    • Chainlink fence...

Suddenly doing some ballfields as of yesterday and remembered this little png posted on the old forums by Mark Knott (it was still there...yeah, and thanks, Mark, where ever you are :`)

I cleaned up the white edges a little and 300' of it was still under 14k. Setting the horiz scale to 4-5" after you import as a texture gives about the right size.

Enjoy if you need it, and best, Tom.

Kris, just use your on screen color picker in the material editor...or am I missing something? Tom.

    • RE: Image attachment size...

Have you guys tried using Kelley's server? No file size restrictions there, faster uploads too. You just have to have an image to be presented in your post down to a max pixel size...which I was trying to determine.

I think the powers that be said someday (must be now) the attachment restrictions will have to force most to use Kelley's server to save space and speed here...?

...? Anybody found the new rules? I just posted one 799 wide and part of it was cut off on the right side. Played till I found 700 was the max width without losing part of the image...?

    • Cheap peeps

Here's an expanded palette of these little figures for use in the far away mall shots (I think). My thought is to bring the palette (all the components are already set to face-me in the one file) into my model so I can pick and chose as I arrange them, and I have a horizontal face to pick rather than having to fight for the bottom edge of the component. I also left the clothes default material so I can choose colors already in the model saving the extra materials (good idea? :`)

Anyway, I ran out of steam for now, but think there needs to be a wider range...so if you want to help please do so and post your additions here. Do as you will (and thank you) but I'm hoping for similar byte-size to these: ave. 100 entities, 15k each.

    • RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] How would you model this? (wood stove)

What I love about this group, this forum (this program): this thread says it all! Three distinct paths to the same solution...shared...then utilized. Plus, now I get to think about the next problem a little (or a lot) differently.

      Sweet!

      Yeah Eric, Bruce, Bernard!

No, you had it (modelhead...I've lost or don't know your name), mine doesn't smooth as much as the reality requires. Still, I won't be a-scared of table legs anymore, Thanks!

Bernard, I had a bright idea and it seems to have worked:

Trace the leg (better than I did), push/pull it, copy/rotate to cross, intersect with model, erase out the wings (now you have a nice wood table leg), copy each of the outside faces and move inward to create the metal thickness, erase out the inside material to create the cast shape. Lastly, smooth the edges.

Neat! I didn't know I had it in me...thanks for the fun puzzle. Best, Tom.

Edit: (So you guys are the reason I timed out so many times, this thread was empty when I started trying to post :`)

Dylan, I've recently remembered my once interest in making "softer" textures for straight SU output...so I'm glad for the practice and pleased if it's useful!

      Juju,

I just use the filter that comes with PSP, most of the time I don't even have to play with the result (this on, however, kept having a couple of "mushy" spots that made the siding look wavy 😞

Best, Tom...glad to hear about the avatar: I'm trying to scare off Solo's jammin' cat!

Aces, it looked challenging and fun so I fooled around with one of your buddy's images, hope you don't mind (looks as nice a place as you've made it sound, Edson):
