We definitely have this one on our list of "often requested" improvements!

RE: Lines not hidden
Hi!
We recently fixed a bug that may be responsible for what you're seeing. If you can share the file with me, I will test it against our latest version of LayOut and make sure that it's fixed.
thanks,

RE: Pattern fill and scrapbook missing
Hi-
Sounds like the LayOut folder preferences aren't set correctly.
Warning! The following procedure will cause LayOut to forget your custom scrapbook location - after doing this, you'll need to add the custom scrapbook folder again.
The easiest way to check these paths is to run LayOut, go into the LayOut->Preferences menu, and choose the "Folders" page. Press the "Reset to defaults" button for each section (Templates, Scrapbook, and Pattern Fills) to make sure that the paths are set correctly. After resetting to defaults, you'll need to add your custom scrapbook folder again.
If this doesn't fix your problem you may need to reinstall.

RE: Dashed Lines Too Large in Print
We've had this bug in our tracking system for some time... we've tried some things to fix it but without success (so far). Please do let us know if you find that the actual print appears with the fat lines as well.
thanks,

RE: L.O. Pattern Fills
Hi Trevor-
You will find that images of that size will take a sizeable chunk of memory. You may be better off trying to create them in photoshop or another specific image editor so that you can make an image smaller than 40mm x 40mm. The goal is to get the smallest possible image (pixel size) that gives you the full pattern at the scale and resolution you need.
I would expect that the memory usage would be flat once your pattern fills have all been loaded. If you switch back and forth between two pages, does your memory usage continue to grow?
I may be able to give you more specific guidance if you could share either the full LayOut file or perhaps some of your pattern fill images.
thanks,
Marc -
RE: L.O. Pattern Fills
Are you using custom pattern fill images? If so, can you tell me the resolution of those images? The built-in pattern fill images are quite small and shouldn't cause a noticeable memory cost.

RE: SU 2013 Layout automatic page count
Oh yes, we've got most of that wishlist in our system. Of course, it'll take some time to get everything done

RE: LO 2013 dimensioningstyle bug, wrong unit
Good catch! I'll get that fixed. Must be a mismatch in our translation.

Yes, that's a feature that's on a lot of wish lists! Stay tuned...

RE: Your Ideas for SketchUp 2014
Hi Rich-
Thanks for posting this link.
We do have a database of existing issues and feature requests, and we're already working on some of these items for 2014. John's thread is your opportunity to bring up new requests, and to help us set priorities on existing items.
I wanted to clear up a misconception that I've seen a few times: LayOut issues do not directly compete with SketchUp issues for resources. LayOut has its own dedicated team! So, don't hesitate to submit LayOut requests.
thanks,
Marc -
RE: Custom text feature removed in LO 2013?
Hi Mike-
The Font window is available under "Window -> Show Fonts" in the menu bar. I always look for this command in the "Text" menu instead, which is wrong. Where were you looking for it? If we get enough complaints I might be able to move the command.
thanks,

RE: WWDC?
Hi Frederik-
Feel free to ask questions here or in the official forum in Google Groups. I'm just a developer, so I can help the most with specific problems or bugs, but I'll try to make sure that comments are brought to the right people. For what it's worth, I try to read every thread that comes through these forums even if I don't explicitly reply.

WWDC?
Any LayOut users at WWDC this week? Drop me a line if you'd like to talk about the 2013 release or anything else related to LayOut!

RE: Custom text feature removed in LO 2013?
I know there's a way to save "Favorite" fonts on Mac, but I don't know of any way to do this on Windows... Could you explain what you were doing in LayOut 3? We didn't make any changes to the font panel (that I know of...)
thanks,

RE: Callouts using SU Component Names
Hi-
The LayOut team is definitely thinking along the same lines. I can't promise when it will get done, but...

RE: Layout 2013 Issues
Hi all-
The "copy from SketchUp and paste in LayOut" bug was introduced by some of the major refactoring in SketchUp. A fix for this is in QA as we speak and should be available soon.
thanks,
Marc -
RE: Does Trimble listen...?
There are a number of SketchUp folks who read this forum. Speaking only for myself, I focus on those conversations where I can make a difference by helping people with problems or perhaps tracking down a new bug report.

RE: M4 Layout File Issues?
I'm glad that worked! Unfortunately we don't have a good way to fix files that already have this problem. The trick is that some of the commas in the LayOut file are necessary, so it's not as easy as just replacing all commas with periods. Do you have a significant number of files in this state?

RE: M4 Layout File Issues?
Hi Piper-
It sounds like you're running into a problem that LayOut 3 has on computers where the decimal separator character is set to a comma instead of a period. The bug is that when LayOut saves a file, it starts using commas instead of periods, and then gets confused when it tries to read the file back in. This will manifest itself as text boxes and model views that collapse into a single line (among other problems).
For example, from the file you posted, I see this line in the xml:
<e:rectangleBase height="1,169292" width="0,8267701" x="2,755906" y="5,129921">
but for LayOut to work properly it should be this instead:
<e:rectangleBase height="1.169292" width="0.8267701" x="2.755906" y="5.129921">There is some good news, though! The workaround for LayOut 3 is to go into Windows Control Panel and change your "decimal separator" character to be a period. Also, we believe that this bug has been fixed in LayOut 2013 although it's still a bit early to know for sure.
Thanks,
Marc
