dear Silvercandy, if you don't bother let me know what is your machine property plz, and how much is the file size? does your machine works smooth with that file and doesn;t jump out or crashes?
i got a pretty slow machine, dual core 3.4 with 2 gig ram and 8600 gt card.Windows 32 bit.
Im gonna upgrade the end of the year to a 8 core yay.@khai said:

i bought this cool plugin, scene exporter, and this allowed me to set up a main model, and the made 3 separate files with portions of the model in.
what plugin was this? I use the same workflow in other apps so being able to do so in SU....
this plugin is a simple plugin you buy at http://www.smustard.com/script/PageExIm
I took my model with everything in it, set up the scenes i would like. Made 3 files for example, and copied the parts into that to make the model smaller. So then i have 3 files all containing parts of the model, and with this plugin i just import my scenes to them. Because its smaller file sizes and less detail, it can be rendered bigger in vray without crashing. -
RE: Silvershadow's eye candy 1: The river runs thru it
hi there, when i worked on that model, no mapping add ons were available, so i just switched on my hidden lines, and start dumping a texture on it, and click and drop the texture to the triangles till it looked ok for the scene
Funny to get all those darn plugins afterwards when the work is finished hee hee -
RE: Michalis Mother
Really really awesome
I once heard and it is soo true. Once caqn make a badly build model look awesome with proper textures, but one cannot make a good model look awesome with bad textures. In this case both are great. I really like it!! Hi 5 -
RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
i bought this cool plugin, scene exporter, and this allowed me to set up a main model, and the made 3 separate files with portions of the model in. Then imported those scenes, and rendered them. Because it has less information to handle, it did render nicely and quite big, 3000 pixels. So in photoshop, i just opened my 3 renders, put all 3 renders on top of each other and cut it out with the alphas. Is really fast. It does render longer tho, but at least it rendered.

Again, brilliant work and thanks for sharing so much of it.
Something I have always been curious about Jacques, did you model your avatar? If so, was it in SU or another app?
The avatar is just an image, but could be cool to model it

impressive work
with that type of machine work to move such as complex geometry and models?I have areally standard machine, 2 gig ram ddr 667, pentium dual core 3.4 ghz, gforce 8600 gt, windows 32 bit xp. My pc actually need a desperate upgrade to i7 but i dont have the money for this upgrade now. Too much other important stuff than this.

RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
yea i know. The ocean was a last minute thought. I modeled it, but actually had second thoughts of putting it with my boat in the final renders. After doing 244 renders, i decided to do 3 more, but i had so many of them already. I did test all the sides on a small scale and decided to do only these 3. But you're absolutely right.

RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
Hi guys as promised, some goodies for download.
You will notice that the textures on the water and hull is blurred and really low resolution. This was only done to kill file size. When you do render re link the texture in the material tab with the higher resolution texture.
Candy 1 2 were not made to be shared and i just built it with a lot of mistakes in it. Candy 3 was also not made to be shared, but eventually in the end of the course, i decided to give this whole package away.Elements on these models could have been simplified by using textures (where i actually built it) and in some cases lower poly could have been used on some curved areas. I did purposely put some unnecessary poly into the model to see if it will crash and after all of it, it still worked. These models are not for sale, these models may not be used to make money from it by selling it. Those who need it for study purposes, or people actually need some info building plastic models on these models, feel free to study them, i tried to be as accurate as i could source from the web. For those who want Candy 1, i would recommend that they download the untextured one first. Its a scene model, so only what you see is modeled. Behind there is nothing. I am also including the building plates ( the ribs and profile pictures ) for those who want to model their own ones, and the original output images, unsized for those who also want to download it.
Please do not abuse this. Its a gift to SCF.

RE: Killzone 2 - Level Design
i love killzone a lot!!! I would really love to do this one day too. I believe this should be really really hard to do from scratch only by working with a picture. Well done! Love it a lot.

RE: Randomness
Really really cool. Well done. I really think youre texturing skills are superb and should give us a load down how you go by putting textures on and preparing it. I love the detailed white models and it actually shows off a great deal of detail. You should build a mountain and put the train on a nice high steel bridge with a huge waterfall coming down the mountain as the train exits the tunnel. Superbly done! I would really love to see more.

RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
he he i dont really think google is really going to care how good or awesome models is going to be, pushing sketchup like this wont probably do any difference in the development of su 8
I'm so glad you guys like the model, was kind of skeptic if i should post so many images. But so far, it seems everyone is pleased and if i look back on candy 2 now, it really is nothing in comparison to detail on this model. Thanks guys for all the kind replies.

RE: Random renders (updated)
This is a really cool render, Really loves it. I really want to get into Vue and i think i am going to bug you more and more. I have tried Vue a couple of times, but do not get it as good as you are getting it. Really good work Pete. That i7 is working overtime again hee hee. Always great to see your artwork.

RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
The chains and fabric are modeled by hand. The chains were placed bit by bit to create the right curve.
The cables / ropes were made with tube along path rubie by TIG, awesome rubie, and the fabric on the hedgehog was made with Chris Fullmer ' s simple loft tool. No sketchy physics were used in this production. -
RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
The model does not handle too hard (quite amazed myself) but yes i had to work around some obstacles to make stuff work. There will be a tutorial prob by tomorrow covering parts of the ocean and other stuff. I have noticed something on the model side and really want to share it with you guys. I believe sketchup can handle more polygons than we actually think. I am guessing, that the model poly count at the moment is about 5 mil lopy + . Last time i checked it ran around 3 mil and it was only the half of the model. There is some programs to calculate this, but some does not work that well, because i have got triangles smaller than 1mm. My discovery is, it looks like sketchup can handle a lot, but as soon as you apply textures to such a model, it is starting to fall apart and makes it slower and slower. My guess is, anything made in sketchup, with no textures, will handle till your computer cant take it anymore. I actually tried to crash sketchup by putting too much poly count on it and see if it can crash...but it never did. If google can look at the way sketchup reads textures, i believe sketchup will speed up dramatically. I have the model to proove it, and it is still running. It does take about a 3 minutes to open, but works perfect once its open, and i dont even have a super computer. This was my biggest discovery.

RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
Thanks guys for all the comments. This time im really stepping down for a while and this is my final candy model for a very long time. I want to spend more time learning new programs and wont have time to make something like this very soon again. The endless hours that went into this has come to an end and i am actually happy its done and over with. Candy 2 's compilation was a bit all over the place and i tried to correct this by showing all the steps how this was done.
