Tried to use a backer on the png and it didn't work. Exported it to a jpeg and now it is working.
It must be that pngs don't block out sketchy lines..

When I turn off sketchy line styles it works fine. I will see if backing the png will work on Monday.
Thanks!
I think it's weird that it is doing this only for sketchy/straight line edges. Also I added a fence to my model and now a plane is also being displayed in front of the tree. Separate problem or the same? Here's some more screen shots. Why would the fence be the only thing displaying in front and not the planes on the light pole/building?
Yes I will attach the file.
I'm not really sure what to look for under openGL settings. I found openGL under preferences but there weren't really many options.
Ok... I double checked the material in Sketchup and the opacity is set to 100. I opened it in GIMP and the opacity of everything is 100% except for a few pixels around the edges.
So that must not be it. I did notice that for another tree in that drawing, the lines aren't showing through. I'm not sure what the difference is. I'm confused.
I think you were right in your response to my other post. The tree wasn't trimmed out as well as it could have been, but I was able to fix that by changing the transparency quality to 'nicer'. I will try that with this one too.
I know that the material opacity in Sketchup is set to 100 but I will also open the file in GIMP and check that.
Opened it up in GIMP and the tree seemed to be cut out decently well. There were definitely some places that needed trimmed/erased so that is probably why it looked like it did.
I started to trim it but it was taking forever so I put the transparency on 'nicer' and it displayed without the outline. Thanks
I am wondering why some of these trees have blue edges around them. They seem to show through what is actually behind the component all the way to the sky/background. As you can see in the same picture, not all the trees are behaving this way. I can't figure out what the difference is.
Any suggestions or fixes?
Also, when I select the component (second pic) the tree/plane displays how I want it to - with the edges showing the tree behind them.. There are also no blue edges in front of the chimney/house.
Why are there so many lines showing through this tree component? the material opacity is set to 100. Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks.
EDIT: I should also add that it is only doing this when using sketchy or straight line edges. When I use the default edge settings the lines don't show up through the trees.

Permissions to folders within the Programs Files tree is limited by default.
As has been said before... you should never need to put ANYTHING into the Tools folder.
The default 'User' Plugin folder for v2014 has suitable permissions...
I am still at a loss as to see what is improved by this fiasco...
I assumed that the permissions were changed by the company I work for. I didn't realize it is like that by default. To fix it I actually downloaded the latest link and installed it the correct way. I didn't realize that mtriples other link was a bad fix, and I'm still confused to how dtarch got it to work..
The reason I said that I fixed it by fixing the permissions issue is because I assumed it wasn't like that by default and assumed it could be just changed to get it to work for people that were having that same issue. I was trying to be helpful but it ended up being wrong and more confusing sorry
It was a permissions error for me, but it is working now. I also didn't know much about using the ruby console. Thanks!
I am having the same problem as I had before.
If I copy the latest compspray files to my plugins folder here:
I get this error when opening SU. Also the toolbar isn't listed and CS isn't there.
If I copy the latest files here:
I am able to pull up the toolbar for compspray but the only thing that works are the CS settings. I also could not find compspray in the SU system preferences/extensions window.
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
I did what dtrarch said(I am not getting an error message when launching anymore) but..
Wwhen I go to View/Toolbars and try to select the [X]Components Spray option box it is not there. I have other extensions installed but Components Spray is not listed. I can also pull up the tool bar for CompS but it does nothing when I try to use it.
On step #2 I could not locate the tools folder. I tried to find xxx/Roaming/SketchUp/Sketchup2014/SketchUp/Tools
but my file structure is set up like this xxxx/Roaming/Sketchup/Sketchup2014/Sketchup/ -- and there is only a plugins and classifications folder.
Am I looking in the wrong spot? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
