Nothing to add other than thank-you... this is indeed a valuable service to keep the Sketchucation forum member abreast of a very fast growing portion of the 3D world.

They are also offering a 25% discount right now (for the holidays) on full versions, educational version upgrades, node upgrades, and full version upgrades.

It's also worth noting that I am currently working on a 8+ hour video tutorial series showing the Sketchup to Maxwell tools and workflow utilizing their very excellent plugin. The Plugin writer is working on adding the real-time render engine(Maxwell Fire) into Sketchup sometime in the near future... with full 64-bit power.
If you've ever been Maxwell curious now is a great time to take the plunge.

This looks really great -- I can do almost all of that with Dynamic components (except export) in Sketchup Pro but for Free version users who want that functionality this plugin is truly a bargain at roughly $480 less.

Very cool stuff, and I like the videos too.

Here's a scale-tool based fence that randomizes the board positions to create a more natural effect.

Hey Chris,
Where is that script you described, I was looking for something like that a few days ago.

After looking at this:

I think a similar effect could be achieved in Sketchup using something like the upcoming TT Bezier Surface plugin or TIG's Extrude Tools or Fredo's Curviloft if each polygon could be converted to an simple scaled polygon Component with the axes oriented to the normal of the face. Once you had that "Componentized" you could simply switch out all instances to whatever component you wanted.
Does this exist already?

This is indeed very useful for rendering purposes -- I would second the idea that being able to generate the image at whatever resolution needed would be great.
In regards to the previous post, you can do a quick version of what you want using fog:

While nothing nearly as cool as the other spiral stairs here I have created my own -- just use the scale tool to pull up more.

Something I did for some video tutorials I'm working on -- it is nothing too great but I think it is really fun if you don't mind being insulted by inanimate objects:

Here's a DC clock I made -- I'm sure this has been done to death but it was new to me.

Hey Dale,
It crashed for me when trying to UV map a sphere.

OK, I added this on the request forum:

Another thread got me thinking -- is it possible for plugin authors to access the instructor to create entries for their tools? This might be the best way to include information about how to use the plugin features.
Best,
Jason.
It's called the instructor -- you can launch it from the windows menu. It doesn't have all the keyboard shortcuts but most of them.

Wow, that looks like a cross between SDS and Sketchy FFD, I can see this useful for many things but especially cloth modelling.

Set the file to "color by layer" in Sketchup -- save the "scene" in Sketchup and then insert into Layout... it works in 3 that way (I don't have 2).

The multi-threaded issue is actually a Ruby issue -- there is a Java Ruby hybrid that has true multi-threading but I don't know that it would work with Sketchups Ruby API.
