      @mr s said:

      Hi,

A more versatile and professional animation addition to SketchUp as you suggest would be most welcome.
But while the shadow bug (still not fixed after 9 years) is still present why would anyone waste all their time and effort on producing something like this.
What would be the point of enabling us to produce better animations with these new tools only for the final output to be ruined by the horrible mess of the SketchUp shadows.
Some may take the view that animations can be produced without shadows. Whats the big problem? But Sketchup Pro is supposed to be a professional 3D application.
Shadows form an important part of 3D work and as part of a profeassional application should work correctly.

To me, this situation is a bit like Adobe saying Photoshop is a professional 2D editing application but it doesn't work correctly with JPG files. But don't worry, you can work around this by using other file types. Madness!

The addition of better animation tools would only be of use if seamlessly intergrated to work with third party renderers such as Vray, Fryrender, SU Podium etc.

      Regards
      Mr S

Are you going to be stamping your feet in a tantrum on a regular basis over the shadow bug? Maybe if you cry or wet your pants while you do it Google will be forced to act.

John, have you a link to the 'true' story as you believe it?

      Mike

I simply did a Google search with olympic lip synch scandal and read a couple of stories from the front page.

And when I just did the same search a few minutes ago the first few links I clicked on said that the 7 year old was replaced because she wasn't pretty enough. πŸ˜’

Just tell him to give you what he feels is fair. It's him who has come to you and said he feels you deserve more than you received. If he hadn't come to you you'd have probably thought nothing of it, so let him decide how much he wants to give you.

i myself find this whole scandal to be an outrage. that little girl that was supposed to sing competed in a grueling competition in order to sing at one of the greatest world gatherings. only for the Chinese government to say "no, your not pretty enough" to her and instead have another little girl with no singing talent steal her place and her voice. at least the chinese government told the world that it was faked, if they didnt say anything about it and i found out, i would be furious.

and whats more, the chinese government started to find online threads and discussions about the scandal and soon after started to delete them! youtube videos have been blocked, threads deleted. i think that this forum isnt in danger of that happening.

But it didn't happen like that.

The girl who performed at the Olympics was always going to be the one who was performing. But at a late stage it was decided that she wasn't singing well enough, so they made the decision to substitute her singing to her miming to the best recording.

Of course, the foreign media decided to write that the 7 year old girl wasn't chosen because she was too ugly. Somehow I doubt that the show organisers would have phrased it like that when they told her that the performance would be performed to her singing. So something that would have been a true accolade becomes a scandal because of the worldwide media and the morons who believe them. Well done.

Could it be the Chinese powers that be are just looking at too many old American flicks?

Seeing as the desire to want to produce the best show possible is obviously a Communist trait, it's pretty obvious that the Communists took over Hollywood and the American entertainment industry. Milli Vanilli, body doubles, the massive use of cosmetic surgery, CGI, lip-synching. The evidence is overwhelming.

I reckon Senator McCarthy was really just a great guy trying to do a honourable job. It was a fantastic mind-trick that the Communist Hollywood bosses pulled on the world to make him look like a crazed witch-hunter.

You'll need to post a picture of the problem, or post the model on here.

The only thing that springs to mind is that maybe a face hasn't been created, but as you said that you can go inside the component and move the face that way suggests that's not it.

    • RE: Problems with selection of a face for push/pull

You cannot Push/Pull a component by just selecting a face on that component. You have to select the component first by double-clicking on it, then you'll be able to PP the face you want.

I was watching synchronized diving the other night and the chinese girls couldn't have been 16! I mean... I know the average chinese person is smaller than the average american but come on... these girls looked like they were 8 or 9! No Joke!

If they weren't 16 years old doesn't that make the fact they are competing in the Olympic Games even more impressive?

      Prefer the first water house.

In WH2, I think the smaller windows should be the same white colour as the large windows facing the lake.

How are the large windows going to open so that people can gain access to the balcony?

Wouldn't building the house into the lake add massively to the cost of the building while not adding that many benefits??

    • RE: Yang Peiyi, the little girl that SHOULD have appeared ....

According to an article I read, it wasn't a case of the prettier girl replacing the chosen singer. The chosen girl wasn't performing well enough in rehearsal, so a decision was made to have her mime to a recording of the strongest singer.

IMO it's all a big fuss over nothing.

Was there much fuss over Pavorotti lip-syncing his performance for the opening of the Turin Winter Games in '06?

    • RE: Editing Warehouse model

You could delete the old model and upload the new one, but you could clear all the 3DW information from the updated model and have both on the 3DW to show the old model and the update.

To clear the 3DW info you need the clear 3d warehouse ruby from this page: http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/em_fil_page.htm

The second image is really good. The clear problem is that the people have all been photographed in daylight so they stand out a mile.

I also think the chairs and tables need to be moved around. Everything looks too perfect. Every chair is perfectly aligned, the ketchup and mustard bottles and the menus are all positioned the same.

I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun. It costs about $100 or less in the US, not sure how much in the rest of the world.

For SU it's not that good (the mouse and keyboard are much better for SU), but for any drawing or photo editing programs a tablet is pretty much a must. I'd definitely recommend it.

I don't think it has rendered a different colour on the balls as it has on the snake. Both the snake and the balls are a mirror-like finish, but because the balls are much greater in size it appears differently to the much smaller snake shape.

does anyone have any good ideas on what type of car i should next?

Just looking at this thread, it's obvious you like to do sports/supercar types. I think you should try and model a normal, everyday kind of car. Maybe model the car your parents drive. Model a neighbours car. That will give you the advantage of being able to have a really good look at the car and take lots of photos to work from.
