For the logitech mouse, you need to set the scroll wheel button to 3 (there is no middle option). At least, that what worked for my bluetooth one.

RE: External Hardrives?
I have used Maxtor OneTouch, Seagate, and Western Digital My Book premium.
Overall, I like the My Book and the Seagate the best.
Seagate uses a program called Bounceback for updates and it is really fast; much much better that the retrospect Express that comes with the Maxtor.
Reliability has been excellent with all of them.
I think that Seagate is phasing out firewire connections (they are starting to use esata, which my Mac doesn't have).

RE: WACOM tablet in sketchup
I, too, only use my Wacom for photoshop. In fact, I never use my mouse in photoshop.
Sketchup, however, for me, is a 3 button mouse world. I have a Wacom Graphite (without all the hot buttons and such). Not being able to orbit with the mouse button is unacceptable. I also have the 3 x 5 Wacom which isn't very comfortable with the mouse that came with it.
It is really true, too, that it takes some practice to get used to. The first day can be pretty frustrating/comical.

The location of the templates folder is not quite intuitive on the Mac

RE: Lighting Plugin for Sketchup
This is a great WIP!
Please, dear God, tell me it will work on Macs!
Thanks

RE: A question about notebook battery usage
As far as Mac's go, You don't want to take the battery out. The laptop will actually reduce the processing power available when the battery is out. I am not sure of the particulars (whether it reduces the amount of available cores or if it reduces the available processor speed), but I do know that it is not desirable.
As far as battery health; you are supposed to calibrate the battery once a month (let the computer run off of the battery until it shuts itself down and then attaching the power supply.
Other than that, I would just use it and don't worry about it.
My Macbook Pro is about 18 months old; I use it 95% of the time with the power supply, and it is just recently starting to show signs of not holding as long of a charge as before, though not bad enough to replace yet.
I am actually looking forward to having to get another battery so that I have two!

RE: New script: Projection toolbar update
When I click on the link in the first post, I am receiving a note that that topic does not exist.
Is there somewhere else I can download this update?
Thanks Didier, your projection tools are awesome!

RE: Click-drag-release vs. click-move-click
Try setting your scrollwheel button to 3 in your preferences. I am using a bluetooth Logitech mouse with my Macbook Pro and this is what worked for me. No mouse drivers necessary.

RE: My Scooby
Sweet ride, Craig! I bet that ride is hoot up in the mountains. Best road in the state, and I know that is quite the statement considering we are talking about Colorado, is Highway 92 between the Black Canyon (just west of Gunnison) to Paonia. If you haven't already had the pleasure, you should put this on the must do list! Your only decision is bike or car. I would vote bike, but I don't have a WRX either.
And I definitely agree with Durant, your model is really looking good, but is totally incomplete without a couple of hand and ah, well, you know, stuff, prints on the hood!
Hope all is well, brother man.

Thanks Chuck,
That's good news. Could you also confirm that after doing this trick your machine "remembers" this with further files or not?
Dang, Gaieus, you're fast. I erased my post as after I posted I realized that there were 3 pages I hadn't read yet and people were talking about changing extensions and I didn't want to be redundant.
The 'trick' was: right click on .php file. choose 'get info'. erase ;.php and type in .skp. when you hit return, there will be a pop up window asking if you want to change the extension. agree to this and the file will update to a .skp and the icon will change to the familiar Sketchup picture.
This has to be done for every file that comes in incorrectly. There is no 'remembering'

RE: Go-to-school
Hi Jim,
Cheetah is a great piece of software! I use it primarily for renderings, but the modeling side is also very powerful. I, too, knew nothing about modeling (other than in Sketchup) when I got Cheetah and it has been a really exciting learning curve.
Rendering, for me, has been all about experimenting different things. It can be frustrating at times and I am still only happy with about 25% of my final renderings, but I am starting to get a good grasp of settings that seem to work.
The Cheetah forums are really good! There are a bunch of really experienced guys there who are very helpful. They are located here: http://www.cheetah3d.de/forum/
Welcome to the club here! I think you will really enjoy your time here. Talk about helpful and friendly!
