it seems to work but being completely honest the standard material editor on mac is really annoying and finding the actual material on the list becomes time consuming the more you add to the scene... I just wish someone had the solution, it appears to be an old issue and i figured it would be addressed by now...

hmm, really nothing? I see the previous posts are pretty old, hoped there was a solution to that error already...

RE: Crash after renaming material (v.2.0)
Bump.
I keep having the same error after upgrading to the newest version of vray and sketchup 2015. Is there any permanent solution to solve this problem?

Just the sides of the main box and the parameters were 2mm and 2 sides.
Prefer to work in Scale *100 and at the end Scale /100
At this Scale (mm)Sketchup don't like very tiny segments, surfaces...Thank you for the suggestion but that was never an issue for me... worked completely fine in 2014.

I quickly redrew your cabinet and then rounded over the edges on the top and sides in one go.
I double clicked with Select while holding the Ctrl key (Option on Mac) on all three sides in turn to select their edges and then ran the tool once.

Hmmm... however tempting redrawing around 60 different pieces of office furniture is I have been encountering this problem with other objects before while working on a completely different project, so from that I take it's rather the issue of program/plugins incompatibility rather than the objects themselves... Thank you very much for trying to help, I suppose this problem is gonna stay unsolved for now, will definitely have to run all the plugins separately to see which one may be causing the errors..

OK. I just tried it on my computer and it worked fine. I only selected the front and back vertical edges and the bottom edge. How were you making the selection? Is it possible you were selecting the top edge where the round over has already been done?
I don't think so, i just select the four vertical edges and try to run the roundcorner... As I said before, sometimes it works but it crashes on rather stupid moments such as unselecting a selected edge or something else as simple as that...
Sometimes i feel like with sketchup patience is everything

What edges are you trying to round over? And what values are you using for Offset and the Number of sides?
Patience is good.
Just the sides of the main box and the parameters were 2mm and 2 sides.

RE: [Plugin][$] RoundCorner - v3.4a - 31 Mar 24
the whole file is quite big, unless you mean a separate component then sure, but it crashes on things as simple as a cube.. I managed to get 2 surfaces rounded however it took me like 6 attempts or something this thing really teaches you patience.

Try disabling the V-ray plugin and see if you still get the crash.
Thanks for the quick reply... well, i did that, checked some edges, got all excited, added one more and well.. yeah. bug splat... So still no solution... Will probably try unchecking and trying all the plugins one by one, maybe i'll find something responsible for that Thanks anyway for the suggestion...

Red Foxy, do you have v-ray for SU 2015 for Mac? could you please upload the file? I really don't find any v-ray for SU 2015 for Mac.
Yeah, got it from the chaosgroup website

RE: [Plugin][$] RoundCorner - v3.4a - 31 Mar 24
Hi there.
I have been looking through the topic but can't find any satisfying answer to my problem... I am working on Sketchup 2015 for mac and the RoundCorner plugin keeps crushing it pretty much every single time i try to use it... I have checked all my plugins and they're up to date, so is the v-ray version... Also don't have any error messages when I run the program. But all the plugin needs to crush is simply trying to select or unselect ANY line and bam - there's the bug splat... Any ideas what may be causing that? I'm running out of patience -
RE: Vray for Sketchup Pro 2015 OSX 64 bit
I have the same question so now: is the one listed as the win 64bit version actually the osx version? Because its the only one listed in this area? Or has it not been moved yet?
Edit: OK i see the .exe so definitely not the osx file Well... I guess we just have to wait for the file to be moved to the proper place.

RE: Import DWG - Bug?
I am having a same problem but none of the option seems working. Also neither version of .dwg file works and suddenly sketchup won't open ANY cad file, even those that used to be easily imported a while ago. Any ideas?

For me, ambient occlusion works fine in this situation, but not with the default settings.Try to make a small radius a small amount as well, something like 0.2 radius and 0.4 for the amount of AO. Still, I must admit, that glass (table and back-splash) looks brilliant. I'd never succeed to make one like that.
Regards
StefanWill sure try that today! Thank you

Good start, Katt. To me, the window in the first image (direction of grain, detailing, etc.) and the loss of detail in the kitchen are the biggest areas of improvement.
You are totally right, I am definitely not satisfied with the kitchen and will have to add more life to it! Thanks Also good point with the window.

