ok ....well i just want to say the fact that the document snaps off to the right and dives under the tray at the last scroll click is a design flaw and should be looked at. it is not a hardware issue since the same happens on my laptop. Maybe it was addressed in 2020; i am still running 2019.

Document is not centered
Using the hyper-scroll wheel on the mouse when i zoom into any part of a document, then zoom back out to the max, the document often scoots off to the right and becomes half-hidden beneath the tool tray stack. This happens even if i slowly click-scroll the mouse wheel - and it happens at the very last click. This forces me to lose productivity by having to drag it back out. The document size was probably expanded from 36x48 to 36x72 after the initial setup....i don't know if that matters. But I would like to learn how to keep it centered.Or should i just use shift+z instead of scroll-zooming out?

RE: LO 2019 FILE SIZE
Speaking of file size management, I use a feature in Adobe Acrobat Xl pro and/or DC that reduces PDF file size considerably without noticeable loss in fidelity. I don’t know if this applies to users who generate models with non-default styles, however. I attached a 3-page collection of snips of a 7 MB pdf, which, after I ran the reduction operation, size was squashed down to 1 MB. FYI....I created the LO file using hybrid and line scale @ .2 pt and when I exported it to PDF, I chose 'set image resolution' to high.

RE: LO 2019 FILE SIZE
Well, I can't have such large files clogging up my PC. I don't even do any rendering. I wish Layout could work like AutoCAD where the bulk of the drawing resides in x-refs.

LO 2019 FILE SIZE
Why would a one-page 8.5x11 LayOut file with one view port and only one 5 word text label be over 28,000 KB in size? The associated skp file is massive, so i unlinked it and now the viewport is embedded. However, the file size remains over 28,000 KB.

'SAVE' button is missing from Standard Toolbar
Only happens on one PC, both of which have same version number 19.0.685.

RE: Fooled by 'enable length snapping'
Thanks Box......I have been trying working without it today, and so far so good. Not sure why I thought it would be beneficial in the first place.

Fooled by 'enable length snapping'
I was trying to move some objects a few inches. However, the move command was unresponsive. In a panic, I started removing portions of the model, which was over 100,000 KB, thinking I was starting to go over the memory limit. But then it dawned on me......I temporarily increased the length snapping increment from my typical 1/8'' to 24'' a few days ago and I forgot to change it back. (I almost NEVER touch this setting) Crisis solved!

RE: Importing cad loaded with proxy objects
Stay away from Autodesk objects that are 'surfaces'. I cannot break these down - no matter what.

Importing cad loaded with proxy objects
i think the attached .dwg has something called surfaces and regions. can it be exploded 100% into vector linework before i import it into skp?

RE: Explode a component or group while preserving its axes
That's not a bad idea, actually. I can place a guide point at my component's X,Y,Z intersection before exploding it. Smustard's Midpoint extension does the trick. Thank you Dave R. (See? Sometimes it pays to drill down.)

RE: Explode a component or group while preserving its axes
Unfortunately your suggestion does not preserve the axes. And using unique components is problematic for the way i generate my non-welded pipe system models. I am forever re-sizing objects. it's easier for me to explode and resize a copy of a component that is already situated in my model than it is to jump to a window containing a long list of components and searching for the right one. but when i explode said component, the axes that i had carefully placed in the fitting's center-line is lost and i am forced to jockey the new group back into position. This has everything to do with maintaining a fast work flow. if i had the luxury of non-existent deadlines, groups would be my models. But what i gain in speed-modelling, is lost when i generate the construction document with LayOut. Rather than drag out a components instance name when i attach a label, i have to type in the description manually. So I need to think this whole method over.

RE: Explode a component or group while preserving its axes
Is there a way to convert a component into a group without having to explode it?
