Hi Fredo, and thanks for your reply.
I don't understand what should I do. When you say "clean up" you mean deleting the LIBFREDO6 folder and its subfolders?
And then, what should I do? download LIBFREDO again?
      Thanks for your help...
      No.
Fredo means delete the folder C:/Users/PcCom/AppData/Local/LIBFREDO6_DATA_Dir and its contents.
If it's missing then Fredo's tools recreate the folder and its contents when they next run - if they themselves are installed properly...
      Try that and report back...

just to confirm that doing this actually solved a similar issue I was having with both Fredo6's Tools on Surface and Round Corners (but not his other plugins) - SU pro 2018 on win10. thanks folks!

I think 'push/pull' is patented.. but instead of paying multimillion $$ for the name of a tool, they'd probably just call it something else.

exactly... ViaCAD has push/pull like modeling since v.8 and imports SKP files.
still, I spend 99% of my time on SketchUp and 1% on it... LOL

oh my... I so love SketchUp the way it is now (I mean all round: cheap/free, tons of plugins you don't even need to install/uninstall, lots of 3rd party renderers, clean and "generalist" approach... etc) I am also worried as many of you

I am not afraid of the change itself but please don't make it another revit/archicad (for both price and complexity)

I just hope 8.x will still work with all my plugins for a long time in the worse scenario... ๐Ÿ˜„

...and you should see what my 12yo students can do with it after a few lessons!

Just as a shot in the dark, you could try running the licensing application directly; you should find it located @ [plugins]/maxwell/lic/LicenseValidator.app. I suggest this on the strength that, judging from the error message, the application may be having trouble getting permission to write its license file, and that running it directly might help with that.

      dear JD,
you nailed it... running the license validator directly did the trick!

      thank you,
      Alessandro

    • RE: FREE Maxwell Render for Sketchup (free version).

      thank you Jason,

for both the suggestion on displacement-based materials and the materials collection (I saw it on the maxwell forum as well but also noticed the reason why you had to remove the links... so thank you again for giving us - latest SU users - a second chance to get them)

I will try your suggestion asap, just to be sure I've been clear enough: I don't mean a stone wall with normal/displacement maps but "real" micro-displacement (or kind of, don't know the correct terms in MR as I'm a new user) like this one:
      http://resources.maxwellrender.com/search.php#page=1&mode=1&id=4658&search=carpet&v1=0&v2=0&tipo=

finally, one last question (sorry, I have registered to the MR forum but I'm still waiting for the admin to unlock my account for posting): when I try to register my copy of Maxwell I get this error:

      http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2029627/Schermata 2011-11-11 a 16.45.45.jpg

I had a quick look at the knowledgebase/FAQ section but the only thing I found is about admin privilege (which I own -
I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.8). any idea about it?

      thank you in advance,
      Alessandro

    • RE: FREE Maxwell Render for Sketchup (free version).

...just to say I really appreciate this move, thank you Maxwell guys!

of course I already grabbed my 95$ license (who could resist?) and I look forward to produce some decent renders... for the time being I'm doing some tests and I have to agree this is probably the easiest renderer I ever used. love that it's cross-platform and "floating", love that you have free access to all the MX stuff...

and kudos to the "all-plugins-included-for-free" policy of the main Maxwell suite... this is exactly the reason why I have not considered Vray.

      cheers,
      Alessandro

P.S.: I will post it on the MR forums as well but... is there a way to use displacement-base materials from the MXM repo like grass/fur etc.? I'm getting really weird results regardless of the "mapping" and I don't know if there's some settings I can tweak (of course not the MXM itself, I know...) -thanks!

    • RE: Working with textures on multiple faces?

      thanks TIG,

of course yours was one of the plugins I was talking about and as you said it works only with single faces.

I will try what you suggested and let you know if I succeed...

      cheers,
      Alessandro

    • Working with textures on multiple faces?

      Hi!

hope it's the right place to ask... I saw different great UV and textures plugins and tried some of them but still have to find one that let me simply do what the built-in texture/position does but with multiple faces. it could be done with UV projections too but I would think there's another way, involving scale/nudge/rotate of multiple faces at once?

I searched using various words but haven't found nothing... sorry if it's been discussed before

      thanks,
      Alessandro

artisan (and eventually tgi3d) is something I'm considerING (ouch!) to buy...

Just FYI, cross section tool mentioned here is available unrestricted in the free Training Edition of Tgi3D SU Amorph.

      Regards,

      thank you for the info,
I saw it was available in the free training edition (as pilou pointed out)
it was a more general thought about some very well done tools
I'm doing all the "organic" modeling outside SU at the moment (Silo3D and Cheetah3D mainly)

      cheers,
