very nice work, I like how yo show tultiple styles and post processing, which do you work in most Vue, Piranesi, on native SketchUp?

another great example of the power of Sketchup! BEAUTIFUL WORK! This would be so fun to do a marker rendering of... but it totally is un-necessary, maybe for fun I will color an exterior shot for you.

this is what sketchup is all about, these are some of the nicest native images I have seen in a while, no need for flashy rendering just good solid design and great imagery. I get a great feel for the spaces... nice work!

Coen - my client totally agrees with you and made similar comments.

Tinanne - I agree that the palms need to be rotated, I started to do it on the left side of the image and failed to continue it to the right side. I did not use piranesi, just hand colored with a wacom tablet and Photoshop CS4.

thank you for all of your comments, I must give credit where credit is due the border and the image "breaking" the border is directly inspired by Tinanne's beautiful work, I have done a few of these stylized borders and my clients love this look, glad you all like it.

what a fun model... too bad you cannot take it to the next level but time is money, keep it in a back file and work on it in your spare time this model has such great potential for whatever direction you want to take it, great job!

    • Entry Sign and landscape model

I have not posted in a long time so I thought I would throw this up on the forum, here is my latest project output, I have included a very low res line drawing version and the finished painting. I created all of the hardscape and trees in SU, bnased on the clients initial design, and then "painted" it in PS CS4. I have also been working with Painter X to create other rendering styles (color pencil, water color and enhanced SU) to give my clients a choice of different rendering techniques for there designs. Let me know what you think.

      Thanks.

    • RE: Ruby toolbars and icons

Thanks for the help Chris... I feel like a bit of an idiot all I had to do was check the boxes foa "all files/folders" and "use folder names" and everything extracted to the proper locations... the stupid little things will be my end!

thanks chris, this confirms how complex this can be (if you don't know what you are doing!) I will reload all of the rubys and extract them to the proper location.

    • RE: Apartment Complex WIP

I really like the marker/watercolor rendering style. The only think I would say is to add some entourage, this building could be anywhere, cars, trucks, trees, and people would give it that final touch that would make this image really jump off the page. Post the final work when completed, would love to see the finished product.

    • Ruby toolbars and icons

I have finally started to explore the giant and exciting world of Ruby scripts. I am so impressed by what all of the programmers are doing. I have started to get frustrated because many of the rubys have well thought out toolbars and icons, but I don't know where to put them or how to correctly install them (especially all the .png files). Is there a filing structure, a special folder to put the toolbars and images, or is it something that each ruby is unique and looks for the toolbar or images separately? I have found alot of people do the ruby first and then they or another person makes an icon for it and uploads it to the forums, everyone else seems to know where these go but I seem to have lost that chapter in the how-to book 😕 . I see a great use for all of these new tools but without the images the toolbars are difficult and without the toolbars I forget what I have until I use it a few times.

      Thanks

    • RE: Phase 2...

As much as rendering would add more flash to you imagery, theses are great and really show off the theme of the project, the detail in the architecture, and the wondeful sense of place... Great job.

Tom - I am getting excited! I see huge potential with this... as soon as the planting plan gets finished I am going to try a full landscape with you ground covers, shrubs, and trees... look for it in a week or so!

thanks for all of the comments. Tom thanks again for your trees they have been a lifesaver. I am going to try to put the scalled down foliage in for shrubs and ground covers once the planting plan is finalized.

Ecuadorian - The rocks Landforem is all SketchUp (mostly just stacking blocks and sinking them into the landscape) the architecture is the ArchiCAD part.

Just finished up the preliminary of this model. The Architect built the house in ArchiCAD and converted it to a 3ds model, after massive cleanup and a lot of land form changes this is the front of the house, the exciting part of the project is the back yard with pool, pond, creek, and waterfalls, that is the next challenge it was mostly complete until the client saw the preliminary model and revamped major portions of the design (but that is why we build models right? Thanks to Tom for the trees, (now you can see where I want to put all of the shrubs we discussed). this is pure SU output and at the moment there is no plan to render it other than post processing in Photoshop after the landscape plans are finished. Comments appreciated. - Bob

    • RE: Help me please!Perspective Street Scene

have you looked at the 3Dwarehouse? There should be a few examples in sketchup format that you could open with no problem, if you had a more specific topic or could elaborate on your needs there are lots of great people on the forum that will help out.
