    • RE: Help with wrapping around object

      Hi Elisei,

Thanks again, but this means that it will subtract it from the dome. I do not want to substract it. I want to make a new shape wrapping all around the rectangle and dome in a "knot" kindaway. It is difficult to explain but it is something like the picture attached. But then wrapping it around the rectangle and dome. Actually laying (in contact with) just above the dome but when coming down from the sides of the rectangle, not touching the rectangle, but coming in a curve following the curves of the dome and then bending around it.

      Thanks again,

      Kashaki

      Hi Elisei,

Thanks for your reply. But what do you mean with 'draw it on a horizontal plane and then push it down"? Because that knot shape is actually 'hugging' the dome shape but it is not hugging the blocked shape. It is coming from the dome in a curve and bending around the block.

I have attached the file is it maybe possible to show what you mean?

      Thanks in advance,

      Kashaki

    • Help with wrapping around object

      Hi guys,

Hope you can help me out on something. I have an object, block beneath and hollow oval shape on top of it. I want to make something( a strip that will change in its thickness, at some places it will be thin and at some places it will be thicker) and wrap the object all around. Almost like a knot in a way. Do you guys know how i can achieve this. I find it very hard working with curves around that hollow glassed oval on top and then making it bend nicely at the sides, coming around etc.

I actually don't know how i can draw on top of that oval shape, then around and make it bend around the rectangle in a curve etc etc. Cause when i have the shape i want to push pull it (fredo6jointpushpull) to give it thickness. Or do you think i have to use the follow me (and keep) tool or something like that. Really don't know.

I have tried to draw it to explain a little bit what i am after in the attachment. All the help is needed.

      Thanks in advance,

      Kashaki

Thanks Pilou and thanks Box for you reaction. So it does not exist in Sketchup, such a pitty. Hope someone will develop it one dat. But for now my quest has to go on. So i have to give up Sketchup on this one.

Thanks for the other programs. I work on a mac and there is rhino for mac but no grashopper for mac.

I will keep some hope that someone will post a heavenly solution for me ๐Ÿ˜„

    • RE: Morphing cube to sphere

      Hi Pilou,

Thanks for your reaction. I can see that this LSS toolbar is indeed morphing a square to a circle but is in 2D.

I need it in 3D, so i can morph two shapes that are not necessary basic geometric shapes but let's say more complex in form (see attachment just an example). It would be great if there is a tool available that morphs a shape into another shape and lets you choose in how many steps in between you want to do the morph. So you can keep all the shapes in between as well. I see that the LSS toolbar tool is doing this only in 2D.

      So any other suggestions please?

      Thanks again.

      Regards,
      Kashaki

      Hi John,

Thanks for your reaction. I actually do know artisan. The only thing with artisan is that it do does manipulate the shape, but it does not take the cube and morph it into entered steps into a sphere. Or for example a star shape morph into a cylinder shape.

I need something that recognizes the two shapes and makes a morph from the one to the other in steps. Cause i need all the shapes in between as well.

I think with Artisan, i can take a cube and subdivide it manually but i don't know a morph tool in Artisan in the above desribed method that i am a searching. Correct me if i am wrong please, cause i did not use Artisan that much.

    • Morphing cube to sphere

      Hi guys,

Newbie here on this forum, been reading a lot but not posting so much.
Hope all you guys do well. I have a question and hopefully you can help, or advice a plugin or a technique or something. Cause i really need to have a solution for my study project. Thanks in advance.

      My question:

Do you guys know how i can morph a cube to a sphere by having all the steps in between? Like in the attached image? I heard that in grashopper you can draw a cube and draw at the other side a sphere and let grashopper do the morph from shape to shape. You can enter in how many in between steps you want to do the morph.

Is there some plugin or technique that will allow me to do this in Sketchup? Not particulary only for a cube to a sphere but for like any geometry?

Thank you for reading and hopefully helping out.

(the attached image i found on the internet, i think it is grashopper)

      Regards,
      Kashaki

    • RE: [Plugin][$] Curviloft 2.0a - 31 Mar 24 (Loft & Skinning)

Great plugin, i am loving it! I have just discovered it silly me.

Still! Hope someone can help me out. I make 3d belzier curves, copy array 15 of them and place them behind each other with space in between. Group them after welding and then use Sketchy FFD to make an organic form of those 15 curves. When i then ungroup them, select them all and use Curviloft it starts working till around 90% and then Sketchup crashes. Can someone help me? Thanks in Advance. When i reduce the curves and just use two of them all is good. Working on Mac with 16 GB RAM.

      Kashaki!
