      This is just a guess, but I am pretty sure Aidan has a new Sketchup book coming out in the next couple of months, and if history repeats than SU7 comes out within a week of its launch. 😍

      Cool, so - My guess Sketchup 7 comes in week 3 of November? Does September Count? Please Let me know, thanks.

      I'm not being critical, I'm only sharing the Gospel Truth. Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship with Jesus.

      Like ex-smokers and ex-fatty's religious nuts just HAVE to tell everyone how fantastic their life is now and use the smallest excuse to try and convert anybody within earshot.

      Like we don't already know we should quit and eat more healthy, yes you simpleton we all know the bible exists, we have heard the Jesus myths, yes your life is just so great after you quit/lost weight/converted .... blah blah blah..... now STFU!!!

      Oh, Well - I did my part in trying to share the Gospel of free salvation, but men do have freewill - but in the end, there's consequences.. For now on, I'll post gospel tracts in 3D on the 3D warehouse. To further spread the Gospel truth that Jesus is real. ~John 3:16. Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship with God through Jesus. It's your choice..

      Actually I think it makes perfect sense to have a free version. Because it is so easy to use, it is really popular with students, and anyone can have access to the same modelling tools as the professionals. It's also the easiest way of getting content into Google Earth, which could be the most comprehensive and accessible marketing tool the world has ever seen.

      It doesn't seem logical to stop the free version.

      Hopefully, they won't stop the free version.. I'll only use sketchup if it remains free "the free version"..

      Great, fantastic. Now ... back to SketchUp? If you leave God out of this, I'll go easy on the Nazi references. πŸ˜„ Seriously, Bigstick has a point.

      Well - The part where someone said "O.K. shall we simply declare SketchUp as our God within the realms of "SketchUp Discussions" (and move all topics relating to other divine entities to the "corner bar")" Why was God mensioned in that sentence?

      Oh no - please guys, let's NOT have religious arguments here. The original comments were meant to be light hearted and were from (AFAIK) atheists. We are all here to chat about SketchUp and have a laugh.

      Yes we digress from time to time, but in my experience, debates about god lead nowhere. Sadly it seems to me that most Christians who post about religion on forums don't tend to have much of a sense of humour and take things far too seriously. This isn't intended to be a criticism, most that I have met are lovely people, but utterly incapable of having a light-hearted discussion about religion, so I think it's better if we just don't go there.

      and if he doesn't because it is not in his divine plan... WHY IS SU7 NOT IN HIS DIVINE PLAN!

      Wow, Looks like I may have to resort to a different 3D Modeling program if theres no major upgrade like that for Sketchup 7. I'm hoping they could fix it to where High Poly count support would be added - and that more new stuff can be added..

      @unknownuser said:

      @solo said:

      So in my opinion which to the Google clan is worth squat, if higher poly support is not offered and offered soon, SU will be relegated to 3D toy most other modeling app users believe it to already be.

      Hear, hear. I'd even be quite prepared to pay more for an SU Pro that isn't brought to its knees by "large" files that are easily opened, navigated etc in other apps. I am quite confident, though - why wouldn't Google want SU to become a better app?

      That said, if 7 does not offer hp support, well ... Then I'd be left with two choices: either continue to primarely use a growingly redundant app, or learn -the horror!- a much more complicated one (and I've been looking into several possibilities already). I'm sure I won't be the only one.

      I'm also sure Google is quite aware of this. They know that if they don't raise the bar, they'll estrange a part of their user base. Hence, if 7 isn't a leap forward, we know that Google has other interests on its mind than ours.

      Cool, I look forward for Sketchup 7. I may design a 2,500 acre maze with it when it comes out. 😎

      @bruell said:

      They will probably, in good old Google style, come out with it, without announcing it before.

      BUT THEY BETTER NOT RELEASE IT WITHOUT 64 BIT AND MULTI PROCESSOR SUPPORT! and who knows, Direct X optional might as well be beneficial.

    • More Speed in Shadow Rendering.

      Another issue I like for it to be fixed is the speed.. When shadows is enabled or on, The rendering is a lot slower then when shadows are off. My wish list for Sketchup 7 "free" is that the rendering on the shadows can be fast instead of slow. Also when hidden geometry is shown or enabled, the rendering slows down dramatically. I like that to be fixed also.

      Interesting.

      I've found that you don't even have to rename it. Since GIF and PNG file formats got different structures I got an idea;
      When you have the file dialogue window open, type in * in the filename textbox and hit the Enter key. Then all files will be listed and you can select and open your gif files.

      So it appears that GIF support already exists, it's just the file dialogue that lacks the listing for the file format.

      How do I do it? I tried but see no animation..
      Am I doing it right? * filename.gif

      It only support static GIF images. No Animation. So it's actually a partial support of the GIF format.

      Almost an Acre in size.

      @unknownuser said:

      @mpowell1234567890 said:

      Both. It happens with a large model. "For example, I made a large maze type shape using a "cubic benzier" or "the freehand" tool. then I clicked on the shape to select it. Then I used the joint push pull to push pull it. 1st click I chosen the height, but when I click it the 2nd time - after a minute, it freezes up.

      So, Can you confirm this works fine with small model?

      Then, how large is the 'large model'?
      Although there are surely limits to how many faces and segments you can handle (due to limits in Ruby memory allocation), JPP usually takes very long when there are many elements. Because Ruby is not multi-threaded within Sketchup, it may 'freeze' Sketchup and even the progress bar, while computing. This may take minutes or longer, but may well end up at some point in time. If you can, try this before doing something else than computing to see if it finally finishes.
