RE: 3 wishes for SU7
I have some wishes for Sketchu 7 free version:
- Import gif animated image files "Moving pictures".
- Clipping/sliceing bug of very large models "over 6000' diameter" to be fixed.
- The ability to create 3-D games "Game developers toolbox".
- The ability to delete hidden geometry yet keeping the surface of the model.
- Wall tool "for building houses"
- The ability to compute volume of a model "Similer to finding the area of it"
- Import/export more 3-d files from different 3d designing applications.

Bruell,
This is how it goes (generally speaking, not particularly about SU 7).
- The GSU Team develops the new product - adds feature that are "mature" enough to launch, sorts out bugs that are there etc.
- Whenthey think it is ready for beta testing, the tests start but no-one (even the GSU Team) knows how long they are going to go on because it all depends on the succes/speed of sorting out the issues.
- Even whenthe developers (GSU Team) already has some clue when the launch is due, they won't tell anyone.
So there are no hints around I'm afraid.
Idraft,
I will edit the topic title so no-one has to read through it with a vain hope.
Wow! wondering if Google has broken their promise of Sketchup 7?... I was hoping and looking forward in Sketchup 7... Hopefully, I don't have to cancel my google account as a result of that..

This is just a guess, but I am pretty sure Aidan has a new Sketchup book coming out in the next couple of months, and if history repeats than SU7 comes out within a week of its launch.

Cool, so - My guess Sketchup 7 comes in week 3 of November? Does September Count? Please Let me know, thanks.

I'm not being critical, I'm only sharing the Gospel Truth. Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship with Jesus.
Like ex-smokers and ex-fatty's religious nuts just HAVE to tell everyone how fantastic their life is now and use the smallest excuse to try and convert anybody within earshot.
Like we don't already know we should quit and eat more healthy, yes you simpleton we all know the bible exists, we have heard the Jesus myths, yes your life is just so great after you quit/lost weight/converted .... blah blah blah..... now STFU!!!
Oh, Well - I did my part in trying to share the Gospel of free salvation, but men do have freewill - but in the end, there's consequences.. For now on, I'll post gospel tracts in 3D on the 3D warehouse. To further spread the Gospel truth that Jesus is real. ~John 3:16. Christianity is not a religion, it's a relationship with God through Jesus. It's your choice..

Cool, if couple means 2, then Sketchup 7 should arrive in 3 months?

Actually I think it makes perfect sense to have a free version. Because it is so easy to use, it is really popular with students, and anyone can have access to the same modelling tools as the professionals. It's also the easiest way of getting content into Google Earth, which could be the most comprehensive and accessible marketing tool the world has ever seen.
It doesn't seem logical to stop the free version.
Hopefully, they won't stop the free version.. I'll only use sketchup if it remains free "the free version"..

Great, fantastic. Now ... back to SketchUp? If you leave God out of this, I'll go easy on the Nazi references.
Seriously, Bigstick has a point.Well - The part where someone said "O.K. shall we simply declare SketchUp as our God within the realms of "SketchUp Discussions" (and move all topics relating to other divine entities to the "corner bar")" Why was God mensioned in that sentence?

Jesus saves.. God is real.. We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
Oh no - please guys, let's NOT have religious arguments here. The original comments were meant to be light hearted and were from (AFAIK) atheists. We are all here to chat about SketchUp and have a laugh.
Yes we digress from time to time, but in my experience, debates about god lead nowhere. Sadly it seems to me that most Christians who post about religion on forums don't tend to have much of a sense of humour and take things far too seriously. This isn't intended to be a criticism, most that I have met are lovely people, but utterly incapable of having a light-hearted discussion about religion, so I think it's better if we just don't go there.

I would never have thought about worshipping Joe Pesci

now if I choose someone to be my God impersonation it will be someone like Ian McKellen (with a beard - beard=old and wise)but George Carlin has to be right. if there is a God, why does he not listen to millions of prayers asking for SketchUp7?
and if he doesn't because it is not in his divine plan... WHY IS SU7 NOT IN HIS DIVINE PLAN!Jesus saves.. God is real.. We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. Encouraging fact: Someone is filling a complete book on SU 7 already (= the next 'SU for dummies').
Must be something cool in there that a book can be written about it?Cool. That means Sketchup 7 is coming sooner.

RE: There are NO dates for SU 7.
Wow, Looks like I may have to resort to a different 3D Modeling program if theres no major upgrade like that for Sketchup 7. I'm hoping they could fix it to where High Poly count support would be added - and that more new stuff can be added..
@unknownuser said:
@solo said:
So in my opinion which to the Google clan is worth squat, if higher poly support is not offered and offered soon, SU will be relegated to 3D toy most other modeling app users believe it to already be.
Hear, hear. I'd even be quite prepared to pay more for an SU Pro that isn't brought to its knees by "large" files that are easily opened, navigated etc in other apps. I am quite confident, though - why wouldn't Google want SU to become a better app?
That said, if 7 does not offer hp support, well ... Then I'd be left with two choices: either continue to primarely use a growingly redundant app, or learn -the horror!- a much more complicated one (and I've been looking into several possibilities already). I'm sure I won't be the only one.
I'm also sure Google is quite aware of this. They know that if they don't raise the bar, they'll estrange a part of their user base. Hence, if 7 isn't a leap forward, we know that Google has other interests on its mind than ours.

Same here, I'm waiting for Sketchup 7 also..

RE: There are NO dates for SU 7.
Cool, I look forward for Sketchup 7. I may design a 2,500 acre maze with it when it comes out.

@bruell said:
They will probably, in good old Google style, come out with it, without announcing it before.
BUT THEY BETTER NOT RELEASE IT WITHOUT 64 BIT AND MULTI PROCESSOR SUPPORT! and who knows, Direct X optional might as well be beneficial.
-
RE: There are NO dates for SU 7.
Cool, when Sketchup comes I plan to create a 2,500 acre maze "4 Square Miles". Hopefully they fixed the clipping bug.
