The reason your edges are "off" has nothing to do with face orientation or smoothing. Rather some of your edges simply are not parallel or do not form right angles. SU has built-in inferencing that helps you to draw orthogonal lines -- namely the various axes (red, green and blue). When you extend a line with the pencil tool you should see the line color in one of these 3 before you make the final click. Another help for the beginner is to set your display preferences to show "edge color by axis" (in the style settings). Note how some of your edges show in black when you turn on this display option.

RE: Position camera
Sorry, I misunderstood your question. The position camera command wants always to animate. For complex models, try wireframe mode, then switch back display after the camera move.

RE: Position camera
Under the "view" menu or "model information" dialogue, select "animation", then uncheck "enable scene transitions". You could make this your default template as well, then just turn it on when you are ready to make scene animations.

RE: Painting parking lines
First, set your style to display edges "by material", then select the lines (edges) that you want to color (use wireframe mode to save time and drag select), then paint with blue or yellow. Drag select with the ctl key to add all the lines you want colored to the selection set -- then just position your paint cursor on one -- they will all get colored at once. Done.

RE: [Tutorial > Modeling] Push/Pull Multiple Faces (Workaround)
Ditto to Jean-Franco's experience - link returns the same message.

RE: A Pencil Style for ya...
tinanne, You can export animations with sketchy edges. Maybe some of the more elaborate styles like Ross does on Formfonts may be a problem (haven't tested them all), but sketchy edges in SU work just fine. You can also export multiple single frames (animation options) and assemble them....

RE: Different colour of the same component?
Gai,
It's a function of your display setting - set transparency quality to "nicer" (rather than "faster") to fix the problem.pmiller
