    • Dynamic Component Rotate & Scale?

      So i did some searching and I don' think I saw anything that relates to this yet. I am building a dynamic component door to use for modeling and for CDs. I have a 3D version completely scale-able and opens/closes upon a click (no problems there). Along with the 3D version, I also have a 2D version to use in "plan mode" to properly represent the door in 2D once in layout. I also have a separate click action to change the angle of the 2D door (from 90 to 45 to 33). Though graphics standards for CDs typically shows doors open 90 deg with an arch show travel of door to close, there are times I need to show a different angle of "openness", for whatever reason.

      My question is this: When I adjust the rotation angle of the door (which is easy enough to do), is there a way to "scale" the arch swing along with it? Meaning, if the door is open 90 deg, then then arch is a quarter of a circle, when adjusted to 45 deg the arch swing would then be half that, etc.

      Right now, I have the actions setup to be an animated rotation and trying to find a way to adjust the size of the arch swing with the animation. My back up plan is to simply create a version of the door at 90, 45, 33, 0 and create a drop down menu to toggle between the varying degrees. With that said, I would much prefer the animated method, hence my post.

      Thank you to all who view this, any thoughts would be appreciated!

      You don't even need 2 viewports, I use them always though and I'm used to setting things up on sectioncutface viewport. So in LO you can:

      • Insert a perspective viewport;
      • Draw a line on the section through two points wich you know the dimension;
      • Scale it so it fits the desired dimension;
      • Write down the resulting scale factor;
      • Scale your viewport to the same scale factor;
      • Lock viewport scale;
      • Stretch it's boundaries to focus or have a wider view of the model.

      Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. In actuality, you are doing the exact same thing that the plugin you referred me to does, just a different path to get there.

      Totally makes sense, thanks again!

      Eneroth has a plugin for just that.

      What I do is that I have 2 scenes. One with the perspective and a copy where I see only a section cut face group.

      I place the section cut group viewport at the correct scale in layout, wich is easy as it's a 2D model, then you you copy that viewport and replace the scene in the model for the scene of the perspective.

      This way I get double viewports and can manipulate the section face scene independently of the perspective scene (wich is exactly what I do on ortho sections too).

      The Eneroth plugin worked great, but i am curious about your 2-viewport method. Can you elaborate a little more on this process? Or potentially have files to share showing the scenes in SU and viewports in LO?

      Thanks for the heads up! I should have known there was a plug-in by Eneroth, she has a plug-in for everything!

      Was a little awkward to use at first, but once i got the gist of it, worked perfect. Was able to use scaled dimensions in LO and they read the exact heights they were suppose to!

    • Scale 2-Point Persepctive?

      Anyone have any thoughts or tips in bringing in a two-point perspective section cut scene from SU into LO, and have layout make it read at correct scale?

      I know that being in perspective mode makes scaling not really work, but in theory, this could/should be done.

      Meaning, the section cut itself, ignoring anything beyond, is technically in parallel projection, and really its a flat 2D cut and could/should be scale-able. But then the "beyond" portions are simply projected off of the cut, and obviously would not be to scale.

      Any help or thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!

      I've attached a quick image from SU of what i would like to show, just need to have LO produce the section cut to scale.

    • RE: Controlling Layers Across Multiple Pages

      Thanks for the response. Funny enough, your suggestion about creating templates is what I'm in the process of doing. I made all my standard pages before layers, so I think I'm doing this more in reverse than need be. Thanks for the input!

    • Controlling Layers Across Multiple Pages

      Hello everyone, been a long time read and user of SU, and recently dove into LO. Like many, I've been impressed with a lot of what LO can do, and frustrated with the things it can't, though some of it is learning curve.

      Anyway, one item i find continually frustrating me is layer control across multiple pages. I am not sure if this is possible, but if i have a large number of sheets in my construction drawing set, and I add in a new layer needed for one sheet, that layer is on for every sheet. Though this really is not a huge issue as no information comes across pages, but does become an issue if i need to make that new layer a shared layer across say 4 of my 22 page set. Which mean I need to go to the other 18 pages to turn it off.

      Is there a way to select multiple pages and adjust layer visibility in batch format?

      Thanks for any help!
