Hi,Sufractal.
In my enviroment,"Steel Column" shown from "North American pflist" no problem.
Check the line include "##" in the csv file, If you edited it.
"##STEEL_COLUMN" is needed.

so, send to me your profile list or upload here it.
and I will look it.

Thanks.

i believe I used the correct text in the file?

I have what I hope is a simple question. How do I change the color of any beam, column, etc. before placing/drawing it? In the webdialog box, the option default is black. No matter which color I type into the box, the color remains a light blue color.

The color is material.
Beams material is created from "FRONT FACE MATERIAL" and "BACK FACE MATERIAL".
It appears random color when the materialnames in "FRONT FACE MATERIAL" and "BACK FACE MATERIAL" is not existed in sketchup model.

So you may set sketchup templete with the materials.

Thanks.
The three illustration show a yellow background rectangle, 2'wide by 10' tall. Starting at the bottom at the center line closest I can get the 4x13 I beam to vertical is 9/64 off the center vertical line at the top. So right now I can not draw any beams exactly vertical.

Hope this helps.

Ken:

For comparison's sake, I did a similar test and do not seem to have an issue with true verticality. I used the 'column' tool and my column was 12'-0" tall. I noticed that you used the term 'beam' ... are you by any chance using the beam tool to try to draw a vertical line as a column? Is that perhaps the cause?

Excellent! (White text in black box = clever!) The basic function appears to be working now. I'll jump into the fancier features you've added when I get a chance.

Thanks again tak2hata ... this is a great plugin!

hi,SUFractal.
I am out now.
So I will test it later.
But I tested this verison in mac os yesterday. It was no problems.

Please tell me you install from "RBZ"? or "ZIP".

Thanks.

I've installed it via both methods, but with no change in result.

I have also kept my original .list.csv files.

Thanks.

Today (all of a sudden) the "steel column" tool stopped working. All of the other tools appear to be working fine. I have not changed any of the scripts or files associated with this plugin for quite a while.

When I click on the steel column icon, a window for selecting member sizes does not appear.

Thanks

This has happen to me also. I found that if you go to the plugin menu and clear defaults it will start working again. At least on my computer that works.

Ken

Genius! Thank you Ken, it worked.

What worries me here is that I don't see the relevance of what they do with what I'm used with for SketchUp.
Will SU transform into a different type of solution? Will it fragment into specialized editions?

Agree TT, but what was the relevance of what Google does (or did) with a company that produces 3D modeling software? I remember being worried/curious about that purchase years ago, but things seemed to have worked out fine since then right?

Having said that, I'm curious/worried too.

Hi,SU Fractal.
"DrawingSection" folder will be created in the same folder with the editing sketchup model file.
Do not create new folder when it is not saved.
But section drawing is created as component definition ,too.
So looking for the component list.It will be found.

Thanks.

I'm sorry tak2hata, I'm not following you. I looked inside the folder (on my hard drive) where the model is located ... is that what you mean?

Thanks.

the way it's being presented here could be solved this way (i used pilou's linked video for inspiration πŸ˜‰ )

it's weird in that 'this spot' has everything rotating around the same z axis.. in contrast, that other version i tried had a little tear drop up there..

[edit].. oh wait.. i think i'm missing a 1/2 turn or two in there..
same thing just more of it then.. πŸ˜„

[i will say this though.. i don't think you're going to find an automated process for this.. i'm pretty sure someone would have to specifically make a nautilus plugin to get it done quickly]

Did you change the contents (sizes) within that file?

Hi There,
I have seen the tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSVrbJMSSB0&feature=player_embedded and I have noticed that you can change the path to the *.csv file.
I have created a new file, located on My Desktop and changed the path - it works! but... when I change to the plugins path it doesn't.
Never mind, I like the fact that you can link own *.csv file and it can seat in my preferred location.
Thank you
Regards

I don't know this to be 100% true, but I suspect that file does not belong on your desktop, but probably within the "building_structure_tool" folder located inside your plugins folder. Give it a try and see if that corrects the problem.

I have only one problem with the 'default_pflist.csv' file.
The editing of the file doesn't take any effect in SketchUP.
Is anybody successfully added any new 'sizes'?
I would appreciate your comments.

Try with a 4" cube it'd take a fraction of the time! [with ~125+ perforations, each with 8 faces etc]
This one took ~2 minutes.<!-- ia0 -->Capture4.PNG<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:97y792mn]
I replicated your 8" cube on my PC and it eventually made it in ~150 minutes 😲 .
There are ~729+ perforations, each with 8 faces etc... It all adds up...
So it is not just 10x slower, because the more entities you add to a context the slower Sketchup runs disproportionately... each extra step adds exponentially, time-wise.

I think you don't need so many holes ???

If you open Task Manager when running a looooong process you will see that Sketchup is still working.
It's just taking a-g-e-s to process all of the needed geometry...

In passing... please adjust your default Template's, Model Info > Units to show some decimal inches !

4" cube with simple perforation offers no change in operation.
I'll continue to work in the units I need, thanks.
