    • MeshPad - Sketch to 3D

You draw with a pencil and it makes it 3D(ish).... not sure of a practical use of the meshes it generates but it can only improve.

I like these uses of AI as a companion while designing rather than the current brute force replacement of human designers.

Isn't the default packaged materials hardcoded into SketchUp?

Those are beautiful. Always sad to see reliable older infrastructure consigned to history.

Especially after decades service. I understand the need to modernise but I find the design choices for the replacement tech is dull and lacks character.

I love to see engineering and mechanics.

I don't know to be honest. You could be a unicorn when it comes to materials libraries.

      Is there ruby console errors?

@fredo6 would be best placed to offer an insight into the behaviour of ThruPaint's database building.

      @L-i-am

Sorry that went over my head, happens a lot

I meant that these test scenes with the minimal amount of scope allows you to get creative.

Emission shaders, or non-standard HDRs to just go wild. I tend to use my down time to explore weird use cases for noise patterns and colours. Happy accidents.

Why not use the Preferences to decide external library location?

I wonder if Trimble will add function to this aspect of SU over time?

Considering they upsell Vray as part of their offering I doubt we'll see a rendering engine inside SketchUp.

Would like to see this Look Dev mode extended though. Soft shadows, screen space reflections etc

    • RE: Convert groups to components

I always felt the Entity Info panel was a good place to handle component creation.

If you build some mesh object and isolate it in a wrapper(group) you can add component properties via the Entity Panel.

For me the Entity Panel should be the portal to many actions related to your selection. Currently, it just repeats functions other Panels expose.

      I can dream....

The result is great! Shot selection I really liked. The building remained the hero element in every angle so noticing the imported 3D buildings was largely avoided.

You must be delighted with the end result!

It's a real shame TwiLight isn't still developed. It is such a robust rendering engine.

Nice render. Maybe some nice texturing or bump on the fascia/soffit would help break up the uniform appearance.
