About four months ago I had a motherboard melt down on me. Since the whole system was getting a bit long in the tooth, I built a totally new system and reinstalled XP from the discs I had from the old system. I didn't have any trouble in any way. I had been upgrading the old system right along and had replaced everything but the motherboard at least once, I guess I finally upgraded it to death. The service packs and auto-updates came right from Big Bill the Bazillionaire. rollin'

Hello Mike and all, Thank you for refering to my site and, of course, your positive words about my models. I hope there are some usefull models for all of you allthough they where not really ment to be imported into other models. The file size and nr of edges is to high in a couple of models to do that. Most of the models where not made with the idea of being importable. All of these models where ment to learn how to use the Sketchup program for me. What you see on my site is actually the process of learning the program. That's why not all models have the same quality and why there are so many different subjects for the models. I've done a quick search and located some tree-house links. My favourite is this, http://tropical-treehouse.com/pics.html There is a great story behind the tree-house AND would you believe there is a SketchUp connection. The tree-house, 'The Sunset Hooch' (great name !) was designed using SU and there is a model of the 10' x 10' version on 3D Warehouse. I show a picture of Bamboojo's (another great name) model in my composite. This type of design is obviously well suited / tested for its intended environment and it appears to have a low impact on the forrest, I hope There is just enough room for a few people to eat, sleep and feel secure. I know, I know we are only talking about virtual tree-houses but I feel we should be looking at designs that would if, ever constructed, not harm the rain forrest. I'm a 1.5 to 2 pack a day smoker. I have tried several methods to quit. Cold Turkey, Cutting Down, Nicotine Patch, Nicotine Lozenge, Welbutrin, Bantrol, and probable others I can't think of right now. The patch was the closest I've come to success and I'll likely start using it again. The only problem is, it gave me very weird dreams. The kind where you wake up really freaked out. I had to stop using them because the dreams were making me exhausted during the day. I could hardly stay awake to work. Next time, I think I'll take it off a couple of hours before bed. Maybe that way I can sleep and I'll just have to use willpower not to light up in the morning. nomi

Steven it would be great to have Jim drop in but I guess he is off fishing or something. I dont think Jim's influence in setting the tone of the original forum can be over-estimated. Apart from being very helpful and knowledgeable his patience and civility was great, particularly with new chums.

I like to leave the MacBook Pro on permanently. I understand that its the best way to run Macs as downloads and maintenance can be carried out over night, I think! Its also a fact that laptops tend to heat up a bit when under pressure, more so than desktops. I thought one way to keep things cool would be to have some control over the fan. I located a utility called Fan Control, it does what it says. Okay if not on mains the battery life is effected but most of my time spent on the laptop when plugged in, so no problem. Also it can be adjusted in on the move.
