RE: VRAY render not working
@nitav said:
Welcome to my new post about the solution for the bug Vray and Sketchup.
This is really a badly rarely statement that sketchup is on high with the Modeling section & User friendly fast relaible 3D software. But only it is on low with the rendering section.Ya, i am going say that it is very bad for the Thread Optimization of the C.P.U, so it consist of 1 giant negative point.O.K. lets talk about the solution.!!!
Many questions i found similar to this bug on various website but, all were possibly not solved.
And in answer to this question, you will get :-1). have you tried refreshing? 2). try this: selecting all objects then copy open new file then paste then then render. 3). Hide some elements & components. 4). Bla, Bla, Bla .........
Well, I have the solution and that is very simple :-
~ Explode components in your scene as much as possible while rendering the scene.
Means : If you are modeling or importing 3D objects to sketchup file, make sure that it
should not be in deep. Do not make components under components or Groups under
groups. Upto Level 1 to 2, it is enough but do not go beyond that. It is recommended
to get rid off this BUG..!!!thank you very much this help to solve my problem of never rendering just like the first question, what happend is that I wad a text and I used the shape bender to fit the text to a curve after that my render never started all night tested, so I explode the letters as you said and thats it it worked!! also the problem of the vray light in group happend to me once, when error while trying to render appers I just purge all vray materials under plug ins /vray/help/debug. its nice to see that some one actually helps giving tips in forums, instead of just asking more questions and no answers, sorry for my bad english.thanks again

RE: Sketchup 64 bit?
I've just posted this a few hours ago but I think my post belongs here, and kind of ignoring all said before...
Q:why would you want a 64 bit?
A:to handle and render big models
Q:can I do it?
A: FU$%& YES YOU CAN!!!!
thank to Daniel Pistelli who wrote a patch to allow 64 bit users to use more ram
basiclly what he explains is that 32 bit aplication have a limit of ram given by the OS 2gb and the rest is reserve for the system this patch does the magic
I've tested and F.Y. it works
so what you need?
1:sketchup any version I guess (I've tested on
2:plenty ram(4 at least 6 for big models)I have 8gb oviosly 64 bit OS
how to install it? actually patch it.
1: go to http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php and download 4gb_patch.exe (yes this is the oficial site)
2:unrar the file run it as an administrator if any(rigth click/run as an administraror)
3:a pop up windows comes, so search for the sketchup.exe under your program filesx86
and done
belive me it works flawless, I love it and works also for any other 32 bit aplication now I can render as 3d max with realistic grass and there are no more crashes on vray!!! so good luck and happy renders and sorry my bad english. -
No more crash on sketchup vray
Hello this is my first post, I don't know if it's all ready been posted but it was really helpfull for me so lets going to the point.
this is only good news for 64 bit users whith at least 4 gigs of ram for better result 6
sketchup is a 32 bit aplication so it can't handle models that exeed 2 gb of ram wich happens a lot while rendering with vray, but this great person "Daniel Pistelli" whrote a patch so 32 bit aplications can now make use of more ram I've tested this tool and it works flawless I've been able to render really heavy and complex models in sketchup vray and it felt like I was on 3d max, sketchup also run smoother and faster, I have 8 gigs of ram and finally I can actually use it whith sketchup.
the only thing that nees to be done is to
1:open the 4gb_patch.exe
2:search for the sketchup.exe and select itit will automaticly generate a patch and a backup. sketchup must be closed before doing this, if any, right click on the 4gb_patch.exe and open it as an administrator
here is the original source: http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php
sorry for my bad english. and enjoy rendering big models on sketchup!!!!
