Gee!
You guys are ungrateful!!
Aren't you forgetting that in the last three years we got such great stuff as Layout [beta] and Style Builder [beta]
And what's more these are worhless!! [eh...sorry I meant they didn't cost anything]
I actually feel there is going to be a weird split here.
If the last 'upgrade' is anything to go by I'm not expecting anything stunning in V7 [probably a few nods to the pros amongst up.....but marching steadily in the direction of GE.]
So there is going to be SU for the masses and then a somewhat esoteric customisable version that is employing all the absolutly incredible rubys that are coming out. And because of the diverse places these Rubys can be found a person will need to do a fair bit of research to actually find them all.
The difference between a stock standard SU and one loaded with Rubys and plugins is pretty amazing now....and in a year or two?......probably the output will be almost unrecognisable!
Its almost like an underground is developing

Wow, you guys are like... are like... wow... totally not sick!
Now what I'd really like to see is some sort of Facebook intergration.
So that your typical 9-13 year old could do cool little models of their house or school that their friends could orbit in real time.
That would be sick!!!
Yep Hebe is a real favourite
An oldie done in Kerkythea

Don't you just love these MS updates??!!
Both times I downloaded Vista SP1 it very neatly shutdown my wireless internet connection
The first thing to do is turn off the automatic updates...this at least gives you some control over your software destiny.
Lewis,
'We Design Barns' has a nice folksie ring to it.
I can remember being pretty pleased when some of my stuff was in the @Last SU gallery....but I dont think I could bother too much these days.
There are some nice images in the Architecture section...along with some very average stuff...but why aren't the galleries in the homepage menu? The gallery section is about the first thing I look at if I'm checking the website of an interesting application.
Yeah, the ['New, Improved!!!'] site is pretty uninspiring.
And the galleries, [found after some serious searching] seem to be pretty heavily pruned.
The LA section, for example, consists of two entries. Which is fine by me as the stuff I had posted was out of date and unrepresentative anyway.
@unknownuser said:
so how do you see the ideal render manual ? (picking out your brain
)
Tavi, something like this.....

I've been running SU on a laptop with Vista for five or six months now without any noticable performance issues.
2.2 Core Duo, 256Mb 8600 nVidia card.
OK Phil,
CLAP! CLAP!......wake up!...no more dreaming!..time to face the reality of another day.

Tom, is death all that bad?
As I see it life and death are mutualy arising....totally connected like the two Yin/Yang fishes.
Both are needed to define and give meaning to the other. So death is always with us.....not something we can catch
And as for the morticians...I think they would be surrounded by a lot of negative, morbid energy......rather than viruses or physical toxins.

Thanks Guys,
Pity....it looks really interesting.

Just out of interest... anybody using Space Navigator?...and what's the verdict?

I actually think that SU is at the cross-roads now and V7 is going to pretty well determine which track Google is taking.
The kids and the hobyists and even a lot of serious designers are pretty well covered with the free version.
If Google want people to actually pay money for the next upgrade its going to have to be pretty damn attractive. Im sure they are not going to ignore the GE side of it but surely some of the Google honchos must be aware that SU has been taken up by an enormous number of design professionals, particularly architects etc., many using 3DCG for the first time.
Google has a captive market......come up with something great and we will be falling over each other to pay for it.
Or maybe they dont really care that much?

OK, as the person who probably kicked this one off, I would like to say I really like the simplified layout.
As the menu opens in the browser the options of where to go seem a lot more immediate and clearcut.

And anotherie, featuring an incredible bottlebrush from Enviro Graphic.

Great stuff!
And I love the shot of the rustic farm shack with the A/C ducts and steel trusses above
