I tried and it still doesn't show the bottom menu icon.
It is still too slow in responding on my input. If I click 'click here to continue', it takes more than 14 seconds.

      Hi all.
I recently installed the new version of SketchUp 2023.
I had to uninstall all the previous versions.
After I installed the Sketchup 2023 and ExtensionStore 4.3.1, the plugin became too slower.
Whenever I click the extensionstore button in the too bar, it takes more than 15 secs until it show the list of plugins.
Also there is no menu appeared at the bottom and if I click the setting button at the top it doesn't response.
I can't log in to my account, so I can't install the bundle that I have been using.

      How can I fix this?

It is exactly for what it says. It deactivates the licence on that given device and if the device is connected to the internet it also releases the seat. So it is a good solution to move the licence when you have access to the computer where you want to move the licence from.

I might have misunderstood your previous question. I thought you were looking for a solution for releasing a seat when a device is not accessible (e.g: broken). In this situation at the moment the only solution is to write to us.

Hi, I have another question about this matter.
Wrap-R was installed like a independent application and also installed the seam maker plugin into SketchUp. If I want to delete the old version of SketchUp and install a newer version, what is a proper procedure to move Wrap-R license to the newer version?

Based off of my detective work and forsenic examination I would deduce that the mesh is just messy. N-gons are not a good base for clean unwraps. Poor topology are not a good base for clean unwrap.

But WrapR does unwrap it if you triangulate.

Now I understand what the problem was. I triangulated all faces in real, connect every vertices and unwrap successfully this time.

Thank you for helping me and pointing out the N-gons problem. That was the main problem in my case.

So I triangulated every face and fix the hole you mentioned, but still wouldn't keep my work at saving. still does the issue #2 and #3 from my previous post.

WrapR works by creating a support WrapR folder next to the file. In that folder will be a folder named FileName and in their is the .skp WrapR app uses to save UVs to.

When you 'Reload from WrapR' in SketchUp this is the file we write into the viewport.

So when you say 'still wouldn't keep my work at saving' it doesn't address where in the chain of files and operations you are encountering issues.

      Open File.skp

      Mark Seams in File.skp

Select geometry and use context menu in File.skp to Send to WrapR

In WrapR you do some work and Save and Exit. Now the WrapR/FileName folder is created with the .skp with UVs

Back in SketchUp you right-click and 'Reload from WrapR' and the UVs are sorted. Then you save File.skp for the changes to stay in the file.

I am sorry that I wasn't clear. I understand how Wrap-R works in the file structure. What I mean by 'wouldn't keep my work at saving' is that when I click save inside Wrap-R, it rolled back all my welding back to previous or putting me somewhere. I post two videos showing this in the previous post.

In one case, I made seams in Sketchup and open in Wrap-R, and just click 'save' then everything went wrong without me doing anything, by just clicking save button.

Ok, so as I suspected the input mesh is the primary issue.

N-gons are not going to uv unwrap reliably. Triabgulate the mesh to give better results.

Thank you so much for taking time to investigate. I didn't even know what N-gon is, now I understand. thank you for that.

      @rich o brien said:

Also your input has many strange artifacts.

I am working on a game project having organic shape such as rocks, hills, and mountain. It has to be low poly and I am trying to find the working pipeline starting with SketchUp modelling and setting in Unity. Unsing different plugin back and forth to make high poly and low poly. That is why the mesh is so messy. But I wanted this possible with SketchUp and Wrap-R.

      @rich o brien said:

...you will see the geometry is not closed...

It is also an area that if you triangulate properly WrapR will UV unwrap it but the geometry created by triangulating results in long narrow triangles.

Based off of my detective work and forsenic examination I would deduce that the mesh is just messy. N-gons are not a good base for clean unwraps. Poor topology are not a good base for clean unwrap.

Wrap-R licence allows you to activate the software on up to 3 devices. At the moment there is no automated way of moving the licence from one device to an other. If for some unavoidable reason (e.g a device breaks down) it is necessary to free a seat we can do it manually if we receive a request for it with reasonable cause. Of course this possibility is only foe exceptional cases and not for regular moving of the licence.

There is a menu 'deactivate license' in the top menu. Would you tell me What this is for?
Also thank you for answering my question.

      Also a question.
How do you move your Wrap-R license to your new computer?
There is some issues when I first installed the program. I thought SketchUp version might be problem so I repeatedly installed and uninstalled Wrap-R several times. Then I can't license it any more. 3 seats came with the single purchase. So I wonder if I used them all.

About the licence. As I see your Wrap-R 2022 licence has been activated on 1 device. So you should be able to install it on 2 further devices.

Actually the license issue was about one of my colleague in our office. I will give you her email address for you to look at.

Still the answer is how I can safely move the program to another device without spending the seat.
Also if I try to reinstall the program, what is the proper procedure?

I recently purchase Wrap-R and faced several issues.

*Wrap-R doesn't support none English language
If I have file or file path using none English language, Wrap-R doesn't open or unwrap from sketchup. I had to work in the simple file path such my desktop and move to other place when I am done.

