The similar Octane tool is only available to download if you bought a [cheap] beta-license for Octane...
However, it is 'almost identical' to the version here... so I am at a loss to see the difference that causes a spat πŸ˜’

      Hi TIG,

I don't mind paying for the license. If you had success with your version then perhaps it's an OBJexporter extension issue; the extension has not been updated (could that be an issue?).

      Appreciate your help!

I confirm that the OBJexporter fails [splats] when trying to export this file.
There's nothing wrong with the file/instance/group/material/texture names so I can't see what's up.
It gets half way to the end of the OBJ and fails.
It uses much the same code as my Octane exporter. That works fine !

Hi TIG! Is your "Octane" exporter available in the plug-in store? Thanks for testing the model.

the 3 d ware house shows the model as sU8, is that correct?
I used tigs objectexporter, installed in my su8 but got bug splat 3 different times when I tried to export. I have not used this much at all. will try with make and see what happens

I think that SketchUp Make is also SketchUp 8. I'm having the same problem with "bug splat" when I try to export. The really strange part is that I don't have this problem on any of my other models. Just this one.

    • One File Won't Export

      Hi!

I have a house model built in SketchUp Make (free version) which will not export when I use the extension "OBJexporter." I've been using this extension successfully on many house and furniture objects without incident. At first I suspected long texture/material file names; so I shortened the file names; seems not to be the problem. I also checked texture/material file size, but this too was not the issue. So, I'm stumped!

A copy of the file can be found here at 3D Warehouse:

      Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

      favicon

      (sketchup.google.com)

I hope that someone might be able to determine the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    • RE: [Plugin] s4u_Align

      Hi!

I've watched the video several times and have similar objects set-up to mimic what is being demonstrated. I'm not getting the same results; and it's probably because I'm missing something. For instance: I selected "Align Edges" tool; then I selected the edge of the largest object (as demonstrated); then holding down the "CTRL" key, I select the first small box; immediately the first box stretches out in a wedge shape and aligns itself with the larger box; only one object is effected -- if I click on the other small box, nothing happens. It looks pretty simple after viewing the video -- guess I could use some additional help. I've attached a picture to illustrate my point.

By the way, your other tools are outstanding especially the S4U to Components (already made a faceted table base and posted it on 3D Warehouse). So thanks for sharing! Jo πŸ˜„

    • Plugins Drop-Down Menu

Is there a plug-in (or script) for organizing all the plug-ins? Sounds funny, but when I want to use a plug-in from the drop-down menu tool bar "Plugins", I have to scroll up and down to find the right tool. Example: if I want to use the "Material Maintenance," I have to scroll down until I find it. Additional scrolling down to find and use the "Clean[sup:xvwoqexy]3[/sup:xvwoqexy]" tool, and then scroll back up to find the "DropGC." So you can see, there's a lot of scrolling going on and less productivity. And of course all the plug-ins that have tool bars are still listed in the drop-down menu. Any ideas? Help on this would be most appreciated. Jo Ann πŸ˜„

    • RE: [Plugin] Sketchup Ivy

Sorry to say I did not find this plug-in very useful. But it could be my version of SketchUp (2013). The "branch" part worked okay; but when I applied the leaves, they all drooped (no matter what settings I used... and I really tried to make this work). Turns out the "Tak2hata: Make Fur v2.0.6" is much better at creating leaves. Nice try though. And by the way, I do have the original ivy maker which I use once in awhile.

One other problem... the leaves for some reason turned up in every new file I opened as components. Then I tried to remove "unused" components, the leaves would not purge. They had to be deleted individually. Annoying.

    • SketchUp 2013 -- Open File Preview

      Hi!

I noticed after installing SketchUp 2013 when using File>Open, the preview (thumbnail) of SketchUp files (.skp) in a folder is no longer available. There is however a small preview box which is not very useful since only one file's thumbnail can be viewed at a time. I thought downloading and installed SketchUp Viewer would alleviate this problem but to no avail.

Perhaps I'm overlooking a "preference" setting. Hope someone can help! Thanks!!!

Hi! I've been downloading several plug-ins for SketchUp from the new Plug-In Store. My question -- do I need to delete the "corresponding" .rb files located in the SketchUp plug-in folder in the Program Files directory? Thanks for your feedback. Jo πŸ˜„

    • [Tutorial - Modelling] Arched Windows in a Curved Wall

Thank you Gaieus for the 2 tutorials! I tried them both out. Although the second tutorial (subject line) was geared towards SketchUp Pro, I was able to create 3 arched windows in a curved wall following the instructions in the first tutorial (Window in a Round Wall). Here is my results.

      Thanks again! Jo Ann πŸ˜„

    • "Chamfer Along Path" Tool/Plugin

      Hi All!

I need some help with a plugin to extrude along a path (inside, outside, recessed/concaved, protrude/convex). Many of my models require the extrude method, and although the default tool in Sketchup works well on outside, protruding surfaces, the inside recessed paths are a problem for me. The tool mentioned in the "subject" line, was downloaded from the Ruby Library Depot; it was developed for Sketchup 4. I've attached a diagram of the issue I'm faced with, and hopefully someone can provide a solution.

      Thanks for your help!
