Still free for educational use - if you are registered college or uni but I know of an organisation with charitable status that use this for non commercial use. Apparently if you already have it installed and you are prompted to update, it revokes your license and prompts you to buy it.

as of now, i don't see word "suspended" at that url. or is the statement further along in the d/l process?

No they've released a new version Progecad Smart 2009 - free for non-commercial use

Hard to really look at ProgeCAD when DoubleCAD XT is free for whatever purpose. -
I have ProgeCAD 2009 and DoubleCAD. There is no comparison, ProgeCAD is head and shoulder above the quirky interface of DoubleCAD.

I will give ProgeCAD to being more ACAD like and thus more familiar.

Bare in mind Progecad is for non-professional use and does not have even half the features that DoubleCAD has.

Oh I agree, I've used them both and I like DoubleCAD better. Sure I had to learn the way it did certain things but if you need a free 2D dwg editor there is no better option IMHO. I did have an easier time with ProgeCAD to start with but saw what DoubleCAD had and it can be used commercially.
