      Mr. Bur

Thanks for you very useful script.

Just a side note, installation of your script has re-arranged all my toolbars. This is nothing new, it happens with every script installation that adds a new toolbar. So I have to re-arrange the menus, and usually they are not in the same order, and another learning curve is required.

But this time, I have outwitted this darn re-organizational mess. I took a JPG screen snap shot of the toolbars before installation. Imported this JPG into a Sketchup model and saved the model as SketchupToolbars. So now I just load this program and re-arrange all the tools bars as the JPG indicates. Now no new learning curve.

Mr. Bur again thanks for the script.

Of course shown in 2D with parallel projection?

      That would be slick.

Yep, that what I would like.

    • Plugin Request - Make Orthrographic Views

      Script Request

I know that Sketchup has a menu with views. And there are other scripts that allow one to set the display to different views.

However, I am wondering, could a script be made to actually make the orthographic views. Such that I would set my group/model up for a front view, select the “Make View” script and select the “right” setting and the script would copy the selected group, move the copy to the right and rotate the group/model to the right 90 degrees, creating the “right” view. Than I would select the group/model again, select the “left” setting and the process would repeat creating the left view. Continuing this process until I have all the views I wish to export.

For me having to bring all drawing into the ACAD file format, this would greatly simplify my work load. I could take the 5 to 10 groups, run the script making all the orthographic views of each group that I wish, than make one ACAD export of all the groups.

      Thanks in advance.

    • RE: Add X and Y Postion text

      Chris

Thanks for the very quick reply. Sometimes one just forgets all the tools available.

However, what I was trying to do. I work with plate steel panels. I align copies of each panel to the front view, arranging all the panels in order. I like to make sure they are all aligned correctly before I make a ACAD export. Also I need to be in the parallel projection view before exporting.

I have noticed that if I use the section view, and starting on no particular panel, most of the time not all the panels will show up in the section view, or sometimes just part of the panel. So my reasoning was that they were not all at the same position. So I wanted the plugin so I could go around to each corner and have a text message showing the position.

I like using the “Export Section Slice” as a DWG. This way I don’t have to hide the rest of the model and I can be selective about what I want exported.

The elevation plugin works on groups, however, the TEXT menu option only gives the info when the plate section is exploded.

      Thanks for your reply

      Plugin Request

I have a plugin that is called “Add Elevation Text” in the plugin menu. I was wondering, could a plugin be written that supplies, “Add Y Position Text”, “Add X Position Text”?

      Thanks in advance

I have tried you script and find it useful. However, is it necessary to pick a distance? Why not, pick point A, a point B, and have point A move to point B.

      Thanks for all your work

      Drill

Well drill comes close to a useable plugin. If the item is not a group or component, it works well, and has a function. However, it the item is a group or component, when you edit the group or component, and use drill, the group or component disappears.

      Thanks for script.

    • RE: Ruby Uninstaller - Is it needed...?

      Chris

I would like a ruby unstaller. Maybe if there was some way one could tell which ruby were still running and the ruby that were shut down. In addition, be able to uninstall a ruby without stopping and starting Sketchup.

Right now, I change the extension to "KLE". This doesn't allow the ruby to run the next time, however, this take a lot of on and off of Sketchup to determine the problem ruby.

Right now I have a problem making components, I haven't been able to determine what ruby is causing this problem.

So yes a ruby uninstaller without having to turn Sketchup on and off.

    • RE: [Plugin] Perpendicular Face Tools (UPDATED 26-03-09)

      Chris

Thanks for remembering. However, it has changed from the original. It went to one menu item during one of your scripts install to now again two menu items. I have just learned to live with it.

Here are the two menu items as of now.

      First Chris Fullmer Tools

      1. Center on origin
      2. Shape Bender

Second Chris Fullmer Tools – Well I’ll be darned, I have two Shape Benders. I never noticed that there was a duplicate menu item.

      1. Components onto Face
      2. Label Open Edges
      3. Scale & Rotate
      4. Select Lines by Length
      5. Shape Bender
      6. Loose Geometry to Groups
      7. Perpendicular Face Tool
      8. Line Tool
      9. Arc Center Finder
      10. Simple Loft
      11. Extended Standard View

Also, Chris thanks for the tip on how to arrange menu items by adjusting you window size. So far it works great.

    • RE: [Plugin] Perpendicular Face Tools (UPDATED 26-03-09)

      Chris

I noticed that “Perpendicular Face Tools” (PFT) will make squares that are in factions of an inch, such as 10 1/4" per side, however the circle tool always seems to round off, 10 1/4” becomes a 10” radius.

Was this intentional, or is it an error with my computer?

Would be nice if the circle tool would operate with factional inches.

      Thanks for all you plugins.

      Chris

Will I downloaded Jing to record what was happening. However, the problem seems to have been an aberration. Right now I cannot get it to repeat.

It was a major slow down.It would take the ISO view over ten seconds to respond. I wasn’t modeling, just using a small model for testing. Maybe something else was going on. Will keep Jing in the standby mode.

      Thanks for your quick reply.

I noticed the more I use the plugin, the slower the response is to the ISO view. This slow down even affects the Sketchup views.

Yes, I do get a Bug Splat when I open up your other documentations. I have other problems also, haven't been able to trace those down to any particular scrip or set of scrip’s. Therefore, I will just go about my way, remembering what not to do, and saving or archiving frequently.

Again thanks for all your effort in these plugins.

      Fredo,

I get a Bug Splat each time I try to open the PDF documentation. Sketchup quits, and give the Bug Splat, however the documentation does open.

However, thanks for this script. For me, I will find a great deal of use cleaning up models after Intersect with Model.

      Again thanks

    • Laptop HD question

      Computer question

I have a Dell laptop with an 80 gigs (gs) HD, SATA. I wish to upgrade the drive to a 320 gs HD, SATA. I know there are kits that you can buy that supply a case, cable and software, and the minimal advertising directions, make it sound oh, so easy. However, my question is, if I image my 80 gs HD to the 320 gs HD, do I get a 80 gs copy on the new drive, with the extra 240 gs not useable or does the image take into account the extra space, and I have my 80 gs of info on a 320 gs just taking up 80 gs of space with the extra 240 useable.

Right now I have 24 gs on drive C:, with the rest on D:, I wish to end up with 100 gs for drive 😄 and 220 on drive D.

      Thanks in advance
