Here's this weekend's panorama. 64 hours on a Core2 Quad 2.5Ghz 4000x2000 jpeg
If I've understood it right, they're adjusters. the top and bottom connectors are threaded into the centre section and it's 8 sided like a big nut. Turning it with what must be the mother of all spanners would enable them to adjust the tie down's angle. That part of the drawing was hard to read.
There are 2 ball joints (one at the top, one at the bottom) within the tie down post. I asume they'd have to adjust the tie downs position due to thermal expansion etc on the Launch platform.
Mr James is quite right.
I got the as built drawings for the Mobile launch platform/Launch umbilical tower for the SaturnV, the scale of it is just fantastic. 78 pages of what you see below!
I've seen a few models but I fancied doing my own, There are lots of photos of the Saturn V but finding good reference photos of the launch platform is hard work.

You try holding an iPhone next your your ear with an iPad at arms length and spinning on the spot. If it wasn't for the fact that I'd sensibly had my 11am whisky it'd been a lot worse.

Nope
I'll give you a clue, Inside the VAB an S-IC, S-IIB, S-IVB, LM,SM and CM are stacked on an MLP/LUT and then taken using the CT to either LC39A or LC39B whereupon the CT parks the MLP/LUT upon 6 of the things above
Come on I'm practically drawing you a picture
I've just kicked off this weekends panorama, I've set Twilight to save it every 10mins to my dropbox folder.
Here's a link to it:
Twilight tends to create big jpegs (opening and resaving them usually halves their size) so be warned if you chose to view it. It could be 10Mb or more hence why I've done a URL link and not an IMG link here.
As I said it'll be updated every 10mins so it'll get more refined as time goes on.
It may seem like I've only ever worked on this project bit its not true, ITS NOT TRUE I TELL YOU!!!
They've either been for too boring or in the case of the prison far to sensitive to show.
This is a little something I'm having fun with for my own self gratification, can you guess what it is?
OK,
I've deleted the old Picasa album and reuploaded the 52 images into a new one:
http://picasaweb.google.com/100514400832478538257/1287StPetersSUFinals?authuser=0&feat=directlink
I tested it and it looks OK, I've edited the 1st post with the correct link.
@hellenbak
Try it now, it should be this album:
http://picasaweb.google.com/100514400832478538257/1287StPetersSUFinals?authuser=0&feat=directlink
Edit - Fixed the link to the album, it appears it was corrupt.
@Pixero
A photographer friend has Pano2VR http://gardengnomesoftware.com/pano2vr.php and he converted the 6 images from the CubicPanoOut script to an equirectangular image for me. I did the 6 images at 2000x2000 and he converted them to a 4000x2000 this way the edge/profile lines came out a bit thinner than they would have had I done the 6 images at 1000x1000
Here's a link to a very rough YouTube vid showing the Pixeet app on my iPad:

@hellenbak
Your right, I used a different browser without me being logged in to my Google account and I got the same message, weird.
I've deleted the album and I'm uploading the images again.
Give it 15 mins to upload and for me to edit the first post for the new album and post another link here.
Last nights render.....
Its in this Picasa Album along with the other renders
@hellnbak
Try it now, all the Picasa links were https, I've changed them to http. I cant test it as it takes 'me' to 'my' album

Thought that might get your attention
Hello All,
It’s been a while since I posted here, I had to check myself, it was May 2010!!! Damn….
For the newer folk here, I’ve been working on a church here in Northern Ireland since 2004; for a long time it was a back burner project, working on it whenever I/We had gaps between other projects. Finally in 2009/10 the project was given the go ahead and recently, I’m pleased to say its finally finished.
I've done some posts about the church before mostly on this thread so instead of making a bunch of comments about individual images/photos I’ll leave it to you to ask any questions you might have.
Here are a bunch of links to some Picasa albums containing a range of photos/image of the Sketchup model and the real church.
Picassa album of photos taken prior to construction beginning
Picasa Album of photos taken during construction.
Picasa album of photos of the finished church
Picasa album of images from the finished Sketchup model
As I own Twilight Render I thought I should use it!
Picasa album of images from the model rendered in Twilight.
I’ve done no post processing in Photoshop/other .
I’m rendering an image each night and a panorama each weekend so this album will be updated daily.
I’m rendering the panoramas at 4000x2000 and the images at 3000x2250.
I’ve found an app for the iPad called Pixeet 360 that not only enables you to view the panoramas but using the gyro in the iPad you can move the iPad around to look at the building, up, down and all around, it brings a smile to the face of anybody who ‘plays’ with it.
They can be hosted by Pixeet and (with luck) linked below:

