    • RE: How to change the label text colour permanently

There was a similar bug in the dimension tool where changing the text color didn't affect the text color of the dimension.

      Try this workflow:
      Create a label.
      Select the label.
Make style changes to the label until it's what you like.
      Activate the label tool.
Press the "s" key to activate the "style sampler" mode.
Click on the label that you prepared to sample that style into the label tool.

At this point, the label tool should be creating labels with the text color you wanted.

    • RE: Line tool extension from end of snap

Does the line have the "starting/ending arrowhead" style set to the "overrun" arrowhead? Change the arrowhead settings on that line or set the arrowhead size to 0 pts.

    • RE: Error 107 - Can't Save!

Error 107 indicates that there's an entity in your document that references an external file that is now missing. This could hypothetically happen if you inserted a file, then immediately renamed/moved/deleted that file, then saved the LayOut file - but I can't seem to duplicate the issue that way myself. Are you doing any workflows that involve inserting and then renaming/moving/deleting the original file?

    • RE: Tables in LO 2017

Among other minutia, looks like the library we're using to import .XLS files doesn't properly handle some aspects of locked cells. Thanks for your help identifying the issue, and keep an eye out for maintenance releases.

    • RE: LO 2017 DAT FILE

      copy shortcuts.xml from this location:
      C:\Users\mdurant\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp 2016\LayOut\shortcuts.xml
      to this location:
      C:\Users\mdurant\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp 2017\LayOut\shortcuts.xml

Do NOT copy the .plo files, that will crash LayOut.

Yes, I would appreciate any and all files that are causing issues.

    • RE: Tables in LO 2017

Any chance you could share that excel file with the LayOut team for debugging purposes? There may be something specific about your file that's breaking our importer, and we'd love to check it out.

      Thanks,
      Marc

    • RE: Reconstitute Layout file from Temp? Help!

      Hey Jason-

I just downloaded your .zip archive and successfully recreated a LayOut file from it. I didn't need to delete any pages, and I was able to open and view all of the pages in the recreated document.

You are correct that a LayOut file is just a .zip archive of all of the .xml files.

I will PM you a link to my fixed version of the file on DropBox.

    • RE: Rounded rectangles

While you're creating the rectangle, or immediately after creating it, use the arrow keys - up & down - to change the curvature.

There's no way to make rounded-corner polygons other than drawing them by hand as Richard suggests.

    • RE: Layout Error 101

      Hi Stan-

Thanks for mentioning this issue - error 101 occurs when there's a LayOut group with only one entity in it. It's an internal sort of error that we don't really ever want to display to someone using LayOut. I will file a bug in our tracking system to investigate this issue.

If you find a way to consistently cause this error, please share the SketchUp model and your exact work steps with us so we can make sure that your particular case is handled by our fix.

      Thanks,
      Marc

    • RE: DOCUMENT UPDATE

The "Update Document" command is supposed to render all of the models in the document. If I turn off auto-render, make some style changes, and then press "update document", LayOut appears to re-render all of the viewports. What behavior are you seeing?

      Thanks,
      Marc

    • RE: Layout 2016 issues in Mac OS Yosemite

I don't think I've heard anything about this yet - how did you report the issue? If it's on forums.sketchup.com, can you share a link and I'll take a look.

Forgive me if I've already talked to you on another forum about this, it's been a busy month!

      Thanks,

    • RE: Copy retains Layers

      Hi all-

For LayOut 2016, we added a few features mentioned in this thread:

      1. Copy/paste now preserves the layer assignments of the selected entities. There's also a new "Paste to current layer" command which is approximates the older behavior. Both of these commands are accessible with shortcuts.

      2. Groups can now contain objects on multiple layers

      3. A new context menu that provides a command to "Move to layer...", which allows you to move the selection to the current layer or any other layer in the document.

      Cheers,
      Marc

Hi Marc! I know you know of the list I speak...

Oh yes, I know the list. We've made progress on a few items, but sadly not many.

Is there any chance you can come to our next 3d basecamp event? I think we should be having one sometime next spring (this is not an official announcement). The LayOut team loves to see how people use the product and where the pain points are. We've talked about having a booth where people can come to share their feedback.

In response to some earlier questions in this thread, LayOut does have its own dedicated team, and it's by far the best team I've worked with in 14 years in the software industry. Even so, I'm always astounded at how long it takes to get anything implemented/fixed/etc in the product. For instance I've spent nearly three months this year just updating our code to keep pace with SDK changes on OS X, which is frustrating when I'd rather be working on features & improvements.
