Since KT works with cpu, the graphic card doesn't affect the render, only viewport issues could be. It's a very strange behaviour what you described. Can you post some screenshot and a sample scene, here or at KT forum?

The follow images where created with just the selected only object imported from sketchup, no lights added. All renders were done using the preset "photonmap - medium + AA 0.3".

This first image all settings were default except for changing the sky to background color using red 7, green 9, blue 26. In other words, nearly black. Except for the sun there are no lights in the following renders

      http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/rr153/seattle221/kerkyproblem/bgcoloralmostblack.png

This image was created by just changing the sky setting from the image above from background color to sky color.

      http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/rr153/seattle221/kerkyproblem/skycoloralmostblack.png

This image was created using the settings from the above image but reducing the sun radiance color setting to .4.

      http://i479.photobucket.com/albums/rr153/seattle221/kerkyproblem/skycoloralmostblacksunradianceat4.png

This image was created with the same settings except the sun was disabled.

I have attached the kerky file saved from the above images.

If you like KT than it would seem to me that Thea is a good choice for a paid rendering engine. The same guys that develop KT developed Thea.

Yeah, Kerky has been acting strange for me. for the last couple months I have had 2 issues.

If I set the sky setting to background color and use a nearly black color, I instead get a bright blue background.

Or if for example I use sky color, suddenly I can't turn off some kind of global lighting. Even if I have no other lights in the render besides the sun and reduce it or disable it, the rendered image still looks like it was done with the sun at %100.

Here's the kicker, I built a new machine last week. fresh install of windows, sketchup, kerky, everything. New hardware except for the drives which were formatted clean. Start a new drawing, I still have the same issue. The only thing I can think of is that I am still using an Nvidia chipset video card and there must be something in one of the driver updates from the last couple of months.

Yeah, NOW it's working, lol. Meh, it's limited to tiny 800x600 images for the free version.

      Hey guys,
I am a long time Kerkythea user but am getting tired of the issues with it so I thought I would ask here about other rendering options. This is a hobby for me so I can't afford to really purchase a renderer. Is there anything else out there that is free (or costs about the same as a computer game), doesn't watermark, and doesn't limit the output size, or am I stuck with Kerky?

I see alot of Maxwell render threads and I tried to checkout the website, but it seems to be down. Are they still around or did I miss my chance to get Maxwell?

Hey, just saw this thread and tried to go to maxell render's website. It seems to be gone. Did they go out of business?

Very cool, one caveat though, Your rotation sections are too small. With the size of the rotation diameter you have there you will either A) rotate so slowly as to have no useful benefits or B) rotate so fastly that Coriolis effects will make your crew sick.

LOL, the mats are plain old colors as translated by kerkythea.

What is SDS? Most of the model uses the basic tools. there are some odd corners I made with soap skin bubble. The saucer was a basic lathe of then cut in half with the back half being constructed through pushing/pulling and scaling the profile at regular intervals till it came to the narrow part in the rear there.

      Hiya!
Just thought I would post this WIP here and see what people think. The model is not done, I still have lots of details to add. I just do a quick render in Kerkythea every now and then to get an idea of how it looks. Yea, I know, Star Trek, hehe. It's a hobby I guess. πŸ˜‰

      Hi BTM,
From what I can see, those look great, but damn, I have my LCD set to max brightness and most of your images are still too dark to see. 😐

    • RE: [Plugin] Skin.rb

I have tried several versions of this and get no results. 23, 24, and 25 seem to do nothing, ruby console is blank. versions earlier give:

      Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined method collect' for nil:NilClass> C:/Program Files/Google/Google SketchUp 7/Plugins/skin22.rb:166:in skin'

I take it this is a SU 7 problem?

Maybe this script can help you πŸ˜‰

How does a follow path tool like that possibly help me put objects on a curved face?

NM, I found a way by making my object a component and set it to snap to any surface.

ok i blew my top for nothing lol. I found out that you draw your rivit first,on a surface...them you move it to the surface you build and it sticks to it like glue perpendicular to it, only downfall is you need to place that manually

      http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x165/hondsekont/curve2.jpg

For the life of me I can't reproduce this. I am trying to put windows into a sloped and curved face as in the example here. Would really love to know the trick to this.
