    • RE: Script Selection and Loading

Well, I don't really want to be the only one to keep harping on this great plugin. However, after reading how some plugin will not load correctly in another folder. I tried renaming the plugin with a .x as the file extension. That way the plugin will be in the plugin directory if required, and the loader adds the .rb extension. So far so good. So now I will not need to move all the plugin to another folder, just rename the file extension.

      Down sizing my plugins.

    • RE: Script Selection and Loading

Thanks to Alexander Schreyer for writing this script, Jim Folz for his help and Chris for the link.

This script works as indicated. I have renamed some script to give me a more accurate indication exactly what the script does. So far, it has loaded all the renamed scripts.

Now, I just need to clean up my plugin directory. This will be a big help in keeping order. I never really like loading all the script at the beginning, but just could not get though all the cutter of confusing names to load each script by the script loaded I have now.

      Again thanks to all.

      Question

I have a ruby script by TIG and Didier that displays PDF help files. I have found this of great help. Activating this pluging, lists all the PDF help files in the plugin dirtectory, such that selecting a help file from the drop down list the selected help file will be open for reading.
Would like to ask the question, could this ruby script by modified such that it would look into another directory such as PluginLoad, list all the plugins in a drop down list, that reside in that directory, and load the chosen plugin from the drop down list when seleced
This way, I could load all the main plugins each and every opening, however, by using this modified version, I could make a selection of another plugin which I wish to use, have it loaded and available.
This would clean up my plugin drop down list, if I could selectivity load plugins as required.

      Thanks in advance
Also, thanks to TIG and Didier for original display help files plugin.

Ever so slightly in her defense, I would not have called 911, but I damn sure would have called some authority if they did not have what I ordered and still tried to keep my money. What where they thinking. Is it OK to keep your money if they can substitute. No.

Well thank you for the great plugin. I know those who cannot write these plugins never seem to be satisfied. So could this plugin be made to work on groups as well as components?

      Again thanks

Yep, that did it. Thanks for the info. I knew I had seen option that somewhere, but just couldn't find it again.

Now, someone with clairvoyance just tell me when I moved that slider.

Thanks for your very quick reply.

    • Disapearing model on group selection to edit

OK, I am just working. I didn’t change any styles, or other program parameter. Now however when I click on a group to edit the group, the rest of the model disappears. The screen is blank and white, expect for the selected group , with no ghostly image of the rest of the model.

On a new drawing, this does not happen; I can see the ghostly outline of the rest of the model when I select a group to edit.

What have I change, or what did change?

      Gaieus
I guess I was venting a little steam.

IMHO, the Google guys make a living by updating SketchUp and don’t use it for work, or they would know how much time is wasted trying to keep the most acreage on screen. Moreover, it not like it just popped up with the latest release or version. The problem has been here as far as I know since version 4.

So it is time, this has risen to the top my list of items that need a solution.

So thanks for your understanding of the my frustration, Gaieus.

Now, I will be quite and get back to work.

    • RE: Lock toolbars

Well I see the toolbar issue has been moved because it was not on subject. To me, that was the subject. I downloaded the new maintence release, approximately 15 minutes total to download and install. Fire up Sketchup and wham bam, ready not to use. So now I spend hours trying to get my drawing space back. Even now into the next day I am still fighting to get the tools bars back to position I had them before the upgrade.

This disorder happens everytime I load a new toolbar. My solution until now, which with this new release seems harder to get the toolbars into position, was to have any toolbar I thought I might ever need loaded and finally after much fuss getting them into some condensed position, without losing a great deal of drawing space and save the file as my template.

What I really want is to start off with the minimum toolbars, add what I need, subtract what I don't need, and not spend the next hours trying to get my drawing space back.

      AndrewS

Well I have installed the upgrade. About 15 minutes of reading and computer time. However, please, someone spend some time correcting the tool bar locations problem. After a half hour to trying to arrange the tools bars, I finaly just gave up. I now have tool bars scattered all over the top of the screen.

Please, it cannot be that hard to correct this mess.

Anyway, thanks for the update. It would be nice if there were some indication on how this upgrade fixes or adds something to the older ver.

Again thanks, you and all the other team members for this program.

Now, start on the toolbar problem

    • RE: [Requested Plugin] Lathe tool

      Watkins

I also use Sketchup for mechanical design. I drill down into the group, draw a line across the part, which will make a face, erase the line, use the ruby “Set Center Point” to redefine the center, and then erase the face. Need to make sure that the point is inside the group or it will not move with the parts.

I also would like the lath tool, but until it arrives, this is the method I use to re-establish the center point of “follow me” groups.

Yes to both. Did some searching couldn’t find anything on selecting groups/component for displaying hidden geometry.

    • Selection of hidden geometry

      Hidden geometry

Sometimes I wish to see the hidden geometry on a group/component that is behind or inside a hidden group/component.

So is it possible to turn on hidden geometry on just a selected group/component, such that the hidden geometry in the foreground does not show up?

As an example, I may have one side of a box hidden so that I can see inside the box. However, I wish to align groups inside the box, and I don’t wish to have the hidden side to show up. Just have the hidden geometry of the selected groups show.

      Thanks in Advance

      Hi Matt

Thanks. As you can see from my avatar, I design in flat steel plate, and 1/8” is close enough for welders.

Your response was faster service than I had at the restaurant I just returned from. Hope others find this helpful.

      Again much thanks.

And on a side note, my youngest daughter is trying to be an exchange student to France this summer. She is taking French in HS this year. I know if she gets to go, she will have a great time.

      Again thanks

      Sir

Matt666 your Plugin Toggle Units is very useful and I use it all the time when I get marine vessels in metric and diving equipment in Imperial.

Just one question, would it be possible to add up and down precision buttons, so with a mouse selection, one could change the precision of the display either up or down as required?

Thanks in advance and again thanks for the very useful plugin.

Yep, change is in the wind.

Bush: We will us waterboarding in special circumstances
Obama: We will not use waterboarding except in special circumstances

Not a quote, just my rewording and understanding of the old and new process. I am sure the terrorist suspects will notice and appreciate the subtle difference in phraseology.
