RE: BETA Testers Wanted
Kevin, its about time somebody grabbed you by the ear, turned you around, wacked you on the backside and sent you home to your mother.
That post was completly unneeded and a total waste of time and bandwidth.
One hundred posts?....kid, thats not what its all about. -
RE: Stuff Topic (Once "My Projects and W.I.P.s")
Yeah.
Well imagine what it would be like if we had 5 or 6 kids, who arent taking their ADHD medication, running around here? -
RE: OH!!...eh.eh...'Nice'
Im still getting lots of H*****y adds...it must be the magic word for the day.

RE: OH!!...eh.eh...'Nice'
Yes, there very clever with targeted advertising these days
-
RE: OH!!...eh.eh...'Nice'
Coen, the banner adds seem to have gone now.......much better, in my opinion!
And hey!.....We can't get much more relevant than this one...can we
-
RE: OH!!...eh.eh...'Nice'
This is what I mean.
And Cupids Melbourne isnt popping up at the moment [obviously I didnt click on it often enough]
-
RE: OH!!...eh.eh...'Nice'
Coen, the smaller Google adds are certainly relevant......I guess the banner adds are the ones that will be significant. But at the moment 'Cupids Melbourne' has been replaced by 'Smart Draw'....so things are maybe looking better.

OH!!...eh.eh...'Nice'
I can understand that somebody has to pay for this forum to exist.....and in the end, advertising makes sense.
Its just a bit unfortunate that suddenly we're hit with adds for...'Find the Girl of your Dreams in Melbourne Tonight' etc. etc. and some kid running around doing serial bumping. Not such a good look.
The comparison with, say, the CG Architect forum http://www.cgarchitect.com/, which is tightly run and stack full of advertising that is RELEVANT to the theme of the forum, is a bit sad.

RE: Stuff Topic (Once "My Projects and W.I.P.s")
Guys, Guys, Guys,....young Kevin is here to get attention..full stop.
He doesnt mind what you say...as long as you say something.
If you want this thread to continue for ever, keep responding...otherwise, leave Kevin to himself for a while.....in that time he might gain a better understanding of this forum and the best way to contribute to it. -
RE: POLL: SCF Gallery- is bumping OK?
I'd just like to emphasise a couple points here.
One of my main objection to the 45 pager was that it created the precedent for the 'Endless Blog' in the gallery pages.
My..'Everybody's Doin It' ditty was to point out the copycat effect that was happening.
I still think that some reasonable posting guidelines should be pinned in the gallery and that the moderators have a discreet word with people breaching these. And johnsenior, if you seriously think I would bother to start that thread in the gallery to prove a point, then you obviously dont know me or how busy I am.....and mate, I care ....but not THAT much!

I still think that things ought to be left the way they are. However...there is a much broader church here now than the effective 100% professional users that used the old @Last forum; and it seems obvious that some people just dont "get it". Therefore a sticky explaining the netiquette of not hogging the front page might be useful.
If that fails (and I think we are only talking about a small number of people here...so it wouldn't be too onerous to have a mods discussion on individual cases) then a PM ought to be sent to the people concerned, suggesting they show a little more consideration for other users. If that fails, lock the thread so it sinks naturally.
Putting on my straight face for a moment I would like to second Alan's thoughts on this. It seems a reasonable way to stop the gallery becoming:
a spot where anybody can create their very own endless blog.
A gallery equivalent of the 3D Warehouse.
A place where no self-respecting SU practitioner would bother posting. [and I suspect there are plenty of those already]

RE: Oz Plant Bonanza
Ahhh Alan,
Your slowing up!
These have been around for a while and are now actually included in the Png plant collection that is available, free, with Podium 1.6 beta, courtesy of Andrew from Enviro Graphic. http://envirographic.com/index.htm
IMHO, Andrew produces the best PR cutouts available. -

RE: Workflow addition under $500...?
Tom [and Kenny] Piranesi can actually import SU components. Ive only tried the demo versions but in the short time I have played with it I didnt find an import limit. And of course it will import Tiff Png etc entourage.
I agree there is some pretty ordinary stuff produced by it, but in the hands of someone like Jeff Jaccobs it can look pretty impressive.
It has its plusses and minusses but if photorealism isnt that important its worth a good look.
Ive been 'almost' going to buy it for years....and now the AUD exchange rate is heading south, it might be a little bit longer yet
