Yep - Seems duct tape actually DOES have a wide variety of uses. I have a roll in my car - well just incase.

RE: A Subsea Scene
Aren't you missing the black plumes of oil leaking? (that's almost not funny). Nice detail on the machinery although I would think that there would be some visual distortion happening due to the water. It also needs some undersea vegetation. I bet the fur plug-in would help here.

RE: IPhone 4G launched!
Having looked at both the specs for iPhone 4 and HTC EVO, I am deciding on the EVO. There are more options that are in my 'like' column for the EVO over the iPhone.
YMMV

RE: [Plugin][$] Curviloft 2.0a - 31 Mar 24 (Loft & Skinning)
I will add my kudos to the long list too. It seems to me that 2010 is really shaping up to be the year of awesome plugins.
Wonder, if we should do a top 10 plugins at the end of each year based on comments and downloads?

Getting senile
Apparently I liked the CloseOpens.rb so much that I purchased it only to find out that I already purchased it. It wold be nice if smustard would have flagged my email as a prior purchase.
Oh well, the author got my money twice.

SDS Icons?
Hi all,
I just purchased the Subdivide and Smooth. When it loaded, I have a series of 4 icons that are displaying completely blank. These are the SDS icons because I can click on them and they activate the plugin.
Is there any known issues with this and Mac's? Or it there an EASY code fix that I can do to get them to show?
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone use Photoshop ELEMENTS for PP?
Hi all,
There is no way that I can justify the cost for the full-blown Photoshop for the amount of work I do with rendering, but was wondering if the baby brother (Elements) could do PP work since I already own that? I mean it has a lot of touchup tools and it can take some plugins.
So, is there anyone who uses this? I would also love a tutorial on PP techniques. If there is a website already, I'd appreciate links.
Thanks!

RE: Second picture; downing house
I LOVE this! As others have said, it is a very unique style.
Would it be possible for you to post pics of your SU model and the Kerky rendering minus the PS pp? I'd like to see exactly what PS pp does/does not do.
Thanks!

RE: Coming to a TV near you. . .
I gave up my satellite/cable tv a long time ago and just have a box connected to the tv with internet access. It is all free (well, I pay $9 a month for Netflix). I can get 90% of the shows I really want to watch via one of these programs (Hulu, Fancast, or the individual TV network URL's)
If you don't mind watching your shows a day or two late, then this is for you. HOWEVER, if you like your sports, this is NOT for you because most sports are not rebroadcast. In that case, I am grabbing the HD channels from a couple of TV stations in the area.
So, I'm not sure what is the difference between that and Google TV is.

RE: Terrain how to move a objects(differ.Z) to same Z level

Hi,
im a crating an terrain.
I want to move a lot of line (non horizontal) to same horizontal position (same Altitude).
Is it posibble? I mean at one time, not point by point.let me see if I understand - you want to take a terrain and no matter what the elevation is, you want it all to be the same elevation? In other words - flattened?
If so, look for a ruby script called flatten. It will do this exact thing. If it is something else you are after, please elaborate.

RE: Some experience with twilight
Pretty please Twilight folks!
Please port it over to Mac. I've been following the website for a while and I still see the 'soon' for Mac - that has been that way for at least a couple of months now.
So, PLEASE let us know some sort of status - and if there is any beta going on for TwiMac, I'd love to be a participant.
Rick
BTW - Nice renders here.

RE: .quick beach house model.
I love the all-monochrome look and the style associated with it. I'm wondering how many (if any) of the objects are from the warehouse or the like?

RE: Architectural Visualization Poll
When you created a new message, at the bottom are some tabs. One of them is poll creation. This will do the poll for you. And FWIW, I think your choices are a bit too narrow. There are tons of other options out there too.

RE: Terrible time with sketchup
@gadgetmanmike said:
Well, I am in a group of musical instrument builders with a lot of talented people, one mechanical engineer autocad guy, one CNC guy. They both have a very low opinion of sketchup and they are very nice people.
I am going to learn it come hell of high water. It's good there are lot of we resources. Sometimes, a lot of resources just makes things worse until you pick one. What kind of musical instruments do you build? More curious than anything.
As for AutoCAD having a low opinion of SU - I am slowly turning to the reverse. I find when I'm in AutoCAD, that I want to click and push-pull items. As others have said, SU is the easiest 3D program to use, to visually see results. AutoCAD does have 3D, but in my opinion it is not as intuitive as SU.
I'm not out knock AutoCAD as it is my bread and butter. I am finding that I can sneak in renderings and wow the client (and the boss), so SU definitely has a foot in the door.
As others have also stated, do the tutorials even if you think you'll never use that function for your application - it might surprise you that you will urn to it at least once or twice.
Good luck and don't be afraid to ask pointed questions, there are lots of knowledgeable people on here that will almost go out of their way to help. Welcome to Sketchucation.
