Bare in mind Progecad is for non-professional use and does not have even half the features that DoubleCAD has.

My girlfriend and I wasted most of yesterday downloading bizarre christmas songs. How sad are we?! Three of the most interesting :

Cold blooded Christmas by Jon LaJoie (not for children)

Warm Jamaican Christmas by Wayne Wonder and Baby Cham

    • Alternative Christmas Songs suggestions?

I've just started my yearly attempt to update my mp3 collection with some alternative, ironic, bitter or funny alternatives to the usual christmas songs. I thought this could be a good thread, know any good alternatives to White Christmas?

    • RE: How to make augmented reality whit your sketchup model(free)

A recent brainstorming discussion I had with some teachers about uses for augmented reality generated the following ideas, not all necessarily using SU:

-projecting a more detailed element or some sort of animation onto an architectural card model
-Projecting a digital costume design onto a real person
-Using AR to project a wireframe over a matching still life to explain perspective drawing
-If the target grid could be scaled up, to project shop display units, counters or exhibition stands into an empty interior space.

    • RE: Software to Size Photo Entourage

      Hi Susan, Csaba

Having only recently had access to Piranesi after years of imagining that it must be great, I was pleased to find out that actually it is! Csaba, I think the work flow can best be described as photoshop for perspective visualisation, Susan I'm sure you can explain this much better than me, but I'll try. You export a scene from Sketchup as an Epix file. That view opens really as a 2d image in Piranesi but entourage, materials and effects that you add behave intelligently in correspondence to the vanishing points of the 3d scene. So whereas if you stuck a person in a visual in Photoshop, you'd have to estimate the size and perspective and then fake a shadow, in Piranesi entourage snaps to the 3d planes in the scene and is resized according to the vanishing points (obviously CS3 and CS4 have some 3d functions similar to this). Nice soft shadows too. And also for people like me that can't get their head around photoreal rendering I managed to get a pencil crayon style visual that I was happy with out of Piranesi after only half an hour of tuition.

Susan I think what you are proposing is a great idea, I need to save up and buy the full Piranesi though, just adding people into my terrible KT or Vray attempts really isn't going to make them any better!

    • RE: Why You Should NOT Vaccinate Your Children

This has become a very black and white argument.

I think that is the essence of Modelhead's argument: vaccinations will not make you healthy or less prone to disease if you are unhealthy by nature. As has been said, virus strains change, so in a first world country where the risk of a serious outbreak of disease is lower, the arbitrary jab you are getting anyway needs questioning as the strain that it vaccinates against is most likely extinct, not the strain that you will need protecting against in a future epidemic. Modelhead please correct me if I'm wrong.

I am not against vaccinations but I feel very sceptical about tamiflu - a lucrative product that is being prescribed over the phone by people with no medical training, or any vaccination that we are told is necessary for everybody to have.
I have nothing to back this up except my own observations; I know plenty of people that eat well, live a healthy lifestyle but have seldom had vaccinations, if any, and don't have their kids vaccinated. They are almost never ill, their kids aren't often ill either.
I also know plenty of people who don't look after themselves properly, but go to the doctors constantly for jabs for themselves and their kids. The doctor must see them so much, he has probably carved their names on the chairbacks in the waiting room. These people seem to get every flu and cold, many of their kids have asthma, I could go on. In short, they are not healthy people.
And for the record, I have been to Africa, admittedly I knew that I would not even go near anywhere that would put me at any significant risk. I took no vaccinations and came back fine.

I strongly suspect that chrome OS proper will actually be, or at least look like, GOSlinux. Google have been working with them for a while.

      Hi all

I'm working in Rotterdam from next Tuesday until Friday. What should I see, where should I buy beer etc, etc?

I'm going to look at flood resistant architecture and public realm spaces mainly but all suggestions will be considered as the nights are my own 😎

I used to log in as my real name but like modelhead

      @unknownuser said:

I have too many outlandish things to say and my rants often end up in someones search results
A word of warning; a client googled my name one day and found me ranting about the war on this forum. So I decided to changed it. Looking around the house for inspiration I saw the word Linea on the label in a jumper. (There is a UK department store called Debenhams, their own brand is called Linea)

As for the avatar, my friend is an actor, for a while he had a drama company called Rare Breed and wanted a suitable logo so I just mashed 2 photos together. I keep thinking I should have a go at modelling the critter in SU.
