Hi. Can somebody tell me how to use the camera function? is it possible to achieve the same thing as with the lazy script where you have a box with a camera "attached" to its centre?

what render preset did you use? Did you take advantage of the new "SketchyReplay Rendering" feature in Twilight Render?

I always use the preview animation preset as its the fastest one. i didnt know that there is a new feature in twilight. i will check it out as its something i was really missing.

    • RE: Crazy tracks

you need to add some hidden mass to each link. otherwise if the tracks are passing an obstacle and they're being stretched (because of the weight of the "tank") they will blow apart. i always do this and this trick works quite good but it's still not perfect. you are always limited because of the way the joints in sp behave. they're not very strong and the only way to make a nicely working caterpillar track is by adding hidden mass to the links and reducing the number of links per track as much as possible. check out my nicely working tank (assault gun to be precise): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipY8kgCbA94

    • RE: Tank "Overhaul": The Panther - WIP

Great job. It is really good. I undarstand you didn't want to model all the bolts and small details, but you should model the bolts on the roadwheels. It looks strange without them. Once again: grat work. waiting for more renders (maybe with textures?)

Nothing. That's just the way it is. You need some software like the free VirtualDub to convert these jpg or png files into a movie that you can save in many video formats

It's been a while and i'm back with an update. the stug video is now on youtube and the camera is almost ok. would be perfect but i messed up with timing so the tank is moving out of the picture at times. the fire and smoke from the gun i added in photoshop.

May I ask how long it took you to render these and how many cores you are using to do this. Is it a Windows or Mac machine? I really like the floor too. Did you texture this in Sketchup or V-ray? Can you show us what the raw model looks like? This is truly beautiful. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ โ˜€

Each image took about 6-8 hours to render. I left it to cook overnight. The resolution was 2200pix wide. I rendered it on a windows pc with 2 cores (core2duo 2ghz). I used a visopt file that Nomeradona created and shared somewhere on this forum. It gives great light and smooth shadows from sun light (so i had to model some vertical blinds to have the vray lights visible). The floor i textured in SU but i added bump map and reflection in Vray. Raw SU model with hidden geometry pictures below:

    • RE: Italian Kitchen - my first v-ray render

thanks solo. the countertop is made from Idroleb ( whatever that is) and it seems that the sink is indeed formed as a part of the countertop. i'm not really sure as i modeled it after a photograph as for a vray material its just gray colour with glossy reflection (ior 1,3 , glossiness 0,4)

    • Italian Kitchen - my first v-ray render

This is a kitchen from italian manufacturer. All modeling done in SU by me except for the elephant which i took from the 3dwh. Still struggling trying to achieve good lighting and smooth shadows in v-ray. Have a look and leave a comment please.

    • V-ray material problem.

Hi. i'm learning v-ray for su now. i found a problem with materials i create. sometimes the faces (highlights/reflections on the faces) are not smooth as they should be. attached image is a good example. the material is a texture with bump map, reflection layer with IOR 1.2 and reflection glossiness set at 0.6. How to make these surfaces appear smooth? the objects in the image are low poly but it doesn't matter as the same thing happens to hi poly models created using sds.

    • RE: Sketchyphysics vehicles rendered with Twilight (UPDATE)

Hi All. Thanks for the comments. To Fletch - the problem with camera i Twilight is the same problem that i pointed on twilight forum a while ago. What it is is the fact that when i have my scenes set up in sketchup and when i play sketchup animation (scenes) the camera transitions are smooth. But when twilight renders the SP animation camera bahaves weird sometime. I don't know why. I thought i figured it out already as i didn't have this problem with other SP renders (for example the Pajero) but it happened again with the Stug. At the beginning at about 6th second the camera moves to the left for about 2 frames. And at the end, at the last SU scene there is no smooth transition, the camera just jumps into position in 1 frame. I didn't setup SP to follow any SP object, nor i set the DOF. I just don't know what i did wrong. I'll render it again, set up the scenes again and see if this happen again. It must be me doing something wrong as i havent heard of anyone else having this type of problems.
