Hi again.
It looks to me that historians and archaeologs have used sketchup to recreate things like old castles, buildings from anciant Rome, and other historic buildings and places. That is. I have found some small snippets that was obviousely done with Scetchup, but I would like to see more to get some ideas about what could be done, and how widely is Sketchup used in "recreating" history. It would be nice if some of you could help me with some links to interesting places like for example youtube a.s.o.
Best regards

Using 3D warehouse models in a project
Hi againI am making an old time brick building in scetchup, and I want to have some trees outside, and some people and furniture inside the building. If I go to the 3D warehouse, there are many nice models to chose from. The question is: Is it legal to use these models in a project that is to be shown in public? ( Utube) ( In a non profit way)

Jacktar, are you having a problem getting the perspective to match, removing the modern house and patching the hole that is left or just getting subtle lighting clues and entourage elements to integrate with the image. Could you show us the images that you are working with?
I will first try out the sugestins on the other answers, then I wil get back to the other problems.

How do I integrate a sketchup model in a photo ?
Hi out there.
This is the story: I have a photo of a modern house and its farmland soroundings. several houndred years ago there was a small stone house on the site. I want to remove the modern house and replace it with the stone house. ( that I recreated in sketchup ) This is not so difficult using Photoshop, but to make it look good is another thing. I have been looking in around in utube to try to find a good tutorial on how to do this, but there are houndreds of them out there, and I dont find anything useful. do anyone of you know where to find a good tutorial. The thing I am after is something like the "integrating" techniques they use in History channel when they are placing old buildings in "modern" soroundings. (I want this to be done on a photo only, and not as an animation)Best regards

Very tiny geometry causes problem for Sketchup and OpenGL so you are getting near the limit here...
Scale everything up x10 before doing the intersect, scale back down afterwards...
Here's a simple step-by-step...[attachment=0:2d9t1ibc]<!-- ia0 -->Capture.PNG<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:2d9t1ibc]Thank you so much TIG.
The "drawing" wasa great help

"Drilling" a hole in a rod ?
Hi again out there.
I have run into a problem that I hope somebody out there can help me with.
I wil try to make a simple example of the problem:Lets say Imake round rod ( 15mm thick and 100mm long) Then I want to "insert" another rod that is 6mm thick through the first rod ( drill a hole trough the first rod to form a T handle)
When I try to do this by using "drawing a cirkle" + Push/pull, then I get the message: "Cannot push/pull curved or smoothed surfaces"
How do I fix this problem?Best regards

Converting scetchup drawings to JPEG pictures?
Hi out there in Scetchup land.
I am absolutely new to Scetchup, but it looks wery promising and userfriendly.
I have one question that is important to me, and will try to explain:
I am making some ( relatively ) short slideshows. My next show is about the history of an old stone house ( 13th century ) and only some traces of it is left, so the idea is to try to "recreate" it externaly and internaly with Scetchup . After this is done I want to take the "visitor" inside with me. To do so, I have to "transfer" the Scetchup dravings into ( preferably) JPEG images and import them into my slideshow. So the question is: Is it possible to "convert" the drawings into "ordinary" pictures like for example JPEG ?Best regards
