I am using this in work and it's working really well without error for many months now.
Data prep is more of an issue for more complex models I am bringing in from places like Delatgen and Catia, SketchUp however is the easiest of the bunch.
You do need SketchUp Pro to make it work however and I havent' yet tried it on SU2019.
I am using a custom configuration for my 2.8 Blender interface by Vaughan Ling aka 'HeavyPoly'. I got it as part of a tutorial here https://gumroad.com/vling (I bought the container ship tutorial). I believe you can get the config for free on his website however.
Now on day 4 of learning to model and it's going very well so far. It will be a perfect companion for SketchUp I think, hopefully I will be up to speed in a month.
Indeed I owe you that much, send me a mail to liam@robotsvdinosaurs.com and I will sort out a nice big file repository for you!

I know you love scifi like me so I can send you some of my half finished bits and bobs and you can see where your imagination takes you? I owe you a million times over for using your wheels in so many of my pics so it's only Karma!!
That would great. Thanks!
What's your poison, bipedal walking machines or hovering electromagnetic hover units?
Looks exactly like the rolling stock we have here in Gothenburg! Has been on my to-do list.
You should edit this slightly and enter it into the SketchUp competition
I have to say, I was disappointed when I clicked and it was not a spaceship, I was so excited somebody had made the spaceship from Renzevouz with Rama: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendezvous_with_Rama (the first hard scifi book I ever read as a kid)... but this is a really good render well done!! Especially first go this is some very good work!

Cant come soon enough!!

Nailed it Liam, nice.
Cheers, I tried to use some plugins to create the fabric but could not get it how I wanted so used a ZBrush kit, 200MB just for the two cloth meshes! Turned out how I wanted in the end however.
This weeks practice project.
Re-used some part’s from older models + a spaceman model from Max G + and some great Zbrush components from Nick Govacko for the fabric.
I did a pass in THEA for reflections and painted the rest in Photoshop.
The model depicts a Volvo Orbital Construction Vehicle.

Thanks Liam, I am getting the feeling I may have gone too small with this one.
You can always scale it up my a meter if you need no?

Oh BTW Liam, I voted for a thumbs up in a post above but gave a thumbs down using touch screen
Haha no worries I did not see. The plan is to create a suite of automatic actions in Photoshop that allow you to do maybe 6-7 functions for SketchUp models. Lighting, highlights, reflections etc etc. They can be used on raw models exports or with renders. Still a few bugs to iron out it's been a few years since I made and serious ones. I will send them over to you as they go you can help me test them if you want.
Hmm kind of but it will be nowhere as good haha.
I am giving a presentation at SketchUp basecamp this year and it's one of the things I am building and giving away for it. If you look at this breakdown image I made yesterday, and look specifically at the 'glass and mirror section' you will get an idea.

Thank you very much! You are so kind! But unfortunately Kickstarter isn't available in my country so far. I'll let it that way by now. Thank you again!
P.S. 10$ for a beer?? Really? In Romania the cheapest beer is less than 1€
Try GoFundMe or Patreon, one of them will work I am sure. If not maybe look at using a VPN. https://www.patreon.com/

I am building an automatic Photoshop script for SketchUp at the moment I will keep you posted, it's going to take a few months!
Hi Liam, thanks! That is a cool idea mate, will it be just filters etc or will it do more, are you able to say?
Will do more I hope, combining the linework, emphasising any glass and reflections and altering the shadows etc.
