    • RE: [Plugin] SketchUcation Tools 2.6

I'm getting load errors after installing sketchucation tools 2.6. Could be a coincidence. This occurs when I open an .skp by double clicking it. It does not occur when I load SU by double-clicking the .exe or shortcut, then opening the model. (Win8, SU Pro 2014)

      Thx

Align tool 3D doesn't want to work with SU 2014. Is this a ruby version thing? I miss being able to use it.

Looks like SU 2014's a bust for me. It seems that every other plugin doesn't work now and I was getting massive clipping. For some reason they've decided to bury the Plugin folder here (win): C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins

Using Guide Tools 1.4.0 with SU Pro 2013 on Win8
circle-- cPoint at Circle Center worked fine
arc-- cPoint at Arc Center worked fine
same arc-- Exploded Arc Center worked fine

      Everything seemed to work okay.

    • RE: Dimensioned Cut-List, anyone have a better way?

I use CutList occasionally and find it very useful, but for roofs I need to list more information than length, width, and thickness, such as:

      angle of cheek cut(s)
      angle of heel cut
Height above plate for the seat cut

and a bunch of other info, especially for special members where there're unusual intersections. The cut list really has to be a dimensioned drawing, often with multiple orthographic views. I doubt I could get away from manually dimensioning a drawing, but I sure would love an easy way to get orthographic views of each member into Layout.

    • Dimensioned Cut-List, anyone have a better way?

I wonder if there's an easier way to do this:

To create a printable cut list of dimensioned components/groups (roof framing members) I use Didier Bur's Align-3D to copy and align each component to a remote area on the model. I then create a scene of the aligned components and use Layout to dimension and format the cut sheets.

It's pretty laborious. Anyone have a better way?

I'm trying to model walls along a rising and curving path (driveway on grade). The Follow Me tool doesn't allow me to keep the top and bottom edges of the profile horizontal, or the vertical edge vertical.

    • Curviloft: temporary dialog

Just installed 1.2d. After a while the menu disappears and a dialog labeled Curviloft: temporary appears and sits in the middle of the screen. When I exit the ruby and start it again, the dialog remains. I have to exit SU and reload for Curviloft to return to normal. After using it a while, the behavior returns. Fantastic tools though.

Yup, that's how used to work until recently. Now Erase+Ctrl+Shift erases the edge instead of undoing the smooth. I've tried different keyboards, rebooted, tried it on multiple files...

    • RE: Looking for tool to cut non-solids along a plane

      Apologies for the overlapping tiles.

After experimenting with the various approaches, it appears to me that trimming instances of tiles components with the Solid Tools Trim tool may be the quickest method overall. My thinking has evolved over this thread and I now see the value of having solid tiles. For one, they look much better, and they save space.

Now that I know the Trim tool makes trimmed components unique, saving what I thought was an extra step,I find it relatively easy to step through and trim each tile. Zorro2 is a great tool and will very quickly trim groups of tile components, making each one unique as it does so, but it leaves the trimmed edges without a face. This is fine in many cases, but when you want a face, it takes time to edit each component to replace it. That said, there's a place for each method.

So, using instances of tile components, what would be the quickest way to remove tile inside the box?