Well done! I'm truly impressed. That's a lot of work you've done there.
Do you have an example of the drawings you worked from?, I'd love to see what type of info you had.
Hello all,
I've not updated this thread for a while so I thought I'd show you what's happening with the church.
This is the view that greets you as you walk in.
The finished floor level will be at the base of the columns/top of the pyramid founds.
View of the new foundations and recently stripped walls.
Good view from the Choir gallery. Nice clean site eh?
Once the plaster/render was stripped off this is what was found!
The bricks disintegrate when you so much as look at them, a decision of what to do as not yet been made!
Finally some Sketchup!
This is the under floor heating. It consists of steel boxes (green) cast into the floor with convection radiators inside them. Grills (pink) flush with the finished floor top them off.
A slightly closer view.
Same view but with the floor(unfinised) and pews visible. The Monsignor decided on new deeper pews so its been a bit of a battle getting the new pitching to work within the old column/walls
Another view of the pews but showing the nealers.
Same again but with the nealers in the up position.
I'm currently working on 3 different models; Floor/Pews, Dry lining, Organ/Choir area and at some point they all be recombined back into the master Proposed model.
The old organ has been completely removed as it was found to be beyond economic repair, a new super-duper one is currently being designed. I may have been mistaken but I'm convinced that I heard the designer talking about a Hemi V8 powered turbo pump from a space shuttle main engine to power the lower notes, apparently it give a richer, smoother sound.
P.S.
In case your wondering, I do work on other projects, but none I can/could/would tell you about.
What got me was his proportions, the door, windows, basic building height etc. are very good. I don't imagine for a moment he entered any values whilst modelling it so its all visual guess work.
Hello all,
Another big gap between posting here but this is worth a message.
I was over in Warwickshire visiting family and my 7yr old nephew wanted to see the model of the church he'd been told I was building, I duly showed him, told him it was done in Sketchup and thought no more of it.
The next day my sister emails me this:
[flash=480,360:2yxyy4le]http://www.youtube.com/v/QIH_iGaHpSo&ap=%2526fmt%3D22[/flash:2yxyy4le]
She tells me he did if after seeing Sketchup for the first time only 1 1/2 hours before!
This morning (3 days later) I get another email 'Jay builds his own house this morning' with this attached:
[flash=480,360:2yxyy4le]http://www.youtube.com/v/ymgtkVm6fhg&ap=%2526fmt%3D22[/flash:2yxyy4le]
Please note the email title...THIS MORNING, this morning! its a Saturday and he's up designing and knocking out models of houses before I've even had my 17th cup of coffee.
Woh! I say woh there boy, that's just not how it's done in these parts, Ya just can't be goin' around showin' up the big boys, yer going to get yourself hurt, Hurt I say!.
Hello all, thanks for the comments. Personally I need all the help I can get to produce a decent image, I'm OK at the building side of things but when it comes to anything artistic I'm usually stumped.
Scott,
Holy S*** Scott, I'm episodic so only get them periodically, I don't think I could cope with chronic CH's, 14 months @ 7-8/day...boy you must be going through the pure oxygen faster than a rain forest can make it!
EDIT:
I wrote the stuff below before I re-read Scots post and realised that what he's suffering is measurably worse than I go through, I was going to take it out because I wrote it assuming Scott was new to the world of CH's and some of it would have been/is patronising.
I've decided to leave it here in case there is anyone else out there who suffers or more importantly doesn't know that the excruciating pain they get all of a sudden at 3am every day is actually treatable.

I've suffered from cluster headaches for about 8 years, the first batch were about 6-10 events and as I didn't know they were CH's. I just used regular pain med's putting them down to stress - FAIL!
When I got the 2nd batch (15-20 events) about a year later I was straight down the doctors and was very very lucky to have a doctor who had studied neurology and knew them straight away. They are often mis-diagnosed for years in some people leading a number of them to commit suicide. CH's are also known as suicide headaches by the way!!
The doctor prescribed me Imigran tablets(Sumatriptan) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumatriptan. These are MAGIC tablets, never have I taken any med's that and have an effect so quickly; about 1/2-3/4 hour from taking one to pain free.
Since then I've had them about every 18 months with (worryingly) the last 2 clusters lasting about 2 months with on average 2 attacks a day.
For this most recent cluster (40-50 events)I got Imigran Injections, they're like the disposable ones diabetics use that do all the nasty work for you, all you have to do is put it against your thigh and press the button....Ouch! WOW what a difference; 10 mins from pain to COMPLETELY pain free.
The only problem with Sumatriptan is that any more than 2 tablets/injections in 24 hours and you run the risk of stopping your heart. I weighed this up on a couple of occasions and chose the chance of death over the CH pain and took once or twice upto 4 in 24 hours!!

Hello all,
I haven't posted here for a while due to a 2 month batch of cluster headaches that are only now going away, so I thought I'd come back with a little gift for everybody.
I stumbled across this: http://jakegarn.com/the-rule-of-thirds/ and thought it might be useful to have a simple style with the Fibonacci spiral as an overlay for image composition.
The style itself is just the basic default one without visible axis and a transparent overlay.
In the attached zip file (FibonacciSTYLES.zip) there is a folder with 8 styles; 4 portrait and 4 landscape with the spiral rotated/flipped in each 4.
Copy the folder to your styles folder (usually C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Styles) and you should find it in the dropdown list on the Styles Pallet/Window
I've also attached the original 8 PNG's that I used in case you want them.
The way I see them being used is that you'd switch to one of the Fibonacci styles, compose the view, switch back to your preferred style and then save the scene.
Enjoy...
