, watched the video tutorials, and have played around a bunch in SU. I feel like I know most of what the tools do, but putting that all together to actually make something meaningful is where i'm stuck!!Specifically, I am wondering how to make curved corbel details. I am building a pergola and need to add some simple profiles on the ends of the beams, etc. I found a great model in the warehouse, but am having trouble scaling the components to my exact needs and I thought it would be a good idea to learn how to do it myself anyway.
The attached picture is what I am talking about. Any tips?
