If your original SU style had white background it will already be clear. In fact (I just figured out) if you then set it to hidden line and vector rendering in LO it will all be clear without exploding.
That worked just fine... Finaly i got a result Again thank you both for your effort
However you just have to explode the hidden line viewport. Then ungroup it. Then erase the white part out of it and if you did stack everything right you'll get this (click the below gif if it's not moving):
Ok people, I`m getting closer
First thank your for taking your time with my layout issue.. Again it is much appreciated.
I`m getting very close i guess, but the part that i don't understand now is the "Then ungroup it. Then erase the white part out of it"
I manage to explode it and get it translucent but the "erase the white part" i don't get. What am I missing out on ???
Thnx again.
did you check your layer stacking?[/quote]
LOL, have no idea what that even means

Ehhhhhh.... what are the chanses of you making a little image tutorial for a complete Layout nooob...
The chances are pretty big!
Hi again..
Thank you so much for your great effort trying to explain this to a dummy, but it seems this is out of my reach
Do i import a gradient translusent picture and lay it over the original model ?? if i do it does not fade.. I must be doing something wrong but i dont know what LOOOOL ! !
Thnx again for your effort.

That particular case it is possible... You just have to use a gradient png from transparent to white and place it over the bottom viewport, wich is textured. Above the previous 2 viewports you'll place a copy of the bottom viewport with a different style.
Of course this is a workaround that works in this case but not all.
Ehhhhhh.... what are the chanses of you making a little image tutorial for a complete Layout nooob... it would be so much apprichiated
thnx for reply..
Hi all...
Is this possible in Layout ?? Fading one model with two different styles in to one picture??? ( i know the picture shows a render and a model but it shows the principal)
Ive been using this plugin since it came out and it is one of my "must have" plugins. it is with out a doubt one of the best way to check you
r model for flaws and errors.
Just to check the whole model and have it show`n what is solid and not, stray edges, coplanar faces and so on is amazing..
collision check, weight of components and group and the whole structure you`r working is just amazing.
There are plugins, and great plugins around doing similar stuff, but to have it in one bundle and easy to use is just great.
Engineers and architects would benefit a lot of this plugin...
Please give it a go, I bet you will enjoy it..
Thnx for sugestions. I just updated to SU 2014 and gone easy on the plugin installs, just the one i really need.
Working on the same model as I did 3 days ago on SU 2013 i have had no Bugsplats so far.. will take a note on every install i make and see if the issue returns.
thnx again..
Hi..
I us a lot of the plugins i find here on sketchucation, download them them, install them the right way, and they all work just fine..
My problem is that when i work in SU it often "bug splats" using SU native tools, like "move" or "move copy" (ctrl + move) and the "trim tool"
I have know idea what it is.. and its been a issue since SU version 8. and it is veeeeery frequently... like every 15-30 min..
i never copy my plugins from folder to folder, if i reinstall SU i also reinstall every single plugin.
I do not have Sketchup physics
So if anyone know of bad plugin combinations please post it here, maybe that could be one of my issues.
all reply`s and suggestions are appreciated.
Thnx...
Title changed. I have several ways of doing the cut, but again hoping for a faster, quicker way... Like the one i use in inventor. select surface, edge, set cut distance and angle, hit enter, "hokus pokus" and its gone.. i don't know if it is a hard script to create, but you script writers create all kinds of miracles so I
m hoping for the best here.
That is the way i do it today yes, but as i do the "section cut" operation a lot, I was hoping for a more automated way..
LOL, have it and love it. Did not know it could do that.. Can it chamfer thru the profile like in the picture and not only the edge of the profile. If it can, then crossing fingers helped
Once again i have a wish for a new plugin, like i have in Inventor.
Chamfer: select the surface, set distanse from edge, add angle and it trims away what you want.
I do this manualy, but I wish i had a plugin for it..
"crossing fingers"
Thnx
Holla
Dont know i you know of this plugin but i has helped me a lot regarding roads.... A great plugin
Hia All..
another great plugin from these guys... (dont know if anyone posted/announced before)
well my quick solution for the day was to use "profilebuilder" there i have the lines i need... Quick and works just great.
Ok... Seems i found somthing... You can use DXF files so SU native DXF exporter works. but Staad dont want the modell as solids, it wants all the centerlines of all the profiles in use.
