I think a tut on setting up a studio would be great. This took quite a bit of trial and error but I am quite pleased.

Not to confuse things but I have built things from CAD generated plans. Sometimes they forget to build in a little wiggle room / tolerances to make things fit in real life.
For instance if you were to cut these shapes exactly they probably wouldn't fit together. You might need to build in the gaps (or cut on the other side of the lines).
Good luck with your project.
I thought I would give it a try, I made a few leaves from pics in my backyard.
I once swallowed a penny, I can't remember it coming out the other end either.
When I was four I thought little people lived inside of radios and played the music.
I was sick as a dog this week with a fall cold. Stuck in bed I started drawing these little robots inspired by a few I saw on the WIRED magazine website.
Two days of fever, cold medicine & stuff, I ended up making this little scene of the robots fighting off the virus in my head. They won, my cold is gone.
I am not sure if this is the answer but have you tried grouping the objects before you push them together? It keeps them from sticking as is the default in SU.
Very intriguing. How did you set up the lenses? How did you focus them? Was it based on focal length?

Sorry Patrick for editing your post/topic - but as Google has spilled out the beans[/url:344jjraf] already, I think this topic deserves to be turned into a global announcement.
And yeah, SU 7.1 (and especially LO 2.1) seem to be cool.
You can do this two ways I believe. You could upload to the 3D warehouse and then set it to private. The only people who can access it is collaborators you invite.
Alternatively, you could combine all the models into a master model then export a KMZ file that the students could share.
Sounds like a good project for little Sketch Uppers.
Take a look at this one, I wrote it awhile back. Formatting is not pretty but the content should get you going.

It's rendered in nXt. The people are cut out from the painting and made into face me components.
If anyone want's to experiment I found a decent model in the warehouse after I got mine done-- just look for Hopper. Its shaped different (triangle shaped building?) but the colors are good.
I was thinking about drawing a diner and saw a post in another thread about Hopper.
I am still working on updating the textures, getting the light between the inside and outside is turning out to be tricky. Hard to get enough light on the building without getting too much flash on the glass.
I'll keep poking away, kind of fun.
What do you think of when you hear/read the word:
The attributes and elements of a 2D or 3D object that define its aesthetic or functional qualities. (including character, emotion, meaning, purpose etc.)
A person who is in charge of developing the unique qualities above.
A person who designs public or private buildings or spaces.
I didn't look yet but am wondering what others say.
Just making some buffer space.
Some more...
I don't know enough about the inner workings of computers to confirm this but I thought it might be of interest.
"The bad news that I have for you today is that Google SketchUp is unfortunately vulnerable to dangerous attacks. It is currently at risk due to the factor that the application fails to correctly do boundary checks, with regard to the input supplied by the user. The particular vulnerability that Google SketchUp suffers from is a buffer overflow vulnerability."

Anybody know more about this?
Should we care or is this just speculation?
