I have space navigator and space traveler. Do not like it in sketchup. Feels a lot more natural using mouse. But cant live without this device in all other 3d app (3ds max, cinema, rhino, autocad)

I have just recently started using it with SU and like AndriyG81 said, it just does not feel right. I do use it occasionally but I don't depend on it.

For rotating/orbiting around an object it is great but zooming in and out and panning up and down, it is just awkward.

It's just a matter of getting used to it. I also have space navigator and I am not dependent on it either (yet) but Solo says he could not live without it any more.

Yes, the problem is that you would use it with your left hand, with the mouse still being used in the right (or vice versa). The problem for most of us is that our left hand is already permanently parked over the Shift/Ctrl keys, so it just tends to get in the way.

Some people have reported that they prefer it...or at least its big brother which actually has keys built-in...but I've just found it less intuitive.
It works a charm in other stuff like Google Earth or even navigating large images.
