I've thought a bit late of this but here are some car tutorials that some other people have made.

RE: Marian's W.I.P.s
Double thanks , the quality is down to good settings and hdri images.
I still need to learn how to make a realistical scene though.

RE: Marian's W.I.P.s
With more than a little help from Stefanq i made these renders of my peugeot car, in fact the first 2 are his.

RE: Marian's W.I.P.s
I guess realism is a good thing...yeah i heard a lot of this firefly but haven't seen it yet. if it's scifi then it's cool
That firefly reminds me of another sseries i saw on tv a while back which was similar, it was about a crew of bounty hunters in the sol system using an old cruise ship which hid a few important secrets, like the secret of hyperspace flight and aliens, it was really cool but can't remember how it was called, anyone any ideas?Don't bother i've found it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starhunter
i've mostly seen season 1 too bad it only has 2 seasons. -
RE: Marian's W.I.P.s
Yeah i've seen it, i don't know what to think of it.....i saw all other trek series except enterprise and i wouldn't like it if it would change radically stuff and history just to make money. But from the trailer at least the ship is more or less the same and seems too be backed by the original actors so i guess it will be a cool film and more ships to be inspired from.

i'll se if i'll use textures i'm not that good with them, anyway a small update.

RE: Star Trek U.S.S. Thrace
Unfortunately i haven't attempted to animate or make some proper renders. And i don't think i'll be able for a while as i'm on my older pc which is not very render/animation friendly and besides that i don't have any expertise in animation or enough patience for it .

RE: The Alcove: a WIPtacular thread
I think i said this before on scifi-meshes..but very nice and detailed work Borgman.
Both the shuttle and the ship look like plausible Trek ships....i wouldn't be suprised if you get a call from Paramount to work on the next ST series .
Happy trekking. -
RE: A Welcome Message to New SketchUcation Members
Welcome Borgman....you should make a thread for your Hayden class ship in the Gallery here too, it's a perfect example of sketchup mastery.

RE: Star Trek U.S.S. Thrace
Thanks Igor and Durant. But Durant, what are you talking about!?

RE: Star Trek U.S.S. Thrace
Thanks Coen and James for the kind words.
I started the ship by making the saucer section, which was inspired by the galaxy class ships(Picard's first Enterprise ). I didn't use the cut in half method so the ship is not perfectly symetrical, the saucer is but the windows are random . After the saucer i just came up with stuff as I went along...and for what details should be added i was guided by people on scifi-meshes.com
Some impotant plugins for making trek ships are weld.rb and copyalongpath.rb so you can add the windows all the way round, you need some patience especially beacause of copyalongpath.rb's shortcomings.
Here you can see the evolution of the ship:

and here is 3d model: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=7dc5c9b8175c43febf20f8774ba11ff5
And some new blueprints, which are already absolete as i changed the bay area and added windows to engineering.
