RE: Visual Puns & Puzzles
hmm in that case I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the expression you're aiming at. let someone else take a guess.
my picture depicts an object that most people use daily...maybe this picture makes it more fun...

did you draw the short straw?
here's another simple one...

this is not a private thread, and if you are feeling the same, feel free to post your own pictures.
In another words: My purpose is not to offer "my" album, even if I am the majority contributor . Everybody which will come with his own eye and his own sens of poetry will enrich this inorganized album. I'm sure that here and there, one or other architectural detail will give a seed of idea to achieve something.
ah, I hadn't noticed that at first. I will share some pictures too.

Brilliant picture, imho!
I wonder how they manage to hang up the ones in the middle... they must have some kind of pulley-system...

RE: [Plugin] Make Fur v.2.1.0(20140323)
is there any difference between 1.4b and 1.4d(c?) if I'm on a windows machine?

RE: [Plugin] Superellipse 1.2
Really nice... but it reminds me... I used to use POV-Ray some years ago, in which it was possible to create a 3d-superellipsoid.
Could you make that??? would be so awesome, I used to use it a lot!
Perhaps in SU it would need a variable for level of detail, though...@unknownuser said:
The superellipsoid object creates a shape known as a superquadric ellipsoid object. It is an extension of the quadric ellipsoid. It can be used to create boxes and cylinders with round edges and other interesting shapes. Mathematically it is given by the equation:
The values of e and n, called the east-west and north-south exponent, determine the shape of the superquadric ellipsoid. Both have to be greater than zero. The sphere is given by e = 1 and n = 1.The syntax of the superquadric ellipsoid is:
SUPERELLIPSOID:
superellipsoid
{
<Value_E, Value_N>
[OBJECT_MODIFIERS...]
}The 2-D vector specifies the e and n values in the equation above. The object sits at the origin and occupies a space about the size of a box{<-1,-1,-1>,<1,1,1>}.
Two useful objects are the rounded box and the rounded cylinder. These are declared in the following way.
#declare Rounded_Box = superellipsoid { <Round, Round> }
#declare Rounded_Cylinder = superellipsoid { <1, Round> }The roundedness value Round determines the roundedness of the edges and has to be greater than zero and smaller than one. The smaller you choose the values, the smaller and sharper the edges will get.
Very small values of e and n might cause problems with the root solver (the Sturmian root solver cannot be used).

RE: Circle intersect face *ugs
I get the same thing sometimes. Not only with circles. All kinds of shapes.
My solution is usually to draw a line over one of the edges of the shape that needs to be cut out.. this usually solves the problem. if it doesn't, I draw a line from one side to the other, crossing the new face. sometimes this does solve the problem, sometimes it doesn't... -
RE: Aligning faces
A nice trick I like to use is the following, but mathematically not exactly the same as the above options. It's very fast though, and versatile.
- Activate pencil tool
- Hold mouse over rectangle (or any other desired face) until it says 'on face'
- from then on, hold shift.
- draw any desired shape, aligning with points or lines already in the drawing (NB: aligning with a line is not the same thing as aligning with a point!)
- after finishing the shape, release shift.

RE: [WIP] 1: Renovation of an oldfashioned corridor
nice! I see you've added your wive's red-heeled high heels again love those shoes!
using a mirror in that corridor is a great idea to make it seem bigger!
but if that (part of the) closet is made specifically for shoes, you could put the planks closer together, so it will fit more shoes women like that -

RE: Down Town re-do -(Edited Link to PDF)
I can acces it no problem.
Nice to see how improving the facades can upgrade the atmosphere of an area so drastically!
But what I always wonder when I see such pictures: does it look as good when it's not sunny? Also; if you put stuff in your text about the lighting, it would seem logical to also show how the lighting improves the situation. -
RE: Interior Render using VRAY
Whow, nice.
I like the way it seems a little alive, by that chess-set and the stuff in the kitchen...Just a few issues:
- the number of segments for the chrome lamp's pole are way too few
- the overall lightness seems okay, but the lighting and the view out of the window do not accord. it's way too bright for a sunset scene.
- the glass tabletop seems very thick
- the blue door reminds me of my primary school...

RE: Twilight project
very nice, jo-ke! I always like to see such an improvement in a project!

RE: Champagne bottle and glasses
chriscook you can use the shadow dark slider of the SU shadowsettings to influence the lightness of the IBL (and its shadows). But that will influence the overall lightness quite drastically as well. Maybe you just need a better IBL anyway; really nice glass and liquid materials