*Wrap-R doesn't keep my work at saving 01
After I finished seam work in SketchUp and unwrap from context menu, Wrap-R showed nice rather nice result, but when I save it suddenly some edges went crazy.

*Wrap-R doesn't keep my work at saving 02
After finishing welding edges, when I try to save, the work was undone.

      *Wrap-R duplicates at welding
When I welded an edge, Wrap-R duplicated islands.
      https://youtube.com/shorts/2XuQBSPfB0I?feature=share

I attached the file that has the issues.

      Any fix?

I have opened a ticket in Wrap-R support and emailed but no answer. I emailed to Gabor and he replied that he would come back with the fix last week. I am working on a time sensitive project and thought Wrap-R saved my ass. Now I started to think of refund which doesn't seem to be possible.

Any answer, fix, or solution, please?

    • RE: Bad News for Architects in the next ver. of Google Sketchup

I always have appreciated the philosophy of Google and they have been good to make all kinds of useful information belong to people, not to corporates(in terms of their mission statement). I think they are making efforts to make the exclusive format of DWG more universal. This is just start. For those who want to make this world better, they need to participate and put up with the inconvenience along the necessary change.
A corporate can easily dominate a market with their enormous money and sometimes the method that the company takes along their profit is not necessarily good for the majority of human kind. Once it happens, it is really hard to make it back. I believe Google is the one of those corporates with good will. I value their idea that they try to bring the result of one's effort back to the creator(3D model and its information to the creator in this case). There are many ways to work around; you can stick to the previous version, you can buy or download a DWG import/exporter ruby plugin, or just buy the Pro version. I have benefited from all the things Google provides for free. May be, this is one small thing that I can participate to support their philosophy, having patience and shifting from old habit to new one.

Wmanning, thank you for your tip and I also found another solution for the issue.

For those who has the workflow between SU and AutoCAD,
There are option to check. If you use 2009, Go to Tools-Option in the top menu bar. It opens up the option dialogu box. Under the User Preference tab, in the Associatice Dimensioning category, there is a check box. If you check this option, the issue will be solved. I will post a image.

P.S: I am sorry. I know this is rather CAD issue but I have been frusttrated by the issue for a long time. I think this will be a good tip to whom has the same issue.

I just found ,in order to snab the endpoint, I had to call out the snab seperately from the context menu, otherwise CAD wouldn't snab it automatically.

Anyway, it is amazing how much I can improve my knowledge from here. I appreciate a lot of useful information available here again.

Anssi, thank you for the comment.

I just watch one of the 3D basecamp video. In there(http://sites.google.com/site/3dbasecamp2008/), Mitchel Stanglexplained about the workflow between the SU and CAD. He uses the SU exported 3D dwg file as X-ref.
Main difference between his and mine is that I used mostly the 2D snab shot DWGs from one SU model and he uses one 3d exported drawing. I think his way is the way to go.
In my way, I couldn't dimension on circles and arcs so I have to replace them in AutoCAD but I can snab any single point when I dimension.
In his way, I can diemnsion on arcs and circles but the exported SU 3D model didn't grab endpoint properly when I try to dimension it in a layout space.
I didn't practice much enough to build my opinion on his work-flow but do you think this is a known issue or just something wrong in my model?

    • Dimensioning on a SU exported DWG in AutoCAD

I have had problems in dimensioning on a exported DWG in a layout
space of AutoCAD from time to time.

      Here is the thing

      1. Create a drawing in SketchUp
      2. Export as DWG - check the scale
      3. Open up the drawing in AutoCAD
      4. Check the size of the drawing in the model space
      5. Create a viewport in a layout space
      6. Dimension on the exported object ---- at this moment, dimensions appear out of scale.

This happens so often, and I haven't figured out why.
I made a work-around which is making a new file in AutoCAD and
inserting the exported drawing as a block. Then the dimension seems
      working fine.

Has anyone had the same problem before and figured why?

    • Follow Me tool in SU7

      Hi all

I am writting my thesis for my school and it is SketchUp tutorial.
I used SU6 with the models. Since the new version came out, I have been updating the tutorials to match along the new version. During the operation, I faced a weird issue.
I have two circles with different dimension but concentric each other and a Profile located in-between the circles to be swept along the circle by the Follow-me tool.
I created a cable sheave which looks like shallow cylinder with groove along the side perimeter. On the center, there is a hole for a bolt.
Any way, once I created this 3d shape, I can't push/pull the top/bottom face which is created from Follow-me tool.
I even made a new circle over the face but it wouldn't be extruded either. Also I can't get the area information of the face from entity info dialogue box. I think the new SU deal with the face generated from follow-me tool differently from the face generated from other tools.

I have impression that the Follow me tool is getting weaker and weaker in its power. In the earlier version, it would create any shape, but it skips to generate faces on certain angle or with small dimension object since SU6.

Could anyone tell me if it is bug and there is a work-around?
Otherwise, I think I should finish my thesis with SU6.

      Thank you

      P.S: I attached the file.
