running an OpenGL based 3D modeller in an emulation like Parallels or VMware is never a good idea, at least performance wise...

...don't underestimate the hardware requirements of SU, it's not a paint or office but a CAx application and thus simply needs performance-oriented and compatbile hardware.

Running SU with e.g. shared graphics "accelerators" like the Intel GMA series or gaming cards like the ATI Radeon series (under Win) is surely no good idea and will result in the known and regularly claimed display output glitches.

So your saying Shark FX took the place of Concepts unlimited?

      Scott,

Shark and Shark FX are essentially version 5 of the Concepts Unlimited product with feature improvements and updated core technology. This release introduces full parametric dimensions and constraints, multiple viewports and more modeling tools.

Also added are .OBJ export for data sharing, spline arcs, OpenGL display of textures, updated modeling kernel (ACIS R17), Autocad 2008 DWG support and updated Pro/E and CATIA v4 translators.

you can view an extended list of new features and changes at:

      hope that clarifys,

in the meanwhile rebranded to 'Shark FX' with new version 5 (inkl. SU filter) and also functional limited versions called 'Shark' (no rendering/animation) and 'ViaCAD' avail:

... one more question though, what affect is turning off "Use Harware Acceleration" going to cause me?

3D screen output is not calculated by the GPU of the video card but has to be emulated in software by the already occupied CPU... which leads to a significant speed decrease especially with larger models, i.e. no "realtime" rotating etc.

do not hesitate to check the DELL Precision series w/ Quadro FX mobile GPUs too.

would currently prefer a higher clocked dual core against a lower clocked quad core, maybe cheaper too...

when I turned hardware acceleration off, it worked again...

means: bad OpenGL support of used video driver which is - under Windoze - regularly the case w/ ATI Radeon gaming cards.

check website of GPU (or Notebook) maker for recent drivers of used card... or better switch to a CAx video card w/ mature OGL support as e.g. the nVidia Quadro FX series.

did you have changed anything to your graphics subsystem, i.e. new video driver etc. ?

try if effect vanishes if options "fast feedback" and/or "hardware acceleration" are disabled in the SU OepnGL settings.

SU on Windows doesn't use HW GL...

SU does of course use OGL under Windows also, what else ❗

Thus a video card w/ a reliable OGL support is important for avoiding the dreaded screen and printing output glitches regularly mentioned by SU f. Windows users again and again using 'gaming accelerated' video cards as e.g. the ATI Radeon series.

OpenGL support of the driver of your graphics card.

try if disabling the SU hardware acceleration (= OpenGL) allows to export correct raster files.

Und inwiefern hilft mir das jetzt weiter? 😛

@@blubb: Was soll ich sagen? Danke!!! Jetzt funktionierts.
