Are any of them truly, actually inside sketchup? What's the problem with exporting? are you on freemake?

The problem with exporting is that I get people looking at a render and then wanting additional changes.
Changes that require going back into Sketchup and then having to re-export.

So a solution whereby I can do it all in SU would be best for me.

      Really?
I did not pick up on that when I browsed their website.
      The renders look great.

I don't do any paid renders and I'm not very good at it... But I can tell you which one I've been wanting. Thea Presto.

Sure, but you have to export the model.
That's exactly the step i'm looking to omit.

      Mitsuba looks interesting.
But it looks a little crude yet.

Fake Grass via Motion Blur is a cool and creative solution, but I remain a little unconvinced.
Do you know of any large renderings of outdoor architectural scenes where I can see the results?

With Vray, everything is done inside SU. You can even render with 64bit without leaving SU.

Sounds and looks great, but $835.00 is way, way too much to spend.

You seem to have a good basis with Podium & Vue. Perhaps you need to upgrade your PC?
If you have a 64 OS, it may be an idea to have a renderer separate from SKUP, as it remains a 32 bit application - which also limits the built in renderer package.

Ah ok, i didn't realize that.

Thing is, it would take a very long time to setup my scenes in Vue.
I want to omit the whole - exporting my model and all the nuances involved like triangulating faces, re-naming texture files etc.
If I could model in SU, and render there too, that would be best.

I won't be going with SUPodium, while I had the very original first release, it's just not perfect way too slow.

I haven't used VRAY, what about that Kerkythea?
Can i render my scenes without exporting etc?
Then add detail into my modeland render again?

I have been out of the loop for awhile.
      I used to use SU6.
I had purchased SUPodium for rendering inside SU but it was way too slow.
I then moved on to Vue Pro Studio. Results were amazing, but again very slow.

So i'm looking for a suggestion for rendering inside SU (after i buy the latest version).
It's primarily for exterior architectural scenes.
I'd like to be able to include 3d trees, lush grass and my own textures.
Bump maps or even Normal mapping support would be good too.

      Any suggestion?

    • Recommend a plugin?

sorry to be nuisance but i'm looking for plugin that does the following:

Adds detail, like Sandbox, only to all selected faces.
I need a plugin that will add complexity to my model, a bit like Mudbox does.
So that when I later import it into another app to perform vertex painting, i'll have plenty of verts to paint.

      can anybody recommend something?

I find Sandbox->add detail doesn't do anything to my model..

      nice observation!

I turned the quality slider down to 0 and found an option in the drop-down box that gives a better result.
      Not flawless though.
It's one for the UDK forums at any rate.
      Thanks for the help.

Well, all the white faces are pointed out, if that's what you mean.
I don't think SU offers many options regarding normals.
      Do you mean smoothing?

I tried again using a more simple model but results are the same.
Tried toying around with the 2 options in the Soften Edges window, but got the same results.

I'm confident people are able to put SU content into UDK, there's another ruby script exporter someone made called "HardPCM", but it produces the same results for me.
So i'm not using that script atm.

      Hiya,

I downloaded this plugin with the goal of importing my Sketchup models into Unreal Developers Kit (UDK).
But even though the faces are triangled ok, when I import my model in UDK most the triangles are really messed up.
      Like this:

      http://photos2.pix.ie/E2/45/E2458AAC3155407588F70888B4B391C8-0000316933-0002622418-00800L-6AC7C78B1057411F8E2C7FDD5C50FCC1.jpg

I suppose this doesn't indicate any problem with triangulatefaces.rb, but rather UDK.
Has anybody else tried to this? Would love some advice. 🎉
