TIG, yes, thanks, actually I have been trying to use your tool, but sadly it doesn't work for some unknown reason... I followed the instructions which seem pretty clear & can't get it to work 😞

I have made a component that glues to "any" & has cut opening checked but when i try & use it (ie it is in place on a face of a 'wall' & i r-click & choose punch ) I get this message 'no suitable punching component selected, exiting'... maybe i have just not understood the procedure

    • Yaml schpamel

hello, after doing some cleaning up of plugins (ie removing a whole bunch i rarely need) I get this message on SUv8pro start up:

      Error Loading File yaml.rb
no such file to load -- date

& I can't work out what is invoking this... there is a yaml folder here: C:\Ruby186\lib\ruby\1.8\yaml but oddly no yaml.rb, has anyone any idea what i should do to fix this ?

      thanks

      Hi

I tried to add this plugin to SUv8 Pro & got this message:
      Error Loading File cutting_windows.rb
      (eval):719: compile error
(eval):610: syntax error, unexpected ',', expecting kEND
      faces_and_heights[0].pushpull (faces_and_heights[1]), false
      ^Error Loading File yaml.rb
no such file to load -- date

Does anyone have an idea what is going on ?
      Thanks in advance folks,

      Hmm, thanks & meantime I found this : http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=29032
which seems to sort the problem for me... so heh makes me happy as I have tons of things loaded that I use...
Hope one day Google gets 'round to making a loader/unloader for plugins that's easy to use...

Anyhow, thanks to all you clever people who know how to ruby script !

Hi, this is a lovely pugin, however there appears to be an issue concerning the context menu in other tools becoming greyed-out when it is enabled... http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2010/05/sketchup-context-menu-greyed-out.html
I don't fully understand the explanation at this above post link, but following the advice to disable FredoScale seems to fix the greyed out context menu...
Is there a fix in the pipeline ?
Anyway, it's a minor thing once one knows, & thanks for the good work.

      TIG

      thanks for all that:
I removed SP3 from plugin folder & the mirror3.6 worked fine... I just tried your Classextensions re-write; it didn't fix my conflict, but heh, never mind, I don't really use SP3 but mirror is too useful to miss, so I'm going with that & hope the SP guys will sort their thing out one day...

      hi folks,
I have been using mirror.rb v3.6 without problems for a while... until today where i'm using SU8 on a windows 7 machine as opposed to the normal vista i used b4... now mirror does nothing & the following gobbldy gook appears in ruby console:

      C;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/Mirror.rb;266;in `mirror'
      C;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/Mirror.rb;178;in `onLButtonDown'
      C;/Program Files (x86)/Google/Google SketchUp 8/Plugins/Mirror.rb;266

      anyone have an idea ?

TIG, thanks, yes I have checked on that... I had already attributed full rights as I'd seen similar comments, but have redone it to be sure πŸ˜„ Strangely, I have never seen this compatibility folder, but heh, windows vista is such a soup, who knows...

I'll see if everything is better now & let you know πŸ˜„

    • RE: [Talk] Plugins Index

Thanks TIG, that's the version i have, & sadly on SU 7.1 it refuses to create the flattened on groundplane sections... & in SU8 it sometimes doesnt work either, but that is on very complex models !
I wonder if you know anything about why some plugins work & others not in a vista environment (french language)? Vista seems to create duplicates, but not of all plugins, in a virtual store "C:\Users"xx"\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7" very odd, dunno if that has any influence of ruby scripts, anyway some days I feel like going back to XP where pretty much everything works fine...

Thanks for all your hard work & good luck

      Can't Choose Materials...
      [attachment=0:2n3jv71d]<!-- ia0 -->webqq_app.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:2n3jv71d]

Hi there, i just tried v.06beta in su7 and su8 and in both can't select material. In 8 i can get it to make a section that has a black fill... infact it is a group in a group sou you can go in and manually change the face material as a workaround. & in 8 if I dont make a perfect group from scratch it won't work at all...
The idea is a wonderful one, so all I can say is bravo for doing this, & I hope that a really stable fully functioning version will see the light of day ! Maybe my problems (as so often) come from Vista & it's in french so Program Files folder is seen as "Programmes" which seems to f up lots of plugin's who look for precise path names in english... Vista also seems to make copies of some (but not all ?) plugins in another deeply hidden folder... some days I hate microsoft but heh...

Anyway, do keep up the good work !
All the best & happy new year

      @tig said:

This is a known bug caused by SketchyPhysics rewriting the code of some of the API's own Group class, which is used by Mirror. I'm not sure what the issue is.
Perhaps if you bring pressure to bear on the SketchyPhysics side they could fix their code to stop the problem!
AS SketchyPhysics loads after Mirror could you try renaming 'Mirror.rb' as 'zMirror.rb' so it loads afterwards -perhaps what SP breaks will stay OK this way and hopefully SP will still work... πŸ˜•

Thanks for yr speedy reply... I tried the workaround, but alas to no avail ! I guess you're right, we have to ask the SP guys to fix there stuff ! Thanks anyway, & meantime their stuff is out & yours is in as totally indispensable (I don't understand why the gogol people haven't put in a mirror command as a basic standard tool like in any other cad program !).

      hello

maybe i've missed something, but I tried mirror 3.5 with sketchyphysics and it won't do the mirror operation... Once the sketchyphisics has been removed no problem... I had thought I had understood that 3.5 fixed this (amongst other things)... shame as it's a great tool.
(using v7 on a vista platform)...

thanks anyway to TIG for all the time & trouble.
