PS: Your axes are upside down ! ๐Ÿ˜’

Which is exactly what I'd done in the linked post... it's just that the rounding produced isn't too good: there are kinks at the corners that I'd like to get rid of.

So what would you suggest is the right e-by- plugin to sweep the attached profile round the curve? I want to see if I can get a smoother result than with the Follow Me tool (see my iPod Thread here: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=27988)

And TIG... you win an internet:

BTW, I'm assuming that weld.rb aligns the polyline so that all its segments are in the same direction?

      This is becoming a 'mare...

All I want is a robust, no-hassle extrude-along-path solution for my students... FMAK works, but doesn't smooth the resulting extrusion and 1001bit...

TIG, will try your suggestions... how do I weld the path? Is that a plug-in?

Frenchy... when you say 'torsions'... Have I drawn the various curves in different directions? (Tooltips? I don't got no stinkin' tooltips...)

      xrok... indeed... ๐Ÿ˜

    • Making an iPod Touch-Is There a Better Way?

I've made an iPod Touch using the Follow Me tool:

      SketchU Pics-iPod Touch-0.jpg

      This is how:

      SketchU Pics-iPod Touch-1.jpg

      SketchU Pics-iPod Touch-2.jpg

      SketchU Pics-iPod Touch-3.jpg

Then group, mirror, copy, explode, erase, smooth...

But is there a better way? One that gets the double-curve back completely smooth? Maybe using plug-ins?

      TIA

Thanks, TIG... I can do it with FollowMe and FMAK... the specific question was why 1001bit can't do it.

    • 1001bit Extrude Problems...

I've posted on the 1001bit forum but got no replies, so maybe someone here can help?

      Breuer Chair Tryout.skp

I go through the procedure of choosing the profile, then selecting the end of the path and...nothing happens, apart from an empty group appearing in the Outliner.

      Anyone got any ideas?

      TIA,

Trying to sweep a spiral stair rail. I've got the path running smack through the midpoint of the balusters, and the profile lined up as centrally as possible, but the resulting handrail is never on the path.

Is FMAK supposed to smooth the result automatically?

I can't get this one to smooth -- the resulting sweep is nice, though...

    • 'Intersect' Leaving Strange Holes when Used With Curved Surf

I'm trying to use 'Intersect' to create some stencil text on the back of this bloody iPod cover. However, when I hide the cutting group, there are all sorts of holes left over, and what's more, I can't repair them -- they never fill in, even using Triangles...

      Stencil_Holes.jpg

Is the iPod cover so badly formed, or is there something else...?

genma, have you tried preselecting the curve before using the FollowMe tool? I find that gives more reliable results. But I've also noticed profiles twisting when using FollowMe, especially on long sweeps like spiral stair rails.

      Red --

I've complained about this behaviour through the beta testing channels for a while now... they keep saying they've fixed it, but as you've noticed they've done anything but.

Check out my posts and my YouTube channel (timdanaher) for examples...
