    • RE: Making interactive 360 degrees videos

Hi Gaieus, it ain't about making a panorama, it's about making a sequence of panoramic pictures. In other words it will be an interactive panoramic video. See the example in my first post (and your reaction).

      @gaieus said:

Cubic pano out plugin will create an image (and optionally a scene) for each 6 sides of a cube you are "inside". All you have to do is to stitch these images together in an external application (a lot easier than how you described). What platform are you on? (It would be worth adding your OS and SU version to your profile). I do not have QT Pro either but could make a panorama in about 5-10 minutes (depending on export size).

    • RE: Making interactive 360 degrees videos

Yeah, I think so. If I understand the tutorial correctly I have to make a 360 pic for every frame, reframe them to the video-format, convert them to video and then reframe the video to a interactive video-swf-file. The only thing is I don't have QT pro, as they use in the tutorial. So I have to find similar (freeware) software to convert the picture sequence to a video. I assume that won't be a problem.
It would be a cool experiment!

I found this tutorial to make interactive panoramic video's with Pano2VR, which I aready have. But now I have to find a way to automate the CubicPano out-plugin, to make pictures for each frame. Does anybody know if there's a way to do this?

    • Making interactive 360 degrees videos

Two years ago I saw this presentation of Yellowbird, a company who makes interactive 360 degrees videos. At that time I was thinking it wouldn't take long till some developer would stand up to make a plugin for Sketchup to makes these kind of videos. Recently I saw this spectaular movie using these same interactive techniques, which reminded me of my thoughts/wishes I had 2 years ago. In the meantime I haven't seen any SU-videos or presentations like this yet. Does anybody know if such a plugin exists? Would it be possible to make such a plugin? I know I would be very pleased to see and use such a plugin! But most of all I think it would be very interesting for a lot of architecture or urban planning presentations...

    • RE: [Plugin] GoldenGauge now available

You're not really missing something. Golden Section is about the proportion of a face or box in 2 or 3 dimensions. This script works on 2 dimensions which doesn't have to be in a Golden Section proportion. It divides each dimension separately to the Golden Section. If you draw a rectangle in the Golden Section proportion and you use this script, one of the 4 parts is a perfect square with same dimensions. So using both tools, you'll get a good combination for designing with the Golden Section.

But thanks for noticing the GS-feature in SU, I didn't know about that one. πŸ˜„

    • Request - Fixed square metre

Is there any script which fixes the square metres of a object? I think this could be very useful. For architects for example sometimes a client wants a certain square meter. With this plugin you can quickly try out several dimensions/proportions.

I imagine it works something like this:

      • you draw a box
      • you start the fix_m2 plugin and fixes square meter of the box.
      • Now you can push-pull for example the length of the box and automaticly it will change the width.

I can imagine it can work for a volume too (fixing the m3), but for that option there are 2 dimensions which can change after push-pulling.
Does it exist or is it possible/easy to make?
      Thanks, JAP

    • RE: [Plugin] GoldenGauge now available

It's a very nice tool, but I think this tool would be more useful if you can use it both for enlarging as decreasing an original size with golden gauge factor. If I'm correct, now you can only subdivide a square. Ain't it possible for example to make it like this: First you have to give the original length, and than it gives some snappoints both enlarging as decreasing the original line, perpendicular and in the same line. After drawing the line to the snappoint you want use, you don't need to delete the points or lines you don't need. It gives you in each direction 4 snappoints, 2 for decreasing and 2 for enlarging. I think this would be the ideal script, but I don't know if it's possible to make. Looking forward to use it like this! πŸ˜„

On the site of RPS I see a tool, which seems to me to be very cool: sketchy shadows. The only thing is, I can't see any link or explanation how to download this Non-Photo Realistic tools... Anybody does?

      Thanks. JAP

    • RE: Scenes in Google Earth

Thanx Gaieus, I'll fix it with your workaround. So I assume you don't have the same problem, the camera is in Sketchup on the same place as it is in GE?

    • Scenes in Google Earth

In my sketchup-model I have and some scenes, which make a nice movie if you play it as an animation in sketchup. When I export the model to a kmz file , it includes these scenes, but the place of the camera in Google Earth ain't the same as in Sketchup. They're placed much further away than in Sketchup. Does anybody has this problem too and know why this is?
      Thanx in advance. JJ

    • Looking for onscreen time & date script

I thought I've read something about it, but I can't find it anymore. So if it doesn't exist, maybe it's a nice script to find out for the ruby-guru's among us.

I'm looking for a script which displays on-screen (most favourable in the upper right corner) the time and date in the model, set in the shadow-window. Does anybody know if it exists, or if someone is working on it? Is it makable?! Is it It would be great if it would go along with the different times between the scenes.

      Thanx! JAP

    • RE: 3d warehouse firefox search add-on

Ok, It wasn't that difficult after all. There are sites where you can generate your own searchplugin for FF2.0 or the latest IE, quite handy actually. Here's the link for the Google-3d-warehouse-model-search-plugin...
Pick the upper searchplugin , the otherone doesn't work. Excuse me for wrong typing (3d WArehhouse), it bugs me aswell, but I can't undo it... 😑

    • RE: 3d warehouse firefox search add-on

I first have to go to 3DWH site and then search. I think it would be easier to get directly to the models I want. Maybe there are more sites to look for 3D models. Just one search engine for all 3d models sounds quite handy to me.

    • 3d warehouse firefox search add-on

Wouldn't it be easy to have a firefox search add-on for the 3d warehouse? Well, I'm not that techy to build one myself, but I'm sure someone here can dig into the firefox extention coding... I, and I think a lot of other people, would be very pleased to easily search for a 3d model by just using the firefox search box. Anyone capable to make one? Thanx!
