I just powered up the USB external drive and I DID format it in NTFS. That should make things a little easier for you now, Eric!

RE: External HD Storage
I formatted a generic TB drive that I put in an external USB case through my Linksys (E3000) and had nothing but problems - it wouldn't connect, it would say it was full (of WHAT?), etc. I finally plugged the drive into my computer directly and reformatted it. Plugged it into the Linksys, brought up the Linksys configuration page and shared the drive - read it correctly (size, etc.), can read and write to it, etc. I think I did reformat it in NFTS - but don't recall (and I'm not at home to check it right now).

RE: SketchUp Component Library for Eaves Guttering
Very nice, Richard - thanks!

RE: Website help.
I started out with Weebly.com (free website, nice tools and templates if you don't know what to do.
After a year, I decided I wanted something more robust and bought WebPlus (http://www.serif.com) to start creating my own. Couldn't easily import the Weebly-created site into WebPlus (Weebly's stuff seems to be proprietary), so had to create it entirely in WebPlus. Not entirely painless, but WebPlus has a LOT of templates to use and their forums are just as helpful and friendly as SketchUcation's are.
I also went looking for a new host and decided on HostMonster.com. They've been very helpful, cost is one of the least around, and have had NO issues with them at all. You can see my final product at http://www.hendryarch.com.
Hope this helps, Pete - and good luck!

RE: Auntie Em Auntie Em!
My family and I send our best wishes and prayers to all those who have been - and currently are being - affected by these natural disasters. Been through a couple of earthquakes - but they don't seem to compare at all to what we're seeing now.
Stay safe, my friends!

RE: Illustrators are not artists.
I'm not sure if this helps you at all, Eric - but a very wise architect once told me that the REAL designer is the one that knows how to make the design WORK.
In other words, ANYONE can draw a pretty picture, but the one that knows HOW to make the pretty picture turn into reality is the true "artist/designer".

RE: What kinda calculator do you use??
Calculated Industries. I have the Construction Master Pro Trig Plus III, the Windows desktop version, and they now make it for the iPhone and Android smart phones!
They are not the cheapest, but they are the best!

RE: Movie Reviews
Saw 'Limitless' last weekend - very well done with a really nice twist at the end.
Haven't seen any of the others.

RE: Project Messiah for 10 $ !
I bought two Pro versions to help all of us along - and just found out that they are still accepting the reduced pricing now even though they've hit their magical number. Buy one for a friend, maybe?

RE: Project Messiah for 10 $ !
Looks to be at over 75% now - I did my part with a couple of licenses!

RE: Malaguena
Awesome video, Eric! As an old trumpeter this brought back a lot of memories of my days back in HS (though we never attempted this one!).

RE: Bricscad or Progecad
@dedmin said:
How do You dimension a circle in the paper space - seems impossible?
BricsCAD just released an update that fixes this (I just tried it and it works as it should).

RE: Bricscad or Progecad
I am a BricsCad user but have not used ProgeCad. I've been very pleased with BricsCad and their development - they seem to stay on top of current compatibility with Acad as well as new features requested by the users.

RE: Assisted Suicide/Voluntary Euthanasia
My mom passed away almost two years ago from stage 4 liver cancer. She was under hospice care for about three weeks before she passed - and I have to say, hospice workers have GOT to be the most compassionate, under-acknowledged examples of what we should ALL aspire to be! These caregivers are the most understanding, loving people on earth!
I can't say which way I'd go, but I think hospice gives a very dignified and loving alternative to suicide (assisted or un-assisted) without prolonged extreme measures to postpone the inevitable.
I agree that this is a sensitive subject, but I appreciate Mike presenting it in such a positive (and non-judgmental) light.

RE: Photoshop Software
There's also Serif's PhotoPlus X4 (http://www.serif.com). All of Serif's main programs (PhotoPlus, DrawPlus, PagePlus, etc.) all have free, downloadable "lite" versions that you can try out as well.

RE: Computer Backup procedures.....
I'm with Todd - I've bought (and used) NTI Backup and Nero BackItUp, as well as Cobian, and Cobian is the only one that does exactly what I need. No fuss, no muss, no wondering if it's working or if it did the backup. I haven't had the need to restore (yet), but so far what I've set up for full monthly, weekly incremental and daily incremental works as advertised.
I do a full backup to my website server monthly, with the weekly and daily's going to my on-site 1.5TB drives.
I also agree with toxicvoxel - I don't trust off-site servers. Once they go sneakers-up you're just SOL.

RE: IPhone 4 or HTC Desire?
I use Google Calendar. It's not quite as robust as I'd like, but it syncs with my Droid and that's where I'm enjoying it the most.