Hello Roo Evans and thank you I totally agree with you, and really appreciate all the suggestions. As I said the engine I am using is vRay and will update you on the material info as soon as i get my hands back on the project, since I am taking a little break from it and work on my major project for the final year of my studies
You are totally right about the windows and will definitely work on improving that
As for the concrete and woodflor not tiling properly - thanks Didn't see it that bad, but since it is obviously noticeable will definitely improveWill sure keep it updated!
You're welcome Don't worry about the floor too much, that's the 'smallest improvement' I'd make. As Stefanq stated, also try to use AO. This might improve the scene dramatically!
Looking forward to the updates!
Cheers Will be updating soon for sure!
This is why i love constructive critique! Thank you so much guys, all your words are appreciated and taken into consideration!

I don't have anything to offer... It looks quite perfect. Especially all the imperfection. the table slightly turned, the shades drawn at different levels, pillows on the floor... It looks like a photo.
as far as the cabinets I would remove the reflections... Unless it's metal most don't reflect that way. it's more of a dull shine on laminate. or a glare if you will.
Fantastic work.
Thank you Krisidious I thought that those imperfections would make the flat look more lively, if you know what I mean, rather than looking like straight from catalogue Will definitely try with the reflections, but I wanted it to have this very polished finish. Anyway I am willing to try anything so thank you for the suggestions

Hey. This is my first post in a gallery forum here. This is pretty much a second scene I have ever been working on in Sketchup and all the comments and tips would be really appreciated, so I could develop it more and help it look better.
I know that kitchen still recquires a lot of work, especially the fronts of the cupboards, I really don't like how flat they appear, and have been trying to fix that but tbh can't really get past that "flat" effect...Really lovely , good job
Thank you very much
@unknownuser said:
 what render engine do you use ?
As fot the flat effect, I do agree as the left part of the image looks a little bit flat, it maybe needs darkening some part in Photoshop...but anyway, it is already Great.
Thank you, the engine I am using is vRay

Hi RedFoxy, welcome to the gallery forum! I'm quite new here too.
First off, these are great images for just being a second scene! I'm already eager to see what you'll be making after 10 scenes/projects.
Nevertheless, there's always room for improvement, some additional info would always be handy. (Render engine, material settings of the ones you don't like),..
-The woodgrain on the window frame all run in one direction
-Windows are a bit simplistic looking
-Concrete texture doesn't tile perfectly and is a bit low-res/tiled too big
-Woodfloor doesn't tile perfectlyMaybe try to play a bit more with the camera (levelling it, focal field so the scene looks slightly bigger, etc)
Still, very neat work. Keep us updated!
Cheers,

RE: Exterior Real Estate
Nice work you did here! It was said before, but I also really like the PP transformation! Architecture is nice itself too, really my type

RE: What's your beginners tip?
Some of these are really good advices. I keep having trouble with keeping things tidy, but as it was mentioned so many times, nothing makes the work easier than well created groups.
All i can add is that practice makes perfect so keep working with sketchup on a daily basis. Since I started my regular -couple of hours a day, everyday- practice with sketchup I have learned a lot for such a short time, the progress is easily noticeable. -
RE: V-ray materials disappear??? why is that..
@thomthom said:
I minimize this by not modelling when VfSU is active. I keep VfSU disabled when I model.
I'm not 100% sure, but it appear to be that if you copy/paste or import geometry while vFSU 1.49 is loaded there's a risk of loosing the layers.
Thank you thomthom. Will sure try that, hopefully it helps. It's a really annoying problem.

RE: Problem with casting shadows from invisible object
I am not a specialist in sketchup yet, since I have started not so long ago, so I am not sure if it will solve your problem, but since I have been trying recently to create a perforated box maybe this will help you, as it helped me.
What I did was applying the texture to both sides of each plane. If only applied outside it would still render as non-transparent thing, but applying it to both sides of each wall has made it work. -
RE: V-ray materials disappear??? why is that..
Hi.
I have a similar problem with V-Ray version 1.49 for Mac. Materials don't exactly disappear, but after saving and opening a file again they lose their layers and/or bitmap textures and appear just as colours (all the numeric settings are saved though). For example a material for the outside landscape would be there, but lose its emissive layer... Does anyone have or had this problem and by any chance knows a solution to it? It really makes the work twice as long, since I have to upload all the materials from the beginning and then apply them one by one...
