i am having a hard time just getting it to work period. when i am in sketchup, and go to export the model in kerky, it wont create an XML file, just some random file kerky cant deal with. BUT when i have no model in the program and just add things like lights and sun from kerky, it works fine and opens up kerkythea. except that does me no good because there is no model to render.

is there any other free rendering programs out there?

SU2KT has problems with non ascii characters. So if you pathname, filenames, texture names, models or so have any special characters... change them. Use latest SU2KT http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8440

πŸ‘ Nice tool. Wonder if hdr or exr would be possible as file options.

On the Twilight site I saw it's possible to export a scene as xml. Does this mean I can assign materials in Sketchup and then render in Kerky? Are the materialsettings put in with Twilight stored when exported to xml?

      Greetz from the Netherlands

      yes, with registered version.

    • RE: KERKYTHEA problem

Most likelly your dielectric material has no volume, dielectic needs a water tight volume. I would use a thing glass material in this case, it's specially made for windows and so, objects that are thin and often modelled without wolume.
Also if you use Sun and dielectric, then best render method is preset 20. BIT/MLT as pure MLT do not create coustics from Sun or spot/point lights.

      @unknownuser said:

so what's irender doing so differently than the other renderers? or does it export a bunch of textures prior to rendering?

My quess is that it does export predistorted textures (like kmz export). So for Thomas' scene you will get two different textures when rendered. Sorry, have no irender, so cannot test. Wonder if it saves temp textures on disk before rendering...

The disco ball could be a great challenge for "model this" too. Remember, a classic disco ball has hundreds or thousands of facets, nearly all of approximately the same shape and size.

Scattering for a proper atmosphere is a must!

Adam, I like the composition of Iphone_LED2.jpg. Good looking materials, except there is something odd going with the table lamp; ceramic base has some material (or surface normal) problem with the grazing angle.

Exporter should handle that situation too. Just make sure that there are no visible back-faces and front face has a texture. Then e back-face with texture will be ignored.

Excessive reflection in stairs indicates that you have applied texture to back-side. If you look stairs there is actually texture, it's just really faint.

Okay, so I need to take the textures off the back side?

Sertainly! Before you apply any texture to model, make sure that there are no blue faces (back-face) visible. Textures should be applied only to front face (white).

    • RE: Why You Should NOT Vaccinate Your Children

There is a huge medicalization of the human conditions going on. No wonder why some have reacted to that, denying medicals and vaccination. Developed countries would most likely look rather different, if there had not been antibiotics and vaccination. Just imagine if smallpox (Variola major) would rampage now all over the world like H1N1, it has a mortality rate of 30–35% (comparing to 0.x% of H1N1). Thanks to vaccination, you don't need to fear that.
Is H1N1 dangerous enough for a large scale vaccination that is happening now - I don't think so. Is vaccination needed for people in a risk group - more likely. Do vaccination have side effects - certainly. Finding a balance between two different risk is not a easy job.

There are naturally plenty of different packages, but encapsulation is always solid.
