When I'm trying to connect edges in empty space I will often position a large free standing face not too far behind my entire model: so zooming doesn't start at infinity.

Post Title Text Size
I noticed this right off but tried to see if I'd get used to it...didn't
I think the list of topics would be much easier to scan if the Post Title Text was just a bit larger than the other blue text...whadaya think?

RE: Transparency Problem w/ Tom's 2.5D Trees
Mark,
I finally duplicated the problem...sorta:
Bush first then tree...ok. Copied bush...bad. Tree then bush...bad. Copied tree over all bushes...ok.
???But all is fixed if the tree png transparency is changed from 98 to 100.
Also, my trees and bushes (in fact, all textures) will look better if you turn off "allow anti-aliased textures"...SU remains lousy at anti-aliasing.
Best, Tom. -
We've moved...
Hey all,
New location for tomsdesk trees (and a new set of flowering shrubs coming soon)...see you there!
Best, Tom. -
RE: Please share your DWG/DXF import tips
Agreed, you do have to start with "clean" cad lines and dwgs (like mine :`)
-
RE: Please share your DWG/DXF import tips
Save model size by wblock'ing only what you need from the dwg file to insert into the model...some of the background stuff (especially with later versions of autocad and rivet dwg exports) just can not be purged out of sketchup.

RE: RICHARD'S ULTRA LOW POLY CARS - UPDATED
Richard, you're a Prince! Now people can stop bugging me about the boxy cars in my renders...yeh!

The good fortune continues (in my book, at least...what do you think?):

RE: Latest project...
Thanks Allanx, that is one of the first mock watercolors I've done that I didn't pick apart and dislike the next time I opened it to study...and one of my clients who has been less than enthusiastic about my watercolor attemps so far just asked me for rates on a couple of this latest project 8-)
Here are the twilightRender views to be used (as decided so far), though the canopy design has changed...so I will have to rerender if I get the go ahead. In the meantime I'll be trying to match the style and feel of the last one posted here...hope it wasn't a fluke of good fortune :`)
Oh yeah: my many thanks to boofredlay and flipya for the wonderful peeps (posted here) and tomsdesk for the great growies (hehe).

Latest project...
...middle school conversion to "convention center" in small-city Kansas college town. Bit of a collaboration: I started the model but had to give it up for health reasons (more on that later...maybe :`) so a young man named Omar (haven't met him yet...you out there here Omar?) at my client's firm finished it up quite nicely: I was able to add the landscaping and did the renders (SU-TwilightRender-PSP-FotoSketcher-PSP). Whadaya think? (Also, which wet-one do you prefer..subtle difference, I know?)

RE: Did a God or Gods create the universe? EDITED
Maybe answering another question might shed some light on this conundrum..."Which came first: the chicken or the egg?"

RE: LAKESIDE
David, this is absolutely beautiful! The composition it both balanced and dynamic, the colors peaceful yet striking, the whole image...WOW! My very best to you, Tom.
